This was a really fantastic layout that I have admired ever since Dave Frary first published the series in Model Railroader magazine. I am finally getting ready to build my own as well some 30 years later. Sadly though, I will need to cut out some of the middle section because of space restrictions. But still am very excited to venture on this journey.

At 26:01, when they show the map of the entire United States, you can see that none of the New York Central routes are illustrated. I wonder if that means the Pennsylvania Railroad was foreshadowing the rivalry between them and the New York Central with a move like that.

James, What software are you using for the block of flight parameters along the upper portion of the screen? I fly a DJI Mini 4 Pro and would love to have that data on my screen/iPad while I'm flying. Also... LOVE the air traffic radio. Been awhile since my last flight as a pilot. Also the music is on time! We had an engineroom fire in an ALCO locomotive here in Victoria Australia in 1990. Fortunately it was 3rd unit it was well involved in fire all we could do is uncouple the units and place the ALCO in the cripple siding and call the local fire department. Unfortunately it was DBF it was later hauled to Ballarat Loco depot and scrapped on site the other 2 locos which were Australian built EMD GT-26s were put back on the train and back on the move to Adelaide South Australia

4:26 AFAIK N&W was a post -ACW Railroad built out of the ruins of battered South. the Southern Railway was also another made by mergers of smaller RR (prewar and maybe postwar) and ran much larger networks. too large to maintain throughoutly.

Man, that was great! Still, it's a little sad to see how much we DON'T do anymore, even the small things. "The engines are inspected, washed, and cleaned before their next run." The wash rack out here may as well be out of service for how rarely it gets used. Our engines are filthy, inside and out.

I had no idea that “can signals” existed so long ago. Great to see that footage of Mifflin Tower. That tower lasted into the mid to late 1980s I believe. Thanks for uploading this for us 👍

if only training videos today were produced this well. They all have new-age music and real people "acting" so unconvincing one finds themself in a constant state of cringe while watching
