Does Finger Placement Matter When Shooting A Pistol?
In this video at the range I perform a highly scientific (not really) test to determine if finger placement effects the shooters accuracy when shooting a pistol.

How do you survive if you break the optic? Is there a option for iron sights?
Buy the Shockwave 590S. It comes ready to handle minishells as well as any length shell and different shell lengths can be intermingled.
Looks like a sweet 9mm carbine. Everybody talks about glock mags yada yada but real men own Berettas!
So would you say buy new mags if you purchase ?
The problem was actually the mag release. I made a follow up video on what I found, but long story short, there was a burr on the mag latch, so even when the mag release button was fully depressed the burr was still holding onto the mag. After taking a file to it the mags released as intended. Since this video I've encountered a few that had the same issue, most likely a bad batch of parts that nobody caught.
Click! I could predict every time it would go click. Hint: Mag springs have to be an exact length. If there is too much pressure the bolt will ride over the round. Note : if the front of the round has a scrape, spring is too tight. other problem is the feed ramp is not machined properly. These are pretty much made in Turkey. Very low quality. My suggestion, if you want a hog round in AR platform - go with a 450 bushmaster. I have worked on 100 s of these before I retired. 410 is a bad choice and not dependable in the AR platform. Safir is a Turkey manufacturer that started this mess. Dont waste your time and money doing this. Just buy a shotgun that is tube fed instead of a mag. Just saying! Imagine a mad hog running at you and the gun goes "CLICK"
Yeah, the .410 AR has definitely been a disappointment overall. I got this upper as part of a trade so it's not as upsetting as if I had purchased it outright. I have a coworker with a 460 bushmaster AR, he seems to like it. Might be something I try down the line.
May I ask where u got the tube extension at?
I ordered it on Brownells, but there are a number of places that carry them.
What s the name of the tube extension?
NORDIC is the brand, the extensions are all the same but you buy the tube nut based on the model of shotgun.
I'm just a recreation shooter so I'd be the last one to ask but I appreciate your information and making the video. But, I want to say this: I was at a gun store 2 weeks ago and I was ready to purchase a new handgun because my Glock 19 doesn't shoot well for me. And the person behind the counter said it could be your trigger position rather than needing a new gun.
Trigger position is kind of a catch all "try this" problem solver in my opinion. Does it matter, yes, is it unique to all shooters, also yes. The idea these days is ideal handling, if you have a solid grip, good secondary hand support, and proper stance the trigger finger position is mostly irrelevant. That all said, it assumes the shooter has a firearm in which they can achieve a comfortable finger position with the trigger while applying handling principles. Regarding Glocks, they're not known for their universal ergonomics, I know people who shoot well with anything but a Glock. You try a different brand of an equivalent size to your G19, if you have a range that rents or a friend with something it would give you an idea if it's you or the firearm design. I buy and sell a lot and personally I prefer a number of firearms over Glock. Glocks are functionally reliable, but if the ergonomics aren't right for you it might not be your best choice. Long winded reply, but just some thoughts to consider. Thanks for watching.
@@citizenpew you're right because when I grab my wife's Smith and Wesson m&p. It shoots much better for me. Maybe it's time for me to give up the Glock. 😆
lol, just a heads up, it's tough to give up the Glock. If you have a number of Glock mags you might look into BUL Armory's AXE, the compact version uses G19 mags and the full size uses G17 mags. They look nice and the ergonomics is night and day compared to the Glock. I did a video on both the compact and full size, and I'm looking at getting the optics cut model as well. The base models (non-optics ready) run a little over $400 bucks, so easy on the pocket book too.
For a survivor gun be alright if....it would chamber 3inch shells 410 slugs and long colt 45shells but they don't... Useless fff..guns....
Looks like you’re doing some interesting videos I’ll give you a follow.
I appreciate that. I'm always open to ways to improve as well. Thanks for watching!!
I like it. It’s useful as I had carpel surgery in the left and have arthritis in the right. It’s overall easier to operate efficiently.
"NON FREE STATE READY".... STILL illegal in WA State
I thought it had an adjustable stock and cheek pad?
I think a newer version exists that does if I remember correctly. The one in this video is the first gen, I saw one on buds that has more of an AR style stock. I haven't had a chance to put my hands on one yet myself.
A 600-dollar (from Rural King) 9mm looks really fun, about half the price of the 30 cal and you have mags that fit your Chippa pew pew, sounds like a win-win to me.
No one cares about the pronunciation. Just get to the gun review.
Try that at 25 yds and you’ll see it matters
Distance variations will definitely be in part two of the highly scientific testing.
I like. I have the fde 20 gauge sxp. I really dig the trench aesthetics, kinda want to make mine look like this
I think it matters if you're learning to shoot and/or don't have a foundational grip. Pulling the trigger (because you're not pulling the trigger straight back because your finger is connected to your hand on the side of the grip) can move your placement horizontally. I think you've adapted this with your grip to compensate which is obviously advantageous and again limits or almost eliminates this. I think the practice of shooting and finding that stable grip is more important but to try and see if your trigger finger placement makes a difference until you find your working formula that allows you the most accuracy. Additionally (not saying I disagree with your decision to shoot at 15 feet) the spread would double at 30 feet and have a more discernable difference to learn from to correct .
Good stuff, I agree, new shooters and those with little training, finger placement could have a significant role while they learn other handling principles. Distance as well could be a factor, further out could definitely show more deviation from center. I'll probably do another video on this after I get some more feedback to perform a more scientific test.
@@citizenpewThank you. I appreciate your video and all your time, monies and efforts in creating this video. I'd be curious as to the most important fundamentals that correlate to accuracy. Maybe showing how choosing the correct firearm that fits in your hand, proper first and support hand placement which totally negates finger placement and stance, I think proving those grip fundamentals are what really matter if that's what your testing shows. That would aviod your viewers not going down an unnecessary rabbit hole of listening to many just to be more lost. Either way, appreciate what your doing and your videos.
Grip is definitely important, and worthy of a video for sure. I know many who won't shoot certain firearms because the grip just doesn't fit right in their hand, and I have just the variety to demonstrate that!! Appreciate the feedback, I'm always looking for ideas on content outside of just demonstrating a new firearm I picked up.
To expensive
Cheaper than dirt has .30 carbine mags for sale.
I have a Bersa Thunder 380 that holds 15 & 1 in the chamber. ❤️the gun!,,
For most people who shoot a few times a year, the answer is no.. If the rifle is over gassed and you want optimum performance, then the Rifle Speed adj gas block is the best..Big difference between NATO spec ammunition and cheap low pressure steel case if follow up shot speed is desired..
I have the Axe C. Absolutely love it!
I can't believe how nice of a firearm they are for the price.
I have a chiappa 1911. I got mine at a pawn shop so Mine. looks a bit old.
I got the same gun 20ga. but in black. makes a great snake gun walking around the pond. it's also my by the bed night weapon. can't beat these for the price.

I am a card carrying revolver Bro but I just bought one. It will be a couple of weeks before I can get to a range so I don't yet know if it was a good decision but here is my reasoning. I have been out of shooting for quite some time and I wanted an affordable weapon to rebuild my skills and learn to deal with my less stellar eyesight. Being a 22 which is not really practical for reloading I don't mind it flinging brass all over. If I get my knee fixed it would be an easy lightweight woods walk about gun that could pop an occasional rabbit or squirrel. It also carries very easily and can serve as a defensive weapon in swarm of angry bees mode due to capability for rapid aimed fire. There are some negative reviews as there are with any weapon but the proponderence of positive reviews including long term when combined with the low price made it seem a reasonable risk.
bro they need to bring dueling back to the olympics
Had lots of fun with mine
9 mins and 23 seconds in and i know why his wife divorced him..
Has this man ever operated a weapon.. wow.. sketchy to say the least.. also edit works wonders..
What an idiot
Nice weapon…
Although this system seems very cool and retro anesthetic. At 400 bones I'd go with the extar . I'd love a review of that piece.
I just looked up the Extar, and you might see this in a video down the line, lol. I just picked up a couple firearms so I'll have to let the gun fund build back up, but this is getting put at the top of the list. Thanks!
From every video I have watched I see the AR style charging handle keeps popping back witch it should not do.
I eventually took a loss on this firearm just to get rid of it.
@@citizenpew I was about to purchase it but after seeing your video I will search for something else. Thank you for the video.
Glad I could help.
As retired police, I trust more the 357 revolver 6 inch more than semi automatic.
I'd love it but it doesn't seem to work worth a sh_t.
It was definitely a disappointment. I've managed to get it working well through a bit of gunsmithing, but no one wants that out of the box.
The 627 Tracker or the 66, which is a 686 clone, are both sound options if you want a big 6-inch .357 at a budget!
I have the sidekick & lux it.
Best rifle made!!
I've got the PMR30 and the CMR30 to go with it. I had some issues with the PMR when I first bought it (bough that one before the CMR), but I took some time learning to load/reload the mags and I haven't had any issues the past few times I've gone out with it. Love how light it is and the capacity. Loud little bugger, and it always gets a few looks whenever I start shooting. It's not "optics ready" but you can buy a Burris or Doctor optic plate from Keltec that only takes a few minutes to install. I've seen a bunch of people talk about getting the MCarbo upgrade kit, but I see no reason to get any of it beyond MAYBE the stainless steel feed ramp and the improved buffer pad. Though I need neither right now, I can see the plastic factory feed ramp maybe getting scuffed up enough to warrant a more robust alternative. MCarbo says the buffer bad wears out quickly, but I've got hundreds of rounds through mine and the buffer seems fine. Nothing else in the upgrade kit seems necessary, all the rest seem to be more cosmetic. I might buy one of their metal PMR mags, but at $75 a pop, that's a hefty investment (and it looks like they have issues with them). Factory mags are around $30, and seem sturdy enough. Great video. Thanks for the info.
I had both the PMR and the CMR as well, super fun at the range. I think the success of KelTec's PMR-30 definitely led to other manufacturers making their versions. Keltec had the benefit of first to market in that aspect. Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
What good are they, you can't hunt with them
Stationed in Italy for six years, (79-85, USAF). It’s pronounced Key-ahp-paw.
Do you have to knock the magazine every 5 rounds while loading like the PMR-30 to properly seat the rounds?
No, which was really nice. I did a video a few months back comparing .22 Mag pistols, I'm pretty sure I mentioned that as a perk over the PMR-30. I did like my PMR-30 though, but the M&P is far superior.
I live a non free state,First governor Ronald Reagan banned loaded open carry in 67. Then Republican Governor Deukmejian banned assault weapons in 89-91. Not to be outdone the Democrats are trying to ban the rest.
It's Aero not Euro. I have the pistol with a 9mm barrel . and planning a ARS in 460 Rowland For Back Country Survival, You can tune the blowback to the ammo your using.
Yes a rail. I have a red/green dot. I have it sighted at 200 yards. The range master said I couldn't hit the target again. I did. He went down the line bragging for me. I shot a federal self rifling slug. That's it. This is my shotgun, there are many like it, this is mine.
It's like an 11-shot DA revolver in 9mm. Not a bad concept and safe to carry.
