The best scarbo ever, i swear
Poetry
So clean and powerful. Amazing amazing performance. I’m half way through learning this piece and it’s an absolute beast (obviously)
Thanks Ms. Kate, this one kind of snuck up on me, before I realized that it was really taking me places !
her control and phrasing is impeccable.... and her evocation of the sound world of the glittering sea and the ondine
Kinda sus seeing a Hamburg Steinway in America
It must feel amazing to be such a young prodigy
she is a genius! The passion and clarity is evident!
👍✨✨
COOL!
Is a genius.
Amazing. Only 16 years or around that
Watching this Human Pearl, I feel a deep pain for so many children in LatAm, smatched under the flags of hellish ideologías which are condemning them to live in darkness
Thanks to Kate, a gift from Heaven to the Humanity.
She brings something out of this that others don't. Typical Kate Liu! She's lost in it and yet has the chops to stay focused. Amazing...
Yes, the practice it took to for this level of mastery was worth missing the Jr. High School dance for. Wow. Impressive. She's a genius.
Perfecto! it is a very difficult composition to perform in that the melody has to soar above the background. You have mastered that! So few musicians have been able to achieve that feat. Bravo!
The most imaginative Scarbo ever ! What a beautiful sound ! Gorgeous ! Fantastic !
Absolutely great ! Wonderful sonorities !
The best Gaspard ever ! What a beauty !
Apart from being a great pianist she touches some undefinable string inside me that makes tears pop up sometimes. Maybe it has to do with the combination of strength with sensitivity and vulnerability that seems superhuman.
Wow! This music work is extremely difficult and she playes it as if with graet ease, so pliantly... and, by the time she playes this she is only 16 years of age....absolutely amazingly!! Very very well done!
Damn, she’s jitter clicking.
Seth Mason: I had to look it up first, but your comment is not only funny, it’s correct! 🎹😀
Oh my God - now my adoration of Kate Liu’s artistry is infinite!
Been looking for the perfect performance of Ondine for some time now, and I think I've finally found it. She had my attention from the first shimmering measure and convinced me when she dropped that hammer at 4:23. Love her composure. Takes her time, chooses the right tempi for each passage and seems in full control of the emotions she evokes. Bravo. Genius.
Genius.
Debussy e Ravel hanno contribuito ad azzerare il sistema armonico affidando alla musica il compito di creare impressioni e atmosfere vanificando quasi il valore di una linea melodica attraente espressiva fantastica eloquente anche se non sempre sentimentale.
she understands so clearly
When i was her age i bought the pogorelich record and thought he was one of the few pianists able to play this...
She was 16 years old then.
Am I the only one who thinks that this music is hideous and greatly over-rated? (nothing about her playing, of course).
LazlosPlane: I believe you are. 😎🎹
If anyone familiar with this piece was played the sound track of Liu's performance here in a blind-fold test and asked to guess which world-famous pianist had never performed it in public before, but was performing here, the plausible answers would include Richter, Horowitz, Gilels, Zimerman, Volodos, amongst others. Try this test by listening to Lui without watching her. This is astounding music making by any measure, with no attempt to beat the clock, an iron grip on the structure, as subtle, gripping and as fresh an interpretation as you will find anywhere. Brava!!
Zimerman ??? Are you joking ??

Good lord this is so difficult.
The most haunting "Le Gibet" interpretation I know of.
Best interpretation, par with Paolo Giacometti and Tiffany Poon.
Hypnotic. Phenomenal artistry
This is the best recording of Ondine I have ever heard; in the last month, I have returned for this recording numerous times. I'm currently thirteen, and I'm learning this, I must say, this girl has some incredibly admirable technique, and voicing for her play. The rubato and sophistication she has is truly prodigious and other-worldly.
Try Pogorelich (esp. for the poetics) and Grosvenor (esp. for Scarbo and the technique in general).
@@MathieuPrevot I thank you for the recommendations, but I have previously heard these interpretations. I scower for all renditions of a piece, as anyone can play a piece with more or less passion. Once again, thanks for the intent nonetheless!
Good to learn, even at your age. I’m almost 50 and just finished memorizing this. Took me 2 weeks. (Btw, I quit piano 14 years ago so technique never leaves you) It wasn’t easy but thankfully I learned Taubman technique from Veda (Yoheved Kaplinsky) when I was 18. 🙌🏼
My new favorite pianist.
Bravo!
Her technique is quite good. Scarbo is notoriously difficult to play.
I listened to all 3 pieces several times. I also listened to other performers. Is this the best painting of this on YT or I am enchanted and in a mood? God exists...
she is a genius indeed...
Don't forget she have very good solid foundation of piano essential technique
Even is genius piano learner, she/he is also exercising / practicing essential technique.
Her Chopenistic sonatas, mazurkas and nocturnes are just of divine beauty. Pure genius !
16 ? holy shnikeys. this is almost the best I've ever heard. thank you. now I will search for her on you. ? move over Yuga
Absolutely stunning. Absolutely capricious artistry. Kate, if you’re reading this, know that you’ve touched the lives of thousands with your divinely unique artistry. It would be my absolute honor to attend your concert live. 💚🙏
