I remember seeing this incident at the time. Williams was trapped on the ground. Ashworth looked round, saw that the referee was unsighted and deliberately raked Williams' face. Not even a penalty was awarded because, in those days, if the ref didn't see it, it didn't happen. Nowadays Ashworth would have been banned for two years.
