@@nyvoreviews5443 I don't think it was activated when I tried it. When I got it, I tried my beloved HD800S on it and I was very surprised. After that, I downloaded the app and tried the turbo but I don't need it with iem's. I bought it for iem's, I use the Mojo2 and Valhalla 2 for the HD800S. But I will try again with the turbo mode on.

Don’t demo Shangrila-sr on a high end chain or it will make you question if you really need a life savings.

@nyvoreviews5443 I already did at Canjam London in July lol. Nobody in my group actually liked it due to the treble presence and I had my CRBN with me to compare and both did a great job at a demo song I put on so it didn't change my life or anything. The Warwick Acoustics Aperio was a bit meh for my tastes and the HE1 was absolutely the best out of all the halo products when I had a chance to demo them at a dealer for a whole day.

@@Leon-lg7zmthe chain matters a lot for Shang. I heard it twice. Once at canjam so cal and the chain def didn’t do it justice. It sounded only slightly better than XS on that chain (this is the same chain goldensound heard it on, which is probably why he hasn’t praised it much either) then I heard it at a friends place with Dave and mscaler and 3es elite and it was much much better. Best I’ve heard

I heard it with the Viva Egoista STX with the dCS Rossini with master clock at Canjam and we all thought the treble was too forward for our liking. Sennheiser are making a consumer estat headphone that will cost around £10k to be released alongside their HE1 successor which should be coming out in a couple years.

I still haven’t heard either version of he6. My overall notes on iha-6 for other headphones would be…. The single-ended is really bad The balanced is much better. It gives a fairly even tonality Somehow songs lack emotion for almost every headphone connected to iha-6 It is an especially bad pairing with susvara Staging is slightly better than amps that are cheaper than it but not nearly as good as more expensive amps

They are slightly different. I haven’t personally tried mk3 but heard there is a difference.

@@soulfulfool I hesitated for like a year because of the looks, but then I caved in and bought them, I still don’t like the looks haha. But I don’t like the look of hardly any headphones besides lcd-r and dt1990 , but at the end of the day looks just aren’t that important to me.

Depends on preferences a bit, but Hifiman XS is good, except kinda thin on vocals. 400se with a strong amp, or hd650bs if you want a dynamic driver. Hd540gold 600 ohm with velour pads is harder to find but another option.

@@nyvoreviews5443 thanks for the quick reply, I have the DT 770, 880, 990 and 700 pro, the hifinan HE4xx (I don’t know how they compare to the one you mentioned and I have the HD6xx. I’m actually looking at the Hifiman XS - nervous about the slight boost in highs. I now mainly listen to jazz and get super tired of cymbals with headphones like the dt770 it’s unbearable:/ is there different versions of the XS? I found a fairly cheap version but wondering if it’s an old model?!

@@pierreg8562 IMO the treble on XS isn’t that bad and you sort of adjust to it after a few days, but if you are sure that you don’t want that, I would recommend the hd540 gold 600 ohm with velour pads for jazz. It’s a bit hard to find (especially the original velour pads) but the best of the headphones I mentioned for jazz. Another (worse) alternative is hd580, it has some air frequencies but somehow it is presented in a soft manner.

@@nyvoreviews5443 i've had the XS for 24 hours the sound is amazing, another level vs every headphone i own. Cans are too big for my head though - let's see overtime how i feel. Build quality isn't impressive either, my feeling is they will not last long sadly.

So far my favorite for violin is an IEM. Mest mk2 paired with FiiO m17

@@nyvoreviews5443I’ll bet that is an awesome pairing. Right now for headphones I am loving the Sennheiser HD490 Pros paired with my FiiO Q15. Compared to my HD600 set I have real soundstage with the HD490S. The 490s scale very well as you increase the volume. No shoutiness or treble frequencies that come and bite your head off…even at VERY high levels. My favorite IEM set is a XLS X-One, retuned by Michael Bruce to approximate the MiM Dark Magician (the X-One has the same transducer as the DM).

It still had the same issues, and I returned them already. Possible reasons is that it became slightly unplugged when moving it to my review desk from my listening desk. But it was still muddy, still had staging issues (to my ears), and still had a problem with bass. Another possible reason is that this may have been a faulty unit.

The battery on my es100mk2 died and I have a replacement battery but haven’t had time to install it. So no. Not yet

@@Enzo_560 need_rage already mentioned this, but that didn’t help the headphone after I made sure it was fully inserted. It still had the same exact problems after ensuring it was fully inserted.

Just checked. They are definitely all the way in.

​@@nyvoreviews5443 At like 1:35 in your video look at the right input. The thicker part of the plug shouldn't be sticking out like that. You have the left side further in, but that one is still sticking out too far too. Just trying to help you figure it out. You still have an extra click to press past on both sides. I almost returned them because I thought the same thing as you, but these are great. I think I'll end up using them more then my HD 660s.

@@N3rdR4ge I know what you are saying, but after your comment I made sure it was fully inserted and turned it on and it still sounds the same. It may have come loose before the video when I moved it from my gaming desk to my recording desk.

well I have both at home and had rockna wavedream around. The dac unit of this thing is superb.

To me sounds like an improved rme adi dac2 fs that has better peaks. I’m guessing it’s the dark background that you really like about it the most. Def Not as good as holo may l2 imo. I have a $800 vintage dac that beats it.

@@nyvoreviews5443 effortlessness, detail retrieval and realism that only top of the line r2r dacs can provide and I heard dacs up to 20k.

I can only assume, you didn’t pair it with a totl iem, but tried to run it with demanding over ears that obviously will sound better from a powerful amp.

Widest left to right… Maybe the Olina, or the mest mk2, but the stax srm-001 is the widest I’ve heard, however it lacks midbass and subbass.

Imo. No. I liked AK sp3000 slightly better but they are both fairly close. If you want a duller/calmer sound then maybe you would like this one more instead.

At this price range there is always going to be some sort of sacrifice. For dt900prox it’s just has less than average technical ability, but probably the best comfort in this price range . He400se with a strong amp is a decent choice for music but not gaming. Verum1 is a decent fun headphone. R70x is a decent choice but lacks bass. XS is a bit more expensive but worth it imo. Hd650bs is a good option, Hd540gold 600 ohm.

I hate portapros and I don’t like EQing because I switch headphones and sources too often.

I just picked up the KSC75 for first time this week and love them. Stage is definitely, wider, less bass but a bit more detail. Overall for daily listening the KPH40's are still my favorite.... to my ear the most balanced. But I will say, more than any of these, Yaxi pads make teh large diff on the 40s - slightly more foam than stock and it pulls the driver further off the ear which increased the stage A LOT and improves lets the bass breathe. Really, everything gets better. Get's even better (for both IMO) if you swap drivers between KSC75 and KPH40.

It can , yes, typically the balanced outputs of amps have more power on the balanced side. Some matter more than others. Some do single ended very well. Chord dacs, for example, are really good at single ended.

@@nyvoreviews5443 thanks for that. So the only real consideration for balanced vs single ended is how much power you need? If so that's good. I just don't want to damage my headphones haha

@@everettedl well. It also separates the ground between left and right channels instead of sharing them. But all you really need to know is if you amp has both single ended and balanced, the balanced side is likely going to sound better (but some of them even have fake balanced outputs)

No, I have not tried Presonus 1810, sorry.

Mine was too for a long time, but it eventually gets uhm tiresome, to be mentally stimulated after a lot of hours (especially when my work is already mentally stimulating) I think I didn’t admit in this video that he1kv1 is def the better headphone.

Susvara manages to have the detail and stage that I like and timbre (when on a really good amp) while still somehow not making my brain think too hard.

@@nyvoreviews5443 Back on that dt1990. I’ve already spent 500$ for dt 1990. I can go up to 1000$. I have 4070ti 2k 280hz alienware monitor and creative g6. I mostly play competitive fps games.

That’s hard to say because the custom ones I have have less bass than the universal fit Iems. And those genres of music tend to want more bass. Also… for the 64 audio custom Iems that I have, they have swappable apex modules which either increase stage and reduce the bass (better for gaming) or bring bass up to a neutral level and reduce the stage (arguably better for music) These custom Iems I have are definitely not the best I have tried. But I can’t order a ton of customs in other brands to really compare. I just know that custom does alter the sound vs universal. The real benefit to custom is much better sound isolation, and they just look more professional. But don’t necessarily sound better.

Haha 😂 I’d really only buy them for winter comfort or budget gaming.

yes there is a difference. 580 has more air frequencies without being harsh. I like 580 more, especially after whatever pads where on the 580 which helped the stage... i asked Wayne but he didn't know what the pads were.

Thanks. I might not have all of the right answers, but I do see progress being made in the community of my goal to push other audio reviewers and audiophiles into a direction that is useful.

@@nyvoreviews5443 That is not an easy task for sure. One issue is that a lot of people are in a different stage on the journey with different budgets and different determination and goals. Going back to your lcd5 example, when I heard it the first time it came out at Axpona I was really impressed with it but looking back I could never reproduce that impressive sound, it could be few reasons (my stage on the journey,what I heard later, unit variation etc.) There is so many moving parts in this hobby getting people to agree on some things is very hard.

I haven’t tried it, the people that I know that have tried it aren’t really into soundstage so no clue. Maybe someone else can answer

I have nothing to gain or lose by giving a positive or negative review. So really just saying exactly what I think. It’s still useable for running, but I wouldn’t want to go any larger than this.. this is pretty much the limit for me for running.
