Thanks, Nitin Ji, for choosing Ravi ji as today's subject. However, I am afraid the entire conversation lacked the elements that adequately captured the contours of a great career. Like most other composers of his times, Ravi ji enjoyed a very high success ratio. Between 1960 and 1969, his songs were plentiful and amongst the best. In fact, in my honest opinion, 'Chaudvin ka Chand's' title song was a trendsetter -- inspiring 80% of the music directors to choose Mohammad Rafi for the romantic ghazals. The Rafi-Ravi combination is unparalleled when it comes to lilting romantic content. Next, Mahendra Kapoor owes almost his entire success to Ravi ji, though O. P. Nayyar chipped in, too. But OP wasn't cut out for slow, deep compositions. Finally, while Asha ji was O. P. Nayyar's undisputed protege, Ravi ji, brought out the best in Asha, again when it came to slow, melodious tunes.

यह बात बिल्कुल सही है,कि हर कोई अपनी मातृ जबान से ढला होता है,बंगला और हिंदी पंजाबी जबान मे फर्क तो रहना लाजमी है,वैसे देखा जाय तो बंगाली जितने भी गायक रहे वे भी हिंदी ऊर्दू के जबान मे ठीक नही लगे,लेकिन किशोर कुमार बंगाली होते हुये उनकी पहली जुबान मध्यप्रदेश की हिंदी थी,तलत ऊर्दू के.वैसे मुहम्मद रफी हर किसी से लिये और दिये,यह श्रेय किसी एक को नही जाता,फिर भी अपनी अपनी सोच पर पावंदी तो नही ,रफी हर किसी को पसंद रहें,वैसे हिंदी गानों के लिये बंगाली भी पसंद करते हैं.

The guest has good knowledge of music but not the habit of respecting classical Ragas. RD Burman's songs are also based on Ragas. All songs in RD's first movie "Chhote Nawab" are raga based. He said that Rafi cannot sing that way or this way, that is wrong. Asha said Kishore was the best because she does not like Rafi. The real music lover never respect Asha because a) she is not a good human b) her voice is ear piercing and sounds artificial c) she is a self praiser. It is not the singer but the music composer who decides the most suitable singer who can deliver the best. But Rafi is the only singer who always respect music composer and his design without any changes. All other singers said, they improvise and made the song superhit. Yes, they did to for their comfort killing the original thought of composer. In my opinion, a true singer is is the one who should have a quality of making composer's song without changing hit based on a sheer way of pure singing. Thank you.
