RIP JIM WILL MISS YOU.❤❤
RIP, Jim. 57 was too young.
RIP Jim Mills, his legend will live on through many young pickers. Thanks to raw solo playing videos like this just an amazing talent.
How about some detail on the banjo, FON, who has it now, etc? The tailpiece looks strangely familiar.....
RIP JIM
R.I.P. Jim Mills…
way too young.
Too bad we didn’t get to see Eric playing.
Your a fool if you'd say this banjo didn't sound as good as anyone of them banjos he played that day!
I'm looking for a woman that will look at me the way Jim Mills looks at a banjo.
Soo good!!
Cool.
Sematary reference
That tone….
Cute blonde didn't look too impressed... but I can assure you that this dude enjoyed. Lol
His left hand technique has always bewildered me
What happens when you put a great sounding instrument into the hands of a Master. Just wow....
What would really be amazing if someone could detail the evolution of Eric's banjo. What ever happened to the first neck that banjo had with all the inlay.
Great player but always wondered why he looks at the keyboard so much while he is playing. Sort weird
Anyone know what song that was?
Omg
Thats the banjo that started the greatest bluegrass revival in history early 70s. To add to more correction, Arthur Smith didnt write duelling banjos he took the tune from Harry S. Turner his piano protoge' in his group the crackerjacks, it was called duelling strings. Arthur was miscredited for this.
That, right there, will blow your hair back. What a banjo! What a banjo player in Jim Miils.
Someone move that bloody mic stand 😂😂
the RB3 must be the greatest of all banjos in existence. However, I hear a tone difference in everyone I listen to online. Anyone who can say anything about that . What kind of tonering was this banjos issued with originally ? Since I will never afford one, what is the best clone to a manageable price ?
Great sound!!
Did a good job, Kelly! Still playing??
Que coisa maravilhosa. Parabéns.
Fantastic. I’ve been recently teaching a triplet style version of silent night , from Ross Nickerson’s book, to my students It’s tricky but sounds so great. I’m Gonna try learn this next
Love Jim's playing he plays it powerful and hard, I try to do that too. The sound he gets out of it cool.
Holy hell.
Nice job 👍
'Reuben', he and Earl made it look so easy.
Jim can pick a 5 string like a master. Oh, he is .
Great treatment of this Uncle Dave favorite, but you left some out: Possum am the thing for me, Rattler's got 'nother'n up a tree!
Cannnnnn I have this banjoooo oml it was made for meeee 🙌❤️
I want this lol
I just don't understand how there are two people in this world who didn't enjoy that. I mean, if you don't like banjo, and if you don't like gospel music, why did you click on this video in the first place? If I could play (pick) that song the way he does, and couldn't play any other song, I'd be a happy man.
Who is the annoying dick who comes in and talks over Jimmy’s playing?
Lot of years later, but dogged, that thing sounded amazing!
RIP Eric Weissberg
That banjo head is tighter than a nun's...
It’s the tailpiece
One of the highlights of my life was having the privilege of not only listening to him live but shaking his hand 😁 very humble guy 😁 he is one of my hero's 😁
Jim, great banjo player, Eric the Legend....! His Duelling banjos and that legendary 2 piece flange pre-war started the largest 2nd generation Bluegrass revival in history. Sad to hear Eric has recently went to rest. A Legend.
If Jim Mills is testing out a banjo just keep quiet. You may never get the opportunity again to hear this genius at work in such an intimate setting. Frustrating!
I hate talkers, period
You people are the most soulless creatures on the face of this earth. Who cares if they’re talking. It’s a banjo camp. You don’t have to sit and listen intently while he plays like you’re listening to a sermon from Jesus Christ himself. And who’s to say that Jim didn’t play more once the camera wasn’t recording?
Jim Mills is a totally good guy!
Man that thing's got some punch!
I love this guy, in all the videos hes always like don't talk to me just shut up cause im playing like it or not. Jim Mills and jon eric both these guys can really make a banjo sing.
How great thou art.. You are indeed Jim! Awsome pickin. 👍👏👏
What song is that??
My start in banjo picking began with Pete Seeger's little yellow booklet " How to play the 5 string banjo" and in it he was asked what does a banjo sound like? His reply: Fast as lightning and hard as nails". Ain't that the truth and this performance is the ultimate in my opinion.
