This was the Chicago Push at its peak and how I remember them when I was a kid!

Now THIS brings back memories!! This recording was done shortly after I began my Chicago Style Polka Music career!!

In Buffalo they do Dyngus right way. It's old tradition and Polish pride. They have fun but also show ❤️ and respect. No different than Puxawtawni ground hog day. The problem is the new millennial hipsters in towns like Cleveland Oh have adopted DD as an opportunity to lampoon and mock Polish culture. In Buffalo Miss DD is actually an elegant beauty queen; in Cleveland they purposely choose a toothless overweight hag and add a babushka and pierogo center. Pure mockery of Polish culture. We are proud American Poles but Anderson is right on some level the offshoot newer DD festivals have devolved into a crude pantomime that other cultures would never tolerate.

Polish does not rhyme like English, so a lot of what they say is gibberish. It's a song, don't be so critical. And if you can play the accordion better - go audition for the band. It's not as easy as it looks, but the electronic accordion - you don't have to play it like a old accordion with bellows.

This is an amazing document of the two musicians most responsible for the direction and sound of modern polka music, Lenny Gomulka and Eddie Blazonczyk. Eddie certainly had the voice and the on-stage persona, but it was really Gomulka behind the sound. Eddie’s harmonies were influenced by Gomulka to a greater extent than Lenny gets credit for. This is possibly the best incarnation of the Versatones ever! RIP Eddie, Richie, Jerry T, Jerry D.
