My husband went through head & neck cancer. Treated at MDA in Houston in 2007 w 30 rounds of radiation to the neck, mouth and shoulder area. All was good for many years, until 5 years ago when he started w tingling and dropping things out of his hands. Here we are in 2024, and lost the use of both arms. Also, the flap that he needs to swallow is t working and now on a feeding tube. He had to medically retire from his job. No help from anyone. They say his case is “RARE” and they have no answers. He’s had several surgeries to clean out the scar tissue from radiation from 2007 and no results. Anybody out there w the same issues?
What it this for ?
Long term smoking meth leads to mouth ulcer on tongue
Is leukoplakia all was a death sentence, is it curable
I'd like to know how you're doing. I had lump. Antibiotics didn't help. Fit as a flea, 43yrs. MRI, Pet and ultrasound confirmed cancer. I had neck dissection, tonsils removed, mouth material taken out. Then 4 weeks later radio therapy 6 weeks. The surgery was a 10 hr surgery. Pretty rough. I have 7 sessions of radio left. I'm not as able at work, I haven't done much in the gym, done some boxing and swimming. Neck and mouth starting to get sore. Not letting it slow my life down. But weight training hard as the shoulder nerves have been damaged. End of April I hope to get back to my training, I want my 6 pack for the summer and build my body back up. Good luck everyone. I struggled a bit we had a twin son die at birth 23 weeks gestation. Our little girl doing well, now 10lbs was born half a lb. So sleeping has been no existent. But getting through it all.
Hope everything goes well for you
@@LJP-su3tzhi are you ok now
I'm also having similar symptoms checked 2 doc but it was infection but it still haven't healed plus I have lymp nodes and a lump on throat plus difficulty breathing so I'm seeing an ent I hope it's not cancer as it's lasted for 2 months 😭😭😭😭
@@user-ux5is9yo4q good luck, any news?
@@user-ux5is9yo4q I need regular check ups but I seam okay, neck sore, eating okay, not so fit but age is upon me compared to last year and the them before.
Barely a drop of blood leaking inside or out. He is good!
my husband his level is 3,000... and he has end stage renal disease.
Please everyone get a doctor who talks to you. After my first ENT saw my vocal cord he said he did not like that I had a mass on one side only. He ordered at CT scan but would not return my calls. One month after the first visit I finally had a follow up visit with the ENT. He alluded to the fact that I had cancer but never used that word nor a word like "suspicious." All he said was we do the surgery and a biopsy and "then we will know." The surgery and biopsy was scheduled for a month later. I saw him at the end of January and finally had a surgery scheduled at the end of March. My second ENT said immediately that he thought the mass was cancer. He scheduled the CT scan for the next day and the surgery and biopsy for 2 weeks later. He returns my calls and that is the most important thing to me. Honesty and communication.
Great speech also I'm gay
Thank you for this video!
I am having a biopsy in 3 days. I have had an ulcerated area on my tongue for 10 weeks. Pretty scared but reassured by this video and peoples comments who have had treatment.
My mum going through this. She visited the doctors 3times and told nothing to worry about, she knew it was cancer. Stage 4
How is she doing now
@sridharreddy8011 she's doing okay .She had 6 wks of radical radiotherapy. She can't each much due to everything tasting rancid. Lost 4 stone but slowly feeling better
@@Rena-ol7dn I hope and pray she will be back to normal soon
The first resection looks likes fatty tissue … the second one more looks parathyroid in nature
It definitely can't hurt
What I am going through now is not identical but strikingly similar. Starting radiation in a couple of weeks. Right vocal cord cancer. Thank you for his video and sharing your experience. I hope you are doing well and have recovered completely!
Yummy
My father is died of oral cancer
very well Informative with a full use of visual aids well done. Having had a Carcinoma on my mid of my tongue, i had to have 30 days @ 5days aweek radiography treament and no chemo at the Liecester Royal Infirmary Oncology department in UK in 2019 and now over 4 yrs cancer free so far.
How are you doing now? It seems my son has Tongue Cancer and am searching for tips😢
I'm having this surgery soon. Can anyone tell me what recovery was like afterwards. It's such a sensitive area.
I just had this surgery in Colorado, morning of Aug 22 2023, two glands removed by a faculty endocrine surgeon at Univ of Co. I had my first parathyroidectomy 9.5 years ago but my calcium levels remained high normal (between 10.5 and 11 and would spike if I took modest doses of vitamin D like 1000 or 2000 IU). First surgery the incision was only about 2 cm, this time it's more than twice that length and I can feel the soreness. Overall, though, I'd say it's a relatively easy surgery to recover from and well worth it. Best of luck to you.
I know of a person who had a very different experience than the person in the video. The sole side effect enumerated in the video was a "dry mouth" and that's it. The case I'm familiar with, there was absolute discomfort swallowing and soreness in the throat after the third week,, In the 4th, 5th and 6 th week the side effects had become severe. Sleep was interupted hourly by an overproduction of saliva, phlegm and gagging. ANy sleep was only possible due to the administration of narcotics. Pain during swallowing was a 9 out of 10 on the pain scale. There was even, by the 5th and 6th week, a burning in the throat which was constant. Eating by the end of the 5th and into the 6th week was almost impossible. I believe the airway narrowed due to swelling with each session of radiation. I'm not trying to disuade anyone from taking this treatment, it is reportedly better than 90% effective, however I want people to be aware that the video above is not reflective of what I know most people's experience is with this treatment. Again, the side effects--pain, sleeplessness, gagging, and the necessity for prescription pain killers is not something to be taken lightly. Even t he most bland, liquified food was difficult if not impossible to take in.

A few years back like 5 I want to say I noticed a small sore on my tongue. Thinking it was a canker sore I thought nothing of it until a few months later I was in the hospital for pneumonia I believe (I'm always in the hospital) and it was a lot bigger and so sore so I showed the hospitalist and her order something to coat it said it was fine and never asked about it after that. Upon discharge I went to a rehabilitation center to work in my strength and it got so bad they made an appointment to see a doctor. He actually listened to me and said he thought it might be cancer so he wanted to remove it and have it tested. Pre surgery was a nightmare (another story) but he cut like 1/4 of my tongue off and sent it in. It came back negative but said it would turn into cancer possibly if it kept coming back. And that it did do for the next couple of years. It would get huge and at time feel like someone was electrocuting that part of my tongue and it would bleed. Seen a doctor back home for it and he said "it's fine, you're probably eating something to irritate it so it won't go away" 🙄 no I'm not having that. Seen a dermatologist I want to say November 2021 and he said he thinks he may know what it is. He prescribed something and told me to take 3 zinc pills 3 times a day. If it doesn't go away in 2 weeks he's gonna send me to the main specialist in my state. Mind you I'm going crazy not being able to eat well and tongue being zapped like that on and off for years I wanted to give up. To quit. I'm tired of the pain. Anyway come to find out it was 2 problems in one. My brain was misfiring to the nerve where that sore was apparently my brain was confused. Anyway I had 2 small flare ups in the beginning of 2022 and since then nothing. Oops I forgot to mention the dermatologist cut the sore out of my tongue in the office. The tongue is no joke. God bless you all and heal you completely and forever from this awful disease

I have tongue cancer waiting for a surgery
How are you doing?
@@laniesider2586 thank you ,all went well for me x
All the best to you, hope you're still doing fine.
Hi, I am gay actor Michael Douglas.
Wtf lol
youve got some wanker whispering the whole way through
why did u go thru neck dissection? did the cancer spread from yr tongue to the lymph node?
My case somewhat worse. Tumor nestled on inside of jaw. Larger than they thought but by some miracle it just grew on itself. Nodes removed and analyzed .. nothing. They removed two-thirds of jaw, rebuilt with fibia from leg along with a flap of skin to form lower pallet. Lost ALL teeth due to advanced periodontal disease. Minor complications and two revisions on new jaw due to clotting. worst pain was tape on my hairy chest. Trach thing below Adam's apple. Feeding tube. Drains both sides of neck and atop leg section. No radiation needed. Currently 25 days post op. Still feeding G-tube direct to stomach but 100% pain free. Pain never really an issue.
Damn dude. Hope you are doing better. Thanks for sharing, worse than my situation (post-op, preparing for radiation)
