Amazing idea, I am absolutely stealing. Ty sir!
Please do! A
Looks good Alec. Remington 700 BDL. I’ve got one in 30-06. 1985 model. Had an ADL version in 22-250 with STD barrel but someone ran off with it one night from my home. Anyway, great job in fitting that butt plate! Thanks for sharing
You are welcome and appreciate the feedback from a fellow shooter. A
I was skeptical at first, but great video. Well done.
Glad you enjoyed it A
Love the video!!!
Thank you. Two more coming. A
Great Little Cabin ,can't wait for the Next one ......Good Job Alec
Thanks 👍. Two more for sure just to get it built. A
Hi Alec This is your "Man Cave" in the back 40 ,in the states they would be installing a moonshine still. Or perhaps The windmill ranch Air B&B. So many possibilities. It does look great, you showed the sides panels interlocking ends and sides, Do you also use nails or glue to keep them together or is it just the weight of the boards above? Add a beer fridge and a TV your guests (or children) will never leave. Take care Owen m
Hi Owen. All your questions are answered in the second episode, "Walls". But for you, screws only, no caulk needed, added a lovely wood fireplace, A/C power from a solar panel but no TV ever. Just the sound of our woods and nature. I think you will like the next one. A
Looking forward to this series!
Two more for sure, maybe a third on internal customizations. A
Wow!!
It was long but lots of fun for Diana and I to make. One hint for the next episode "walls", read the instruction and don't have too much fun. A

Good tip! toolless setup is so much more convenient!
It really is! A
Nice job my friend
Thank you. Looks great again. A
Would have liked to seen the process of the wood putty repair of the stock.
Good point, but it was just mix and apply thin coats, 3 times till over filled then slow sand down. Will do if butter fingers ever lets it slide off again. A
Ok, thank you
Great Video Alec ,Keep them Coming ,Good Job .
Thanks, will do! A
I got the same model myself. Ive burned myself lm it 3 times. I didn't rush to tbe ER i just Said fu** it and carried on. Im 60 by the way. I have 15 steam engine of all types of makes and models.
That a lot of steam engines and I get a lot of fun too. Take care and keep the first aid kit handy. A
I got a new battery and it die from me just trying to start it it was turning over fast but then then more I try to start it the weaker the battery got and the time befor that I was riding it and the battery die on me out of nowhere I need help
Clearly not a battery problem. Either your starter is drawing too much current & killing the battery quickly and/or the charger (magneto) is not charging the battery. It could be both. If you have a multimeter, you can check the starter draw. You need an ammeter to check the charging circuit. They're not expensive. I'd also suggest that you see why the machine doesn't start easily & quickly. Obviously, if the starter has turn over & over a long time (more than 10 seconds), the battery will die. Maybe a tune up will solve the problem. Alec
Thanks for the video. You are awesome. Take care
Thanks for watching! A
Great Video Alec
Glad you enjoyed it A
The step is north of $3C. I use a $20 HD plastic step stool kept at the tailgate with a couple $25 Tractor Supply ratcheting load bars. No link to HD load bar!
That can work too. I like mine as it's toe controlled. A
@@AlecPeirceAtTheRanch have a stalled project involving telescoping tubes, twist lock pin and a model A bumper step plate. It would push up, swing in and stay. Toe operation untested.
Pretty slick. Now we need an “ in action” video of you backing up to each trailer and hooking up! 😊
Deal! A
I have a B&W of similar design and I really love it. And yes, I do have a trailer that high. It’s a custom special for vintage farm displays.
I love old farm equipment. Having played on them as a kid it's funny to think of them as vintage and me as 'mature'!! A

Hello sir
Good day. Thanks for watching. A
I have two of those welders, one I found at a garage sale for $15,00. the other was sitting on the side of the road with a free sign on it. Both needed new power cables and welding leads. The work great and last for ever.
I believe these arc welders may outlive all humans. Mine is fantastic and looks new again. A
This was supposed to be a reply to a comment left by somebdy else and I accidently created a new comment. Thanks for sharing the information abd great editing of the video. If the requirements to design the motor included making it simple to work on then it would be. Engineers aren't always asked to make it simple to work on and sometimes it's quite the contrary. There's a reason they have service technicians who have specilialty tools. They can complete jobs quicker than the hours you may get billed for. They can also sell the specialty tool to the DIY guy and make money.
Thanks for sharing with everyone. A
Hi Alec There is a reason that Forklifts are the most common piece of equipment around the world, they are just so useful and versatile. Many times I have used a forklift as an adjustable height work surface, One thing that comes with age is wisdom why bend down when you can lift up? Keep an eye on the straps the cheaper ones are not made to the same standards as the certified for lifting ones. Take care Owen m
Don't know why but they are versatile (with some imagination), and found everywhere. My straps are very strong, new and checked before use. I'm old because I'm not stupid! A
Any concern standing under the tractor’s loader in the event of a hydraulic line blowing and it suddenly dropping? I’ve never seen it happen and probably very unlikely. Been advised by mechanic friend to put loader cylinder lockout in place in case of a failure. Some times I do…. other times I don’t depending how long I’ll be under it. Thanks
Anything is possible but after all the crazy, stupid and sometimes dangerous things i lived through, I'm OK with this (so are my knees). A
Thank you Sir. Great way to measure!
Hope you learned something new. I'm still learning at 76. A
Where can I find it?
Got mine from Home Hardware in Canada. Try Google for "Heavy duty wheelbarrow holder". Good luck. A
Great video learned a lot in a short time
Glad it was helpful! A
Good one, can't wait to try this at the Camp to impress my Wife LOL Thanks Alec
Don't mention you learned it from me, get all the glory for yourself! A
Have you tried an iPhone and use The Measure app uses augmented reality (AR) technology to turn your device into a tape measure? Just wondering. The math is great to show thanks
An iPhone? You mean a rotary dial party line right? Ha kidding. Thanks for the suggestion. A
Hi Alec That is a neat trick, I wish in my math classes in school they had done real world experiments with those trig formulas then I might have paid attention. I just don't care what Y divided by X plus the square root of pi equals Z minus my shoe size. I thought you were going to sight the top with a 45 degree protractor then measure the distance to the base, I guess there is always more than one way to "skin a buck" take care Owen m
I taught high school science and the mandatory course material was not applicable to the real world. A
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. way back when. The timber cruisers in the logging industry of that area used that exact method of measuring trees. It works well and is pretty darned accurate.
I think so too. A logger would want to know how tall a tree was before cutting. A
Although I appreciate your effort, I would’ve just set the measuring tape on the top of the flag and just rise the flag up. Much Easier and more precise.
I have no way to get a tape up there. The pole is set in concrete and been there maybe 20 years so no idea how tall it is. Thanks for the suggestion. A
@@AlecPeirceAtTheRanchmy explanation might have not been the best, but you lower the flag down by the rope attached, than you lift the flag back again with a measuring tape attached to the flag, the measuring tape will unroll while you lift up the flag, giving you a measurement very precise, except the last 2-3 inches at the very top of the pole ..
Looks good I’d like to get those plans
It was all by visions in my head. There are building plans online for similar designs but I never thought anyone would want them when I was making it, and the follow up improvements. A
Still love mine.
They are great fun, even with my grandkids. A
They make filters that fit into these T baffles now, pretty cool. My mother in law has a failing leach field so im trying to keep all that gunk out of her new one im putting in. Her old one is completely full of black bio mat.
They are great when they work but boy they can be a headache if something breaks file the baffle pipe. Good luck keeping her tank in good shape. A
…and you go get a drink. I love this guy!
Thanks very much. A
I'd be careful about putting that thing down while it's still running. If it contacts the surface or something else it's gonna throw itself around unpredictably. I'm talking from experience. Love your vids Alec. We're about the same age and I only have a few surface scars thankfully.
Oh I have lots of scars, mostly mental!! Good safety point. A
What kind of socket did you have on the torque wrench
It's a standard 13/16" socket, 1/2" drive, that fits onto the special Spline Socket that comes with the Spline Nuts. So you thread the Spline Lug Nuts onto the stud & slip the special splined socket over the splined nut. The standard 13/16" socket mounted on any wrench, torque or not, then fits over the end of the special splined socket to tighten.
Always enjoy your videos and sometimes pick up a good practical tip. Thanks
Thanks 👍 A
Yep those are vernier calipers. Or we jokingly call them “very nears” 😊 you successfully did what we call “ measuring over wire”. Thanks for sharing sir
Yes! Thank you! A
Hi Alec your machinist friend got that idea from thread cutting on a lathe. You use 3 small wires to measure the depth of the thread you are cutting then compare it to an existing bolt of that pitch to see how much more to take off. Btw you are using a vernier not a micrometer they do the same thing only the latter is more precise. Neat trick though. Take care Owen m
That's it exactly. Even i can learn something, if i have to, i guess... A
@@AlecPeirceAtTheRanch "the man's prayer" HAHA I thought I was the only one that uses red green quotes, Take care Owen m
Haha, watch till the end, hahaha
Glad you got the joke. A
alway's Happy to see your Video's thanks Alec .
You're very welcome and thanks for watching. A
Enjoyed the video. I have a Bush Hog brand 5' cutter for which I have two sets of blades. I alternate blade sets about every 50 hours, dressing the blades I remove at my leisure so they are ready to install as necessary. I use an angle grinder with a flap disc, going slowly, and have gotten good results without ruining the temper of the blades. My bolts are specified to torque at 600 ft-lbs. My method which has served me well for twenty years is to use a five-foot cheater bar with a breaker bar and stop at OOMPH!
It's nice to have two sets of blades if you have lots of cutting. Did you see my video #140 on 450 ft/lbs torque? I use a multiplier for my old bones to lock down the nut on my bush hog. Safe cutting. A
thks alec
