Monarch Pupating: Watch a monarch caterpillar turn into a chrysalis
zhlédnutí 406Před měsícem
Just before they pupate, monarch larvae spin a silk mat from which they hang upside down by their last pair of prolegs. The silk comes from the spinneret on the bottom of the head. As it sheds its skin for the last time, the caterpillar stabs a stem into the silk pad to hang. This stem extends from its rear end and is called the cremaster. While complete metamorphosis resembles four distinct st...

From the title, I was expecting examples of putting natives in pots. Still good info but not what I expected.
Can't stand that woman's sharp voice. Down here in Marietta, Ohio, I have not seen a single Monarch this season, but some last two years. Walked by a garden down the street today where some idiot just cut down the only lavender bush and all of the milkweed, where Monarch's may have laid their eggs last season. Humans do not deserve this place, at least not the riff raft lot down here.
Just what I was looking for! Thank you! 🤗
Very informative, thoroughly enjoyed. Thx!
Very cool thank you!

~Viewed with great interest and association for my Project Wingspan endeavor~
I don’t want to live in a world where the Monarch goes extinct.
In late July of 2019 a butterfly garden installation was completed with the intention of providing nourishment for butterfly migration from Hopkins/Minnesota at PID 2511722320067, a 1.8 acre wetland, adjoining PID 2511722320092, the 29.8 acres reclaimed as a Superfund site. This area is maintained by the City of Hopkins. As a Master Water Steward for the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District, I have an interest in this becoming a habitat restoration location for pollinators. This wetland also includes a stormwater runoff pond that has become habitat for geese and songbird reproduction and survival.
Note: the 2019 Thanksgiving Count dates are Saturday November 16th through Sunday December 8th.

~This video should provide an excellent source for maintenance of the Lone Lake Park Monarch Way-station in Minnetonka and to promote native plants that attract butterflies as a project in the 9 Mile Creek Watershed District for consideration by south Hopkins home owners~
~As I continue my volunteer activity as a Master Water Steward in the 9 Mile Creek Watershed District, this garden will be an important element of my maintenance of the Monarch Way-station at Lone Lake Park in Minnetonka, Minnesota~
~This short video connects us with our own Monarch Waystation at Lone Lake in Minnetonka, Minnesota, and our Butterfly Garden on Landmark Trail North~
