Just got it on my 2nd try.
Dr dave has been reaaaaal quiet
Sure fooled the announces
shooting the 7 in the side , to me was so much easier than traveling all over to get to the 7 - shoot 7 in side , 14 in corner and then your last 2 before the break ball.
Good one. I was locked into saving the 7 for K3 ball. Its important to keep your plan flexible so you don't get tunnel vision.
i wanna learn from Filipinos, they don't use math. lol
Hoping to hear more about the lesson from Jerry Briesath in a future upload. I’ve been considering taking his live instruction after watching his videos for years now.
10:30 the tips here help with all games, not just straight pool. And that’s the type of stuff I get from you. Excellent
Thank you for the excellent video. If you watch Efren, you see his elbow go up and down, that means he is using a shoulder stroke for at least part of his stroke. I recall Willy Hoppe writing that he uses a shoulder stroke. Please comment. Thank you.
He's only getting loose. Shooting from the shoulder equals elbow drop. Efren does not do that on most shots. I don't recommend it on ANY shot.
Totally understand thank you see you when you come back
Under table vacuum would help as well.❤
I have a wall-mounted 1hp vacuum with commericial grade fine dust filter and my own 3-way manifold. After this video I checked and the tube mount below the table saw was loose. That's why the dust built up.
So glad you don't overanalize and talk constantly. 😵💫
Good video. But You left out 3 options. Two rails up & down if you got game or depending on distance & angle felt speed and size of table stop shot it or stun into the 8 and knock it towards the opposite corner with shape if you got game. Cheers
Your handle… how long is it :))
czcams.com/video/aSZYegOfQ3g/video.html
at 35:09 you could have floated the cue to the bottom rail and played the 12 or if it bounced up taken the 4 to get position on the 12 to open the 11. That will open the rest of the rack up. IMHO
Good video. The things I saw in the pool seen back in the 80’s & 90’s were not like thinks today. Shocked me quite a bit as I left the pool scene as a top player 30 years ago and never followed it or watched it and then somehow got back into it 8 months ago and was amazed how much in pool & the scene has changed in those 30 years. One of the best games ever imo. Have to admit watching pro matches now are a lot different now then back in the day no better no worse just different but must say leaning towards the boring side with rule changes, no drugs or alcohol the character of old players etc. Cheers
amazing video and explanation, alot of pool videos i watched as a beginner just told us to 'aim here! aim there!' without showing how to position your body, cue, and stroke
making that much fine sawdust in the air you should make yourself a cheap box fan - 20" box fan with a 20"x20" filter - having it draw the air away from your saw will give you cleaner air to breathe

Hey if im add a effect for a cue ball, how i know my stroke right? Sorry because my english too bad. Hope you understand.
Sorry, I don't understand.
@@ShortstopOnPool it like … if i use follow shot or draw shot the cue ball is fine. But if i use left or right a cue ball not go straight, how i can get a correct shot?
@@ShortstopOnPool i hope u, make a video to solve it😥😥
@@-kwolf3330 It sounds like you are talking about "deflection". There are already tons of videos and articles about it. Start here: czcams.com/video/PKcST5CqBZM/video.html
Thanks
You’ve been training really hard! If we keep pushing along because this is what we want to do, There will be things along the way that we continue to learn regardless if I see the results right now. Sometimes we get caught up in all the things we’re trying to do and we forget the basics (in life and our training routines). I want all of us to remind ourselves of “the things that we’ve seen ourselves work hard on and to continue to push forward in that direction”. Try to move through the negative obstacles with confidence that we are aiming towards something higher (even if our current senses don’t see, feel or recognize the outcome of our efforts). Good luck friends. Take care of yourselves and try to enjoy the peaceful moments when we have them. Slainte Mhath!
the flashing light is probably super stressful and definitely not healthy, getting that fixed will probably already do a great deal in making you feel better. thanks for all you do and enjoy your time off m8
I love your videos so far, but do you have any video's on propper cue stick weight? I find myself having a tendency to hit harder than I plan to and I'm wondering if I need to increase my stick weight to help slow me down.
Heavier stick will be even harder to control. Try this: when you first start to bring your cue stick back (the backstroke) count slowly to four. Move the cue slowly back so it reaches the end of the back stroke at four, then stroke forward through the cue ball. Also, your bridge might be too long. The distance from the cue ball to where your cue stick touches your bridge hand shouldn't be longer than 8 inches. You can make it even closer, like 7 or 6 inches, its impossible to hit the ball your hardest with a shorter bridge. And your accuracy will improve as well.
@ShortstopOnPool Thank you very much! I'll give that a try next time I play. I have a weight kit on standby just in case though. 😆 On a side note I just ordered a ghost aim 2.0 from you yesterday and I'm looking forward to trying it. I've had a real problem lately with angles and I'm hoping this straightens me out.
You need to take time for yourself. I went through some similar things for my music youtube channel and ended up doing a video on how to deal with things when you're overwhelmed, and ended up taking quite a bit of time off. I hope things work out for you!
I haven't had a break in 14 years. You may need one. This game is crazy. But, a lot of the time, people think they have to do things one way. You maybe missing opportunity to succeed because you may think it has to be done this way or that way. Everyone is different... what may work for most may not work for you. Just because people in the past did things one way, doesn't mean it's going to work for everyone. Life is an outline. Find your own outline and follow through. If you fail, guess what.... start over. Failure is a tool for success. It's all about results. Good Luck.... PS Just go back to the basics. Master the basics. Put balls on the table and just run them. Don't try to make a pattern out of it. Just put balls in the hole. Start with the closest balls first. Stay on one end of the table till you put balls in holes.
Breaks are good. Enjoy the summer. The only pool content I watch regularly. Look forward to your return.
We all need a break
Don't forget to get the padded 18-inch carpet and play some around your table you will not believe how good that feels
Hope I see you at Main Street Billiards in Mesa.
Good for you!!!!!!
This is frigging brilliant
Good luck. Looking forward to your return. Excited for your instructional videos.
Enjoy your break, they can be really helpful. I'm glad that you're choosing to take one. I feel too many people do not prioritize their own mental health. Plus you just moved out of Colorado, the best state in the country. But on a serious note, moving is a stressful thing for everybody. And I don't know what else you have going on, but that certainly adds to it. If you find a coach that can help you get to the next level, I'd be curious to hear how you went about finding them. And how often you work with them.
Enjoy the summer. Good luck with the projects!
Enjoy your break! We'll be here when you get back.
Hello, are you still playing with your Vantage ? Im tempted by it and the Revo.
I am playing with a new 314 because I bought a Predator P3 cue which has a different joint. Still have the Vantage and still like it.
Such a comprehensive guide ! Love it !
Thank you
The best explanation I never seen before
@SSOP The 75 run at the beginning: first 4 breakshots are played with a good result, so it's easier to play the whole rack without mistake. The 5th breakshot opens the half rack and there's was a bigger cluster in the triangle. But that was to handle with a secondary and if needed a third breakshot. The ball you missed was the 8 but I cannot see in time lapse what the mistake was. Maybe you played it with a stun shot but I saw no reason to do in this situation. I hope you didn't try to open some balls from the cluster with a long stun. Only Mike Sigel I would allow to do this.
Had the 8-ball gone in, you can see I played for an angle on the 2-ball to rebreak.
I have been making cues for over 20 years now and have built a few long cues. I have found that the shaft length has an effect on the oveall hit of the cue. A pool cue also acts as means of stored energy. When you have a short shaft as per your example the hit will tend to be quite stiff. The longer shaft will recoil to a greater extent and will allow you to transfer more of the energy of the hit with less of a stroke. The farther you push the joint the more whip you can give to the shaft. The joint of a cue interupts how the cue flexs when the cue impacts the cueball. The best analogy I can give is a cue is like a good anvil for a blacksmith. A good anvil will give back the energy that you put into it, where as a poor one will absorb the energy, taking away the energy from the collision between the metal and anvil. You want your pool cue to impart as much of the energy you put into the hit from your stroke back into the cue ball. This allows you to have a much more controlled stroke that will move your cue ball around the table without having to muscle your stroke. Having said that, I have found the farther you push the joint back the better. You basicly built a cue with a large mid extension. In the snooker world they have traditionally used one piece cues. Then they started building 3/4 shaft cues. Where the butt is only 1/3 of the total length. This was all in the effort to reduce the effects of putting a joint in a cue. A lot of compromises were made for the sake of portability. The other consideration is cases. If you have an extra long cue made you have to have a custom case made. My suggestion for those who need an extra long cue is to go with a two piece where the total length is 62" and to go wrappless. You can grip the cue at the very end if you need to. Why does there have to be cue behind your grip hand? Snooker players traditionally hold the cue this way. The evolution of the pool cue has alot to do with efficiency of manufacturing and esthetics. Standards are useful in many ways. I have shaft blanks hanging in my shop that are 32 inches in length. But if you buy from big suppliers they are usually 30. The decorative hardwood we use is usually sold in 18" blanks, enough for a forearm and a butt sleave and a little waste at the ends and the cuts. When you start altering the basic dimensions of the cue that changes all the standards. Lots of things to consider. It also makes certain parts of the turning process more difficult. Sorry for the long rant...just one cumakers opinion. Cheers
I hear you. But at 6'-5" tall, a 62" cue is just too short for me. I need 67" minimum.
First Video I have watched and understood it to be a straight shooter!!
THIS is my biggest problem even in cut shots. My swing is very inconsistent so hard to correct my mannerism.
Often you need an instructors eyes to help get you setup correctly.
Great video! Thank you shortstop! You are the best!
Thank you
On 🔥 !
Well played, but I would’ve preferred to see it in normal speed at least once.
