Tales from the Crypt: "Yellow" (1991) [High Quality]
zhlédnutí 153KPřed 6 lety
The Paths of Glory (1957) "homage" episode, featuring Kirk Douglas (who had one of the main roles in Paths of Glory) and his son Eric Douglas. Directed by Robert Zemeckis Kirk Douglas ... General Kalthrob Eric Douglas ... Lt. Martin Kalthrob Lance Henriksen ... Sergeant Ripper Dan Aykroyd ... Captain Milligan
Lessons learned from this episode: 1. Forcing and/or pressuring your kids to "follow in your footsteps" is never a good idea. 2. Military service should be encouraged, but not required (I'm a US Army veteran myself, BTW) because some folks just aren't fit for it physically, mentally, etc., or they just know it wouldn't be for them, and there's nothing wrong with that.
One of the best episodes, and what a cast!
Trust not the paths of gory dear viewers, for they lead to grave places.
Honestly, much like a certain episode of The Twilight Zone, this is my favorite episode of the whole show, not in spite of its lack of supernatural elements, but because of them. It's not a story about ghosts or curses or anything, it's the story of a father and son in war.
❤❤❤❤ The Creepy Time 1972 Ww Were Glued To The T.V. Screen ……. 😂😂😂😂😂😂lol I The Best Movies Tales from the Crypts
13:04 "NO WAYS HE GONNA GET THROUGH THERE!" John Hindaugh's comment will stay in the history books.
Great episode!!! Eric Douglas Was a fantastic actor! R.I.P
A bit longer and that could've been a movie.
Now he is double Bathurst 12 Hour winner🤯
I wish I could have seen this before I binge watched 6 seasons of Tales from the Crypt. I have learned to expect the unexpected lol. Still great. The acting performance from the general was really good and so believable
way a good start from him saying "DAMN!!" 😂😂 this 1918 war thing is pure gold.
Hungarian🎉
I haven't seen this since I was about 8 or 9 years old and I misremembered a few things. I could've sworn the lieutenant was played by Chris Elliott. Also, I remember an ending where the son turns into a zombie and hunts down his father. I guess I just made that alternate ending up in my head as a kid
Tales from the crypt is and always will be the best their ever was
His son was a very good man, when i saw this when i was younger i thought they were saying the son was yellow , but now i understand it was the father who is a coward. He's yellooow sir 😂
What I like about it is that , it’s based of off reality. No ghosts or monsters ect. Flat out based off of historical truth
My favorite to watch on Halloween! Love this episode .
They did a damn good job making an episode here.
This is literally the same ending of the opera Tosca.
Really impressed with all the military details, down to Dan Akroyd’s spot on ‘about face’ maneuver at the end. Must have had a good technical advisor on set
Holy shit. I've been looking 15 years for this. Couldn't find it anywhere... until... now.
Did any officer receive execution for desertion or cowardice during the war. I doubt it
There are monuments to ww1 soldiers that were executed that were affected by shell shock. It's possible that a officer is included but he would have been stripped of rank first.
The best eposode for me
One of my favorite episodes!!!
My great great-grandfather fought in WW1, he walked thru a mine or something and lost his legs. WW1 was a pretty Bloody War. The war turned him into a recent full man. Loosing his legs really took a toll on him.
Seeing scenes like this makes me think how f-ed we would be if the young men of age in our time today had to go to war. Theyd be like the enemies are mean to me, and i need my anxiety meds, and how do i hold a gun, what is this pineapple looking thing? LMAO we would be so screwed casue the men nowadays are all pussies. They are nothing compared to our great grand pas. So sad.
You do know these men ended up so traumatized and broken they became the anti war people who tried to keep the US out of WW2?
Out of all the shows around this time...twilight zone, outer limits, tales from the crypt, tales from the darkside, this episode was the best, followed by The Helgramite Method, and then you broke your promise.
Just a friendly reminder sometimes monsters don’t have fangs or claws sometimes there as human as you or I
why would he even join the army when his yellow his life matters more than his comrades life
His dad more or less forced him to
The amount of one take shots in this episode…always been my favorite style of filmmaking.
the man at 24:25 stole the show in the end
Patton part 2
I saw this back in the day. The grittiness of the WW1 set was well done. SGT Ripper, played by Henrickson, was a badass. The scene where he goes down fighting with that pump shotgun was the scene I always remembered.
I remember the night I saw this short. What a performance. What a story. Just on point. Never forgot this tale.
Kirk Douglas, in his book Let's Face It, recalled that after Eric's tragic death, the family received hundreds of condolences from friends and strangers. One of the letters came from a woman who wrote how amazing she thought Eric was in Yellow. She wrote, "Imagine, he [Eric] stole the show from Kirk Douglas."
Classic when I was a kid
Didn't kirk douglas rapes natalie wood
I know he was Yellow, but if he would have only fired his gun, he would have got transferred. That's the reason he got executed was for not firing his gun.
Such a sad story. A man forced military service on his son who has no desire to be in the army, then is sick enough to kill him. At least he was man enough to admit his fear, while the general had to look away from his own decision.
7:24 that cracks me up 😂😂
I can't stand that this show was done as a comedy.
This hits a lot harder when you realise Kirk and Eric probably had a lot of conversations like this.
I’m 10 minutes in and Lance Henriksen is superb as the Sergeant. Like a role that only he could have played.
Agree he was my favorite character in the short
No such things as small roles only small actors lance is a prime example of that .
Wasn’t he one of the Poker guys?
I kinda felt like he was gunna do that. That’s a whole lotta trust thinking someone’s gunna change the bullets to blanks😂😂
The ending was easy to see coming.
Captain Raymond Stantz!
I miss watching Tales from the Crypt & I miss the Crypt Keeper because of his laugh 😂😂 . The Crypt Keeper is an legend a great storyteller
We are all scared
Yip you said it also 2015 was super exiting when Chiyo took it on the last few laps in the GTR in this video down the bottom you csn see a south African flag on the gazebo thats me with family in the yellow shirt 😄
The morality of this episode is showing that some are not meant to be military members but also to never lie to your superiors. Sgt Ripper was the unsung hero.
Martin was a lieutenant so there for Sgt.Ripper was to take command from Martin
The morality is that war is blind destruction and death, run by higher ups with no care for the young men in the trenches. The father cared more about his image and standing than the life of his own son.
