I had an amazing time in Amsterdam. I've visited the city many times, but this was special. Everyone was just so chill and relaxed, and I got to spend some quality time with my son, playing games with a load of people from all over, and meeting a bunch of people I've seen on twitch and youtube. I'm so glad I got to meet Shivam, even if only briefly. Yes, I was one of the "thanks for being such a positive voice in magic" arse smoke types - right by Alayna Danner's booth early friday fwiw. (We got breakfast from the Albert shop every day! The bakery goods and fruit boxes/juices were great.)

I agree with everything said here. Cody is a hero. Kibu is a kind, generous, and all-powerful wizard. I'm so jealous of this trip, but I'm also so very, very happy that you all got to go on it and have such an amazing time. -Mischa

Shivam, I had an absolute banger of a time hanging out with you in the Netherlands during our trip. From you touching down in Schiphol, to standing in line for Magali (still patiently waiting for my AP to this day lol), to you breaking down in laughter when I told you they were reconstructing the water, to Düsseldorf. It was both a fever dream and has become one of my core memories in this life. Next time we’re all at the Famous Ice Cream restaurant don’t sleep on the Micky Maus 😂 What a wonderful discussion my friend 😊

I've been following Travis since I got into League of Legends esports back in 2013... In the same way that he got into magic watching Prof on TCC, is very similar to the way I watched his content to understand the League esports space. I grew up playing magic as a child and learned from my dad when I was 5 years old and also played a little in highschool with some friends. After not touching the game for a decade, I started hearing Travis mention commander more and more often on his Hotline League podcast and it peaked my interest. In addition, one of my best friends got into commander around the same time. Needless to say, I've been obsessed with casual commander magic since. Seeing the culmination of all my favorite hobbies has been amazing. Shoutout Shivam, Travis and my buddy Zach for bringing me back. I wish nothing but the best for you all 👊🏼

The conversation at 50:22 is so real. I travel a lot for work and SO MANY small/midsize town lgs’s have NO 1v1 magic options, they only have commander. And that builds more resentment towards commander than anything else

I’d love to have the dockside conversation w ComedIan. I agree w him that Gruul gets much worse if it goes. But almost all decks do. That’s because most cedh decks have red in them. Mostly because of dockside. The format is warped around dockside to the point of most decks w blue playing minimum 2 and sometimes way more than 2 clone affects… mostly for dockside. The things dockside enables are fun and cool and interesting. I wouldn’t ban the card. I would like to see a BowMasters ban and I think Ian would agree. I’m just not sure dockside increases diversity🤷‍♂️

Ian is such a great spokesperson for CEDH as a format. His attitude and energy for the format is what drove me further toward CEDH

Another great interview with an interesting guest with a different perspective. Still very much a casual player, but glad there’s an outlet for those people who lovely playing high powered decks. (Ideally not just stomping people at LGS’s or at kitchen tables).

re: the “less pubstomping” at about 15:00, that has sadly not been my experience. Went to a shop two or 3 days ago and played against two people who reinforced my beliefs that I shouldn’t play casual EDH with strangers. Witnessed mystical -> demonic -> mystic remora in someone’s deck described (by them) both as “fun” and as being their “weak deck”

Like they said, Sheldon knew what he was doing when he put together these two groups. We need people who see Commander for what it should be, a source of fun and joy for us all. Some make it to be a competitive thing, and I disagree with that mentality but fully encourage all people to follow my #1 Rule: Play the game the way you want to play it. If it brings you joy, then do it. Especially... ESPECIALLY, if you see Visara the Dreadful and get giddy about making that deck. I got... way too excited when she said her sister wanted to do it, despite Visara not being a great choice. Play what makes you happy! People having true fun are fun for others to be around.

I stopped watching game knights much like I stopped watching shuffle up and play. they felt too scripted for my liking. as though there was supposed to be one clear winner from the very beginning.

The Command Zone was always just background noise to me while I was doing other stuff. But ever since Rachel became a host, I started paying a little more attention whenever she was on. Just having a different perspective there really helped me be more interested in the show. As for other topics you guys touched on, i can't find any folks who want to meet up outside of LGSes. Maybe it's a me problem? I don't know lmao

Using an LGS as speed-dating for Commander Pods is an interesting concept. It feels like that sometimes with rotating groups when people come or go after a game, whether that be for time reasons, or wanting to play against other people. You get to see a variety of different playstyles that way

"The Masses" tend to not give good deck advice in my opinion because at least here in my city a lot of people do not play with a regular pod and just random people here and to be frank they tend to build and play a$$hat decks that are not fun to play against but regularly win so the question actually becomes "Do you want to have fun or to win? ..because this is how you win" Save me from min maxers 😂 I have been curating my pod's playstyle for almost a year and we don't always play the most powerful decks but we have a lot more fun! 😉

Rachel must be one of the best things that ever happened to the community. I can't think of someone that is more universally loved by the player base, probably the face of the format. She's kind, funny, clever and basically everything most player wish they could be. I hope she knows the amount of love that is coming her way, she deserves it.
