- Resonator Delete
- CTS Turbo Inlet
- CTS Intake

Better than Honda swaps
I have a 06 Chevy ss sedan it’s a 2.4 auto I put a supercharger on I’ve debated looking into this swap so I can ditch my automatic transmission has anyone done with the supercharger?
Math says that if this thing even puts 160 to the wheels then it is overpowering pretty much even the most built stock turbo Focus ST.
Don’t drink and work also…you could fill up the radiator with beer instead coolant. Cheers !!!!!
What size tires do you run? I want to put wider tires on mine but I don’t know what size to get
how bout the solstice its basically a gm Miata for parts wise
hello my guy i had a question what do you thunk about the lea e85 variant?
it's Gen 2
Have the link of the fender flares?
The company I purchased these through has gone out of business sadly.
where did you buy your engine ?
It was just somebody local to me.
I see you are still running the Yonaka coilovers. No issues since install?
I never had an issue but the car is now out of my possession so I can’t comment.
How can I wire them to the stock wire harness
Appreciate your video man, I was going to go Ecotec, but I ended up choosing J35A4 instead. 240 hp (270 with just a tune) over the Ecotec ~160 and Honda reliability was what sealed the deal for me. I'll be making some videos of the process as I go thru it. I'm intimidated by the swap as well, but hoping I'll have your results/feedback when I'm on the other side!
I would love to convert my cobalt to rwd I’ve been thinking on using the Pontiac solstice but I was wondering if this trans adapter and Miata trans will work on the supercharged lsj engines
I’m sure you can reach out to EcoTec Miata and they sell the adapter. It’s quite a seamless install using their adapter plate.
@@ChaseMyles I had a Suzuki SX4 with a front wheel based AWD power train that blew it's engine . Sadly I don't have it anymore but I often wonder if an ecotec would have first of all fit and how easy of a swap would have been to make .
Nice job. Now you have to get the car up to 130 mph and see how it holds the grip.
Don't forget the le5 is a ss sport model only engine. The hhr ss has a 2.0 turbo motor called the lnf 2006-7 cobalt ss have the supercharged lsj motor. The 09-10 base-lt have the LAP motor which is vvt and makes more power and has more tunability over the 05-08 l61s. And 05-06 l61 cars are not tunable unless you pull all ecm components out and use a standalone. I have a 5spd LAP xfe In my cobalt
It’s been a year since this comment, but I’d like to know more.
Are all of these different variations of ecotec?
@@zeropointstar yessir, theres alot more than that too
Skyline!
Surprised nobody else noticed it!😂
Hey man, i got myself a 2007 forester and am also planning on doing an ej205 swap, got any tips or helpful advice i could use that you wish you knew yourself? thanks!
“It’s just a miata” that one hurt bruh😓
I got the same problem but mine drives fine
I'm looking to buy some flares for my Miata but am not a huge fan of the black plastic look, does anybody know if you can get them sprayed to your original car colour? Don't really have much knowledge when it comes to Cars so am sorry if the question sounds dumb
Yes, there should be no issues paint matching them to your car.
@@ChaseMyles thanks mate my rear arches are full of rust so looking to just get the wide body arches put on and the original ones cut off
Where get you get the header?
I snagged mine off of eBay surprisingly. Held up fantastic
I got the same exact model lmao
Did You have any issues with the lower coilovers mount fitting into the lower control arm? Bought these coils and they don’t seem to fit unless I’m doing something wrong
Nope I didn’t have any issues whatsoever, they slid into them quite easily
i have a 2009 cobalt lnf turbo engine would this fit ?
The 2.4 came in the cobalt sport. Not ss. Ss had lsj (supercharged 2.0) and lnf after 09 (direct injection turbo 2.0)
There was a non-supercharged version of the SS offered that came with the 2.4
In 2006/2007 they were marketed as SS, in 2008 they were rebranded as the sport coupe - so technically were both correct haha.
ecotec swap and put on an ITB. There you have a wannabe miata engine that reaches 200whp XDDXDX
I supercharged it with the OEM cobalt SS blower. Made it to 201whp/176wtq very conservatively tuned.
@@ChaseMyles I'd love to see the blower install
What did you have to do to the lsj supercharger to fit the firewall?
How many inches wide are your spacers? I need them asap my wheels look tucked in because of my flares
so late, but how are they now if you still have them? might buy a pair to up from stock!
Sadly I just sold the car - but they still felt great even after a few years. Very light use however, but I had 0 issues
where did you get the motor from?
Nice video bud. I have a '92 1.6l ....man I wish I wasn't from Cali so I can do that swap.
Yeah that is definitely unfortunate! It’s a fun swap
you can since the engine is newer, you’d just need to throw a catalytic converter on there, i recommend the pontiac Solstice/saturn sky exhaust manifold and catalityc converter be put on there, you could even do the 2.4 turbo that comes in the Solstice GXP/Sky Redline, you’ll just need the emissions components
Oh and you’ll need a “referee station’s” approval basically the guys that smog vehicles
@@PollosHiPerformance yeah it ain't happening too much hassle lol. Takes the fun of having a swapped motor.
@@charliehustle2579 that’s why i love living in no emissions counties in AZ lol i have an ls7 wrangler and a 5.3 Cherokee lol And my brother is about to put the ls1 from a vette in his 2013 wrangler to get rid of the crappy 3.6 lol
What are you using to tune on and has it been a pain to get someone to tune it?
Using the stock ECU - using HP Tunes to tune. Had no trouble with getting somebody to tune it. The original tune came from the EcoTec Miata team - but i worked with a local tuner when doing the supercharger setup.
Great video but you could at least cleaned the wheels.
got an 03 Forester, should be SOHC, can you add a turbo to these or do you need to "build it up" with forged rods, crank, and pistons ? I think I know the answer. They make a tool to get AVCS pulley off. I DON"T know what i am doing, but I am learning. I replaced the head gaskets on a 99 legacy DOHC, cleaned the valves, new stem seals, and drove it 250 miles after putting it into a vanagon. Vanagon SHOULD get painted by end of Month and home by Feb.
I'm pretty sure you can bolt on a bunch of STI parts from the same year including the turbo and what-not since it's the same engine but N/A, don't quote me tho
My stock 1.6 just went out might be getting an ecotec
It's a commitment for sure, however 1.6L replacements can be had for quite cheap! Weigh the pros and cons :)
quick question, where does the far left vac line on top of the intake manifold lead cause mine is blocked off and i don't know where its supposed to go
Hey sorry I dont have the car anymore otherwise Id check for you. I can't remember exactly where that went to.
@@ChaseMyles its all good, i found out that it goes onto what i think is the recirculation valve on the top mount
Nice 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
I heard Ecotec engines are notorious for front crank seal leaks..
I haven't had any issue so far!
So do miatas
Tires size ?
I was running 205/50R15 at the time Have now switched to 225/45R15
How kms on it
It had 155,000km when I picked it up
What brand is the side skirts, fender flairs, and front lip?
Fender flares are Autokonexion 40mm, front lip is just a generic ebay lip. The sideskirts are generic bacon strip side skirts, however these are fiberglass, most are plastic.
This is my first time to be doing a JDM EJ205 Single AVCS swap in my 03 WRX. The JDM Single AVCS EJ205 that I bought from JDM of California has a Drive by Wire throttle body. So I bought both halfs of the AVCS wiring harnesses and I had to buy a JDM automatic ECU. Before I start swapping the Drive by Wire to the Drive by Cable throttle manifold. I have some questions to ask- 1. Gladly you have an automatic too and I am wondering how the auto is able to handle. Are you keeping regular transmission fluid changes? Do I need to buy a better torque converter? 2. Did you reuse the throttle manifold and TGV gaskets? Will my old ones be good to reuse?
Aurastyz The auto was ok, I would have much preferred a manual transmission. I did a fluid change and the transmission was done, changed the spin on filter and resealed the pan. I replaced all the gaskets I could when swapping the new motor in, including the manifold gaskets.
@@ChaseMyles Alrighty, thank you so much! I bought the gaskets I needed for right now.
I've got an oil pump leak in my 90 miata. Engine has to come out. Everyone keeps saying it's less work to pull the trans out with the engine., But I don't see that, I'm going with the engine alone. Do you have to remove the starter to get the engine detached from the trans? The top trans bolts can be reached from the top in front of the firewall.
It's been a while since I dug in there with the stock 1.6L, however its easy enough to get at everything. I believe the starter needs to come out.
Thanks for this video. I was about to write off Ecotec when I noticed that their "complete kit" has no exhaust. Conclusion: "complete" is not complete and has potentially time-consuming and expensive surprises ahead. What do you think about vibration through the engine mounts?
Peter Enns no kit is ever 100% complete. You definitely feel the engine in the car - it’s by no means a Sunday driver swap. The car is RAW and rowdy, but definitely a fun swap
I found that Yonaka exhaust when paired with the LE5 to drone terribly with the hard top installed. I chopped up the rear section to install a different muffler to cure the drone.
Phil Becker My L61 has been ok, not really much drone at all. What size piping is your Downpipe? I went 2.25”
@@ChaseMyles 2.5 from the 1320 header all the way back. It wasn't horrible without the top on. With the hard top it was an irritating constant drone. I expect it is exacerbated by my lack of carpet and possibly my flat aluminum trunk floor which may have been acting as a passive radiator too. Whatever the case it was bad enough to motivate me to chop out the Yonaka muffler and install a Dynomax VT muffler which does not drone.
Phil Becker Interesting! I love the exhaust, i agree it’s quite loud, but I don’t think mike drones that terribly, I leave the hard top on 90% of the time as well. I could also be half deaf, who knows haha
How they holding up bubba
