The iPhone stupified us.

I've been a lifelong fan of Apple since mid 2005 when I bought the iPod Video... Bought my first Mac in 2006 and have never ever felt the desire to return to PC's. iPhone, iPad,  Watch and the latest now is Vision Pro. I'm ultra deep in the ecosystem. During covid I lost my job in 2020. I applied frantically everywhere needing money. On Indeed there was a company that was super vague of what it was, but the pay was good. I applied and one day later I got a call saying it was for Apple's Data Center. I was shocked. I initially almost said no because of that, "don't meet your heroes" thing, but I just said yes and went for it. I needed the money. I contracted there for two years, not as an official employee. Apple Corporate is FAR different than Apple Retail. You literally are right there with the nuts and bolts that hold the foundation of the company together... I became obsessed with it. I wanted in, I wanted to just go for broke and work for my favourite company..... And those jobs are WAY harder to land. Two years of trying and I finally landed the job. It has, by far, been the best job I've ever had. They legit care about their employees to a level I've NEVER had at other jobs. This all being said, with all of my near 20 year history of loving Apple, I never experienced an Apple under Steve and quite frankly I don't think I ever would have wanted to.... I love him from afar and there's no way out of it, without Steve Jobs Apple wouldn't exist. His extremely complicated way of handling things shaped the company piece by piece, but let's face it.... The guy since his early 20's literally was rich beyond imagination. Being a multimillionaire in the early 1980's is insane in today's money. So when money is DELETED from your life, you fundamentally change. I am certain that most people, upon being told in their early 20's, "look, you have enough money to do whatever you want forever" would do just that. A lot of people become total corporate assholes and go into the numbers game of, "I just need more, and more, and more money" but Jobs, to his credit NEVER stopped being passionate about what he loved and that's what made him so different. He cared about the end user and the end product, probably hugely to the dismay of his own employees. I am a person who usually just puts my head down and does what he's told, however if Steve were to have interviewed me and directly insulted my intelligence or anything I hold dear, yeah that meeting would have ended fast. I probably could not have stopped myself from exploding on him and throwing a metal chair into some precious glass wall in a fit of rage and then be pulled away by security. There ARE limits to what you do and don't say to people and Steve never ever understood some social norms. That is one thing I will never respect about him, but a number of other things I do.

He offered me $40MM for my company. It was a solid deal, but then he convinced me to pay him $40MM. What a genius, thanks to him he took my company while I paid him. Boy! Thanks to him a learned how to negotiate! WOW!!

Steve Jobs didn't allow us to take a dump at work. He would say "NO POOPING!" like he meant it. If he catches you, he'll record you on video tape and show it to everyone. Anyone who wasn't so lucky was humiliated and got PTSD. He threaten to get revenge on Steve Jobs but idk what happened to him.

The worst thing about Jobs is the legions of mediocre hack bosses that now imitate him.

Observing Apple as a company, I just assumed it was run by aholes based on the pretentious nature of Apple product users. Horrible company with overpriced products and a restrictive ecosystem.

so many of the wonderful things said of Steve sound like praises to a slave owner. I don't get how people can miss the elephant in the room. But the pyramids! Look at how amazing they are. Yep. Slavery is amazing. That's all I hear when people talk about these loony toons.

Listening to this interview and hearing about how Steve Jobs was so meticulous and unrelenting against mediocrity makes me realize how lost an opportunity was that David Fincher didn’t direct the Steve Jobs film. It would’ve been like if Steve Jobs directed his own movie.
