Patsy Cline’s Plane Crash Site (A memorial in Camden, TN)
Took a walk in the woods to visit the crash site from 1963 that killed legendary singer, Patsy Cline. She was just 30 years old when her plane crashed, returning from a concert in Kansas City.
Her hit songs included Crazy; She’s Got You; I Fall To Pieces; Walking After Midnight; Back In Baby’s Arms; and more.
The crash site and memorial is in Camden, Tennessee. She’s buried in Winchester, Virginia.

As I watch this amazing flood of memories from the last decade all at once, I am truly grateful for a life I'm not sure I deserve. While there have been hardships, disappointment, and angst along the way - these photos and videos are quick to remind me that I'm one of the luckiest people on the planet. The number of kind and impressive people I've met along the way is mind boggling. The places ...

I spent several weeks exploring the state of Kansas. I was genuinely surprised at how many interesting things I found to see and do in the sunflower state! Murals, museums, historic sites, great food, charming small towns, and so many nice people!
Bill Exploring Leavenworth, Kansas

I had a great time exploring historic Leavenworth, Kansas! The town has some amazing old buildings and great museums. Loved seeing the house where Fred Harvey lived and exploring Fort Leavenworth. This place should definitely be on your list if you're traveling through Kansas and looking for great small towns.

Toll! Ich liebe die Cabbage Patch Kids! Ich selbst habe 3 children❤❤❤
Alright Christine, show me!
I can remember asking my sister what she was crying about? and she shared with that Buddy had been killed in a plane crash ! I will never forget the gut punch I felt! He was so great ; always will be! when I hear him sing: even today: I still feel the punch !
Same here my friend. He truly was special. And i mean special. Every one of his songs sends shivers down my spine! So, special❤
His death was faked. I'm sorry.
@@panthira2240 get out of here with your theories we don't care
Is learning about history worth it?
Phlash, Love your show. Got my Rav 4 in 17, got Sirius for 1st time. NEVER turn on FM anymore except Thanksging weekend when Jim Kerr of 104.3 in NYC starts voter top 1043 songs day before Thanksgiving when he signs off for the day. However, don't you think the Frank Sinatra rest stop should have been in North Jersey, where Frank was from And the AC stop, maybe Southside Johnny? Keep playing the music, you can NEVER RETIRE! SORRY! Karen Funk North Brunswick, NJ
I was raised in Kansas and it's amazing when you tell somebody you're from Kansas. The first thing out of their mouth is some stupid wizard of oz comment. Nobody happens to know that Wichita is the air capital of the world. More aircraft built there than anywhere on the planette. Coleman is a Kansas company. Not to mention pizza hut white castle et cetera
I came here to read all the delusional comments by Buddy Holly fans who think he was 'The King of Rock n Roll'. 🤣🤣🤣 Nope, that would be Elvis. And even if Elvis had not existed, but somehow Rockabilly (which he invented at Sun) had come into being without him, Buddy Holly still wouldn't be 'king'. Here's a novel idea, stop talking out of your arses about the greatest, most influential music icon of all time - Elvis - and just enjoy listening to Buddy Holly. Or is that something you can't do without denigrating another artist? Apart from defending Elvis against the nonsense I read in some of the comments, I don't feel the need to denigrate another artists when I'm commenting on CZcams videos featuring Elvis. After all, why would I need to? None of them even come into the equation when it comes to the most influential, greatest musical icon there has ever been, not to mention the biggest-selling solo artist to this day. Be thankful Elvis did what he did, because without him there would have been no Buddy Holly - just a small-time country singer whose name would have long since faded into obscurity.
Hey a--hole... this is my page. And no one is bashing Elvis. You're just a sh*t disturber looking to cause trouble. Get the F off my page.
You turned it off too soon. Buddy and Nicki continued singing after the instruments stopped playing.
Well done Bill
Hi Bill, so glad you stopped by #VisitLeavenworthKS while you were in KS!! Great video!!
I’m only 22 , born in 01 . But man I love the blues
Haunted NO!!
The murals are great 👍
This version gives me shivers, it’s like you can feel the soul of this will forever love Buddy Holly
Was it recorded at 7.5ips?
This is more an advertisement than a description of the experience. Experience and talk about target diving from 7,000 feet at over 200 knots and the incredible G's on pullout. That's what being in the gunner's seat of a Cobra was about. Otherwise take a helo tour over the Grand Canyon.
Why don't you make your own video instead of being an asshole? I'm so sick of negative blowhards online.
So that's what the Ampex's sounded like... even on a screen, that's crazy!😳
Fascinating. Would love to see more marbles and the process of making them. Thank you!
Wow. Thanks for this. 🎶
Been there! In May of '22, on our way to Albuquerque, my wife and I had arranged for a tour of Norman Petty's studio. Being there was incredible, but having Kenneth Broad (and his wife) guiding our tour went way beyond rock and roll history, into the deeply personal sense that we were with friends. It was a rich experience that I am truly grateful for.
It is no small feat to have kept all that original equipment. Check out the tubes on that McIntosh 275 on the right hand side, where do you get tubes like that these days??? That was such an innovative sound at the time, it's hard to imagine just how fresh that sounded at the time.
Excelente, gracias por compartir..! Gracias.
A lot of Jefferson's lived in the house when he retired. It most have been full of activities and guests.
Nikki Sullivan on rhythm guitar, and Buddy's vocal mic acoustically picking up his Stratocaster along with his amp miked. Right off the one-track 1/4"! What a sound!! MORE, PLEASE!
I'm a gen z and I'm sick of apologizing for voice correction, and production that is so over processed and sterile. Even the music on the radio gets made on laptops, and computer plugins. This is talented young men in a room getting their chops up and cutting a timeless record. You can actually hear the room, the inflections and the zeal in Buddy and the Crickets. These are tight performances, simple yet with so much heart, and with a real chorus for goodness sake.
Well said, my friend. I am a Baby Boomer and heard his songs on the radio WHEN THEY WERE BRAND NEW! And loved them then and still do! Take it from a guitarist/musician of 62+ years ... Buddy was a brilliant songwriter, producer and an impeccable, perfect-pitch singer, who sang with great feeling. And while you are at it, check out Ricardo Valenzuela, aka, Ritchie Valens. His, "My Darlin's Gone" is one of the greatest songs of the '50s rock and roll era. czcams.com/video/_nOKy2orIzY/video.html
Good job my friend, you’re smart and you think outside the norm when too many Gen z ers don’t and like the horrible garbage that gets released into the music world Was born in 2003 myself and love all 50s and 60s music, you can just feel the heart and soul more with that music and the love is so much more real.
I was a studio musician in Nashville in the 90s I can tell you that is some sweet reverb . Not too echo not to tight just right.
Especially for the fifties
Some great equipment in those racks. Mcintosh tube gear along with a cool Altec board and the Mightry Ampex 350's.
Thanks that was great.
What????? original Buddy Holly recordings??? Oh hell..... one of my specialties is restoring lost audio recordings......I would LOVE to get involved with this project
His voice was super smooth. RIP Buddy
Loved Buddy Holly from when I was a child. All his songs are so nostalgic for me.🥰
...also Norman Petty would have recorded no slower than 15 ips. This recording is moving at 3 3/4 ips.
Hey know-it-all.... the man playing the recording is the SON of the engineer who recorded all of his sessions. Those are his Dad's original tapes.
@@billaroundtheglobe Ok, so the engineer made dubs. That makes them the closest to the masters now. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Universal_Studios_fire
Almost all of Buddy's master recordings were lost in the Universal Music Group fire in 2008.
Thank you!
We love your show. The music is great but your travel hints are so enjoyable. Our twin granddaughters are going from Indianapolis to Mississippi this July for national cheerleading competition. Do you have any fun spots we can stop at? They are limited to that they can do on the way down. The way back home is anything goes. We listen daily. Thanks for the joy you bring to all.
This is amazing! If you ever wanting to sell that stuff I'm sure Macca would be interested!
the man was right here...tysooomuch
wow mindblowing stuff indeed !!!! the real 1960's audio enginerring recording studio analog mono equipment from the late 1950's !!!!! amazing ! thank you very much for sharing this special piece of american rock n roll musical history ! coming from a NEW ZEALAND KIWI living in and born in NEW ZEALAND KIWILAND ! :)
Heroes get remembered, but legends never die.
I cannot imagine how good that sounds in the room.
It was pretty awesome!
Great video...wish I could've heard the discussion too!
Many reel-to-reel gems have been lost to fire, floods, and tape degradation over the years. Has that tape (in this video) been digitized to DSD? If that reel-to-reel is lost or damaged, it can never be re-created. It can never be replaced. And it would be a crime to not share the DSD file with the world. Hearing it raw, without studio compression, equalization, etc, would be a huge treat.
Well they recorded it with the effects printed into the tape back in those days but if the released version is a tape copy and this is the original this will sound better
Happens everyday on sixth and main
Can’t beat the aural purity & immediacy of these Norman Petty studio recordings. While Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound made his records sound massive on AM radio, it leaves behind recordings that pale in comparison when played back on modern audiophile systems.
💔💔💔💔💔
Sounds awesome even via your iPhone microphone, CZcams's low bitrate and my crappy laptop speakers. It just proves that the quality of he original source is all-important; "garbage in, garbage out" as a wise man said
Goosebumps
I remain amazed at the quality and mix of the Buddy Holly Story album which I bought in the early 60s. I do believe that tape recordings have a special sound.
Can’t wait to go this fall. Beyond excited
Awesome! Congrats. :)
think there is actually more of a story here
Incredibly beautiful! Thank you.
