Heidi's cancer diagnosis shook her world, but as a deaf person it was the absence of an interpreter that truly isolated her in that moment.
Heidi was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2018. Like many Deaf people living in the UK, English is a second language, her first being British Sign Language, so she found the communication around her diagnosis difficult. She didn’t always have access to an interpreter, and her family aren’t close by, so couldn’t help with translation.
Being diagnosed with cancer can be frightening enough, without having additional barriers to contend with. Everyone should have access to cancer information and support, and we will do whatever it takes to make sure that happens.

I’ve never even heard of blood cancer. What made her go to the doctor ? Like I wonder what symptoms she had to go get tested and how the doctors determined that’s what it was.
Going to be cutting my wife’s hair today, came on here to look for courage and strength as I’ve never been one to show too much emotion or allow myself to feel so much due to a hard life, this is going to be the one of the hardest days in my life.

I had a NHL in 2000 ...they told me I can quit my check up 2010. I had a rezidiv in 2016 and I will never stop my check up again. Always do that, too! Hugs and best wishes from sweden!!❤️❤️❤️

i m going through painful tongue cancer.. no one can feel or understand the pain of a cancer patients. not only physically pain. any one easyly can see the physical pain. but no one can understand the mental health. how a cancer patient feel. the feeling. no one never can feel it. only ons who are going through this. 😢😢
