Quick and Easy Truck Bed Drawers!
We’ve all seen DECKED, a very impressive (and expensive) truck bed organization system. I’d love to have one but it’s overkill for my needs. I’m just tired of climbing in my truck bed to chase groceries that gets tossed around.
I bought everything from Lowes for less than $30 and it took me less than an hour to put together (one handed while filming). Cheap, easy and effective. Should have done this years ago!

First Person View of my Dad's Lionel "027" train set from the 1950s. Number 2055 Engine with coal car. Found this set in his basement while I was helping him with a few chores around the house. Sounds like a pretty fair trade. Footage courtesy of the brand new GoPro Session5 he just got me for my birthday/Hanukkah. Enjoy!
Thank you so much!!!!

No talking just doing and it’s easy to follow. Nice one! 👍👍👍
Glad you liked it!
Why tf would anyone leave it that long? Stupid idea!
@@jakelamotta2387 This wasn’t my primary car. It supposed to be fun to have on the side, but stopped being worth it. So I sold it
@@mcohn16 I mean that's kind of the idea, is to not leave it sitting too long and to keep the engine cool. I'm glad you sold it.
You sound just like solid brix studios
Keep it simple 👍 I will do that
Just here to say thank you, same runaround as you
No problem 👍
Nice work. Good stuff.
I've done everything but the faux track system under the totes. Nice touch.
You can also use another long 1x flat piece from the set or your own for better applications, as apposed to doing it by hand, you place lets say half the sticker on the long piece, you and it takes less effort to place it on close to perfectly, sorry if I explained it bad
So I very rarely make any comments on a social media platform, but felt compelled to give you a huge thank you for this video. I was in the process of converting my son's crib into a toddler bed and this video saved me from a phone call to the manufacturer inquiring how to convert. Would never have noticed the detail without your assistance. Would have just guessed that we didn't buy all the pieces needed. So thank you for saving me a lot of frustration and time wasted trying to figure this out. With this video help, the conversion took like 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Thank you once again!
Happy to help! I truly understand, because I was there myself before making this video. Then you factor in sleep deprivation and all the other joys that come with trying to keep a small child alive, the last thing we need is to interpret crap instructions. Hope your little one enjoys the new bed!
Great info and gave me a helpful laugh.
You’re the real MVP for this my guy. Thank you.
Happy to help! I was actually just took this crib apart last weekend, little dude is growing up…but this video lives on!
You deserve an entire hillside of heavenly scented Daffodils
This video was a life saver, thank you!
You just saved me bro thank you so much
would it work with the clear-backed stickers without taking away much from looks?
Yes! Clear stickers look perfect. No blue tint at all. The only thing to be careful of is to make sure there is plenty of windex to have the sticker move freely. Too little and the sticker glue will smudge/smear. You’re never see that on a normal sticker, but you might on a transparent one. Good luck!
Very clever! Great idea!
Thank you! 😊
Does this work with transparent pieces?
Sure does!
Saved me years later lmao
Smart and simple.
Thanks! Sometimes those are the best
Hey man this is awesome props to you for figuring it out because its great.
Thanks! I wish I thought of this 15 years ago, but better later than never. Real world testing after a few days and it’s surprisingly solid. Thanks for the comment!
Engineer at heart! Love it.
Indeed. Should have been one on paper too, but I still have fun. Thanks for watching!
Very cool idea!
Thanks! The idea just hit me one day last week. I wish I came up with it years ago… Up until now I’ve been storing things in the backseat, but my kids are getting bigger so I’m out of room. Been using it for a few days and it works really well.
Finally a video showing the trick in action! I’m building my first Friends set ever (Andrea’s Modern Mansion) and page 13 has the first sticker on the car you build at the start of the set. Your video cracks me up because I’m OCD too. I’m gonna try this method! Thank you! 🙏 Subscribed!!
Glad you enjoyed it! I’ve updated my method since making this video and it works so much better. I bought a bunch of small 15ml squeeze bottles on amazon and filled that with windex. Now I gently squeeze it and “paint” the windex on the brick. Highly recommended. Best of luck on your Mansion!
@@mcohn16 Whoa! That’s a great method I will also try! Thanks again!
Thanks bro you just bailed me out big time.
Glad I was able to help four years later! I made this video when converting this crib for my oldest who is now halfway through kindergarten. It goes fast…. Happy New Year!
Thank you I was just sitting here going how do I do this. You deserve the noble prize in parenting help.
I don’t know about that, but I certainly remember the frustration I had with these dumb instructions on top of the lack of sleep and all the other stresses associated with trying to be a parent. I can’t believe this video is still helping parents out 4 years later, but help to remove one less frustration after paying the price myself. Happy New Year!
I use soapy water, but I've always wondered if the windex method would work better. I'm afraid to try it though, since what I've been doing works. I try to apply the stickers to the pieces before they're attached to the build. I use a qtip to apply a generous amount of soapy water to the piece surface, then I pick up the sticker with a brick separator and dip the whole sticker in the soapy water too. I find I get a lot of control to adjust the sticker this way, but for curved pieces it can be awkward and you may have to hold down the sticker for a bit til it starts sticking.
Thank you so much i almost thought i ordered the wrong one
This is my third time doing this and I still needed your video to remember this. Instructions shouldn’t be hard to write but here we are. Thank you for this!
Looks like steam on the camera
Much appreciated! About to do this tomorrow!
Happy to help. Good luck!
im getting ready to do this conversion and im so glad i found your video prior to doing it!
Gonna have to try this probably. It’s too bad I have so many old sets that are driving me nuts.
Not all heroes wear capes😅
How old was your toddler when you converted their bed? My daughter is 2 & I’m not sure if we should convert her bed yet or not we have her crib at the very last setting and she can’t even climb out ‘’yet’’😂 but I’m thinking it would probably be a good idea to buy the part just in case in about a year or 2 years later they may not have it anymore not sure I looked at her same exact crib she has now and they don’t even sell it anymore at all awesome video!
Is waste of money you must be on drugs
Combining my two hobbies, nice. 😁👍
That a work of art. if you bought that somewhere send me the link, if you sell those post it on the facebook groups for packouts youll make a killing.
Thank you so much for your kind words. The bottom bin was the result of my heart and soul over a couple of months, squeezing in a little bit here and there while balancing a busy life. The endless curiosity of my two toddlers inspired this build (a.k.a Operation Protect Daddy’s LEGO). The design changed so many times but I’m really happy how it ended up! I could have saved a ton of time if I started with the packout cabinet ( www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Storage-Solutions/PACKOUT/48-22-8445 ) …but I had some plywood lying around and needed an excuse to go make some sawdust :-) Thanks for the comment!
@@mcohn16 I've got lots of packout....now I'm gonna need more to make something similar. Just invested in the "garage bins" that also go into packput for organizing bricks for builds. May line a wall with those at some point ...nice work!
@@d_townnigil Thanks! Yeah I have a growing packout collection for my tools too, including the crate (which was more useful than I thought it would be). In fact, this 3 drawer was supposed to be for my garage until I told myself I was only “temporarily” putting lego in it “this one time”. Then it morphed into this 😂
@@mcohn16 I have been doing my research, I do not believe the Packout cabinet is as big as what you have there. I am exploring building a set up so I can empty the contents of my utility closet which contains an assortment of flat boxes containing different specific tools. I don't thing the cabinet has the depth necessary to house those items because its dimensions are smaller and it appears less sturdy than say the rolling toolbox or even the drawers. I am not a Lego man per se, not for about 50 years at least. If that base cabinet is constructed from Legos, I would like to see your entire plan and list of materials you used to construct it. I would build two and start two Packout stacks.
@@billtaylor2405 Hi Bill, thanks is for commenting. You are correct, my custom built base does have a slightly larger interior volume than the standard pack about cabinet. Because I favored aesthetics, I limited myself to the size of the 3 drawer unit. I literally traced it on a piece of cardboard and used that as my template to build my box. If your project wants to maximize space instead, you can certainly grow your dimensions as you see fit. And while I have rediscovered LEGO recently as a creative outlet that keeps me in the house and out of the garage, the box isn’t made out of Lego. It’s 3/4” plywood glued and screwed with pocket holes. Primed, filled and color matched to Milwaukee toolbox red. There are 3D printed cleats on the bottom and purchased ones on the top that are screwed in to make it Packout compatible. Here’s a full set on cleats if you don’t have a 3D printer. a.co/d/bov4Q84 Hope that helped! Let me know if you need anything else!
well done!
Thanks! My design evolved as it was coming together. “I just need a box!” (Famous last words 😂)
