Same. I had a fusion done on my neck two weeks ago and the last thing I remember was seeing about 10 Drs running around getting ready to do the surgery. They put a catheter in while I was out and it's embarrassing to think about that happening with all of those people around. The worse part was the nurse that removed it. She didn't deflate the balloon all the way when taking it out and I started bleeding and passing blood clots. It felt like she ripped my urethra open. She blamed me for moving. Worst experience of my life. Id rather be put in an adult diaper and just pee myself.

I'm sorry that happened to you. This was my very first surgery and nobody whatsoever told me what to expect. I wouldn't have allowed that damn catheter if I was awake. I had a hernia repair plus gallbladder removal plus appendectomy. I wasn't even aware the surgeon would do all that. I never saw him or the anesthesiologist on the morning of my surgery. I found out about all this when I woke up in recovery and that damn catheter was already in. I had it in me for 2 days afterward. The removal was painless so that was the only good thing about it. I'm modest and I fret about who inserted the catheter. I think I may find out because I contacted the hospital about that and other issues. Let's see what kind of response I'll get (if any). Good luck to you. Take care.❤😊

@@RitaMBuda-tz6bi I'm sorry I'm just seeing your reply. They should 100% let you know what they plan on doing when it comes to putting in the catheter or at least let you know it's a possibility that they may have to use one if the surgery runs longer. A lot of people especially women have trauma when it comes to things being done against their will or with them not knowing. This is embarrassing to admit but ive never actually been to the gynecologist due to trauma and I'm 36! I've been married since I turned 19 and we opted out against having kids. My fear being one reason. I know that's bad but I wish I had the opportunity to prepare myself for them being that...invasive. I would've done it still because my neck pain was that bad but I needed time to come to terms. It sounds dumb but it's just how I am. Im still peeing blood and can't pee fully (sorry TMI) I just got back from my primary Dr and she gave me antibiotics and told me to drink cranberry juice last week. It's been over a month! Something is wrong.

this was done terribly. why are you inserting a sterile catheter and allowing the outside cover to be pushed into the male cock. very bad example of skill. also should be lifting the shaft up towards pts face for easier pass by the prostate. can tell you are a skills nurse and not a real nurse.

Thank you for this presentation. I am a 71 year old man, my PSA level is 9.7 at this time, it has increased from low 7 to this 9.7 over the last 3 years. My first appointment with a urologist was with an older doctor who was honest regarding the PSA test, he told me that since the test started there was a large increase in people identified with prostrate cancer and a lot of people had been treated for those cancers but at the end of the day there wasn't a huge difference in mortality. There is a video here on CZcams where the fellow who developed the PSA test said it was being greatly misused by doctors who aggressively treat those who are found to have prostrate cancer. This presentation is balanced I think. I've avoided doing anything beyond the PSA test although another doctor was chomping at the bit to do a needle biopsy. I don't have any symptoms so at this point if I do have cancer I hope I am one who dies with instead of dies from prostrate cancer. Thoughts?
