Sometimes I’m in the garage, and sometimes I’m not. Who knows what I’ll find interesting at any particular time, but when I find it, I’ll share it!

Just disconnect the fuel hose and blow into it with some compressed air and it stops
I have Tohatsu 3.5 - never had slightest problem ...and I would be driving it ( trolling all day ) ....
I had a 3.5 mercury, which is the same as that just different decals, cowling and carb. Nothing but problems ever since new. But we fixed it, turns out these 3.5’s always have problems
This 3.5 has gotten better with the new carb setup, but it was pretty terrible when it was new. My buddy bought a 2 hp Yamaha at the same time I bought the 3.5, he’s had none of the same problems with his.
just spent like 2 hours installing those clips in my 65, and cut my thumb about 20 times because the clip kept slipping off. I was probably doing something wrong but those clips were way to hard to get in.
I’ve struggled with them before too. What a pain they can be!
Is there a chance a sir clip flew in my bottom end lost one of them
Where did u buy the float needle
online from Moose racing. it came with the carb kit.
Don't forget to check the float height!
Where are graphics from?
I just enjoy the look on my wife’s face when I pull into the driveway with a 12,000 lb rusty old Bullard machine. It’s priceless. I just drag it off the trailer and start looking for the next treasure.
Sherline guy here. Mill is CNC. I use Fusion 360 for solid modeling and post processing. There is little in the way of limitations on the use of small machines, other than physical size of raw blanks. Have all the necessary tools for machining and measuring, but usually spend more time on setup than cutting metal. I get the most enjoyment out of seeing finished parts on my bench, machined to within .001” where it matters, with good surface finishes, and then assembling them into mechanisms if that’s the end use. People who are not machinists themselves can’t appreciate the skills and effort involved in working at the level of small to tiny, but they do recognize when something small is well made, and it’s fun to hear them ask, “How in the heck did you make that?”
Upgraded or new carb?
It was a new carb.
@@SometimesGarage Is this carb from 5HP Tohatsu ? It looks much bigger ....
Can you replace the leaf spring system entirely?
Nice job Brett farve
I had no clue rings had markings.. but also never had issues
I enjoy making big pieces of scrap into smaller pieces of scrap.
Just a couple days 😂 Helper showing true pyromaniac tendencies. Cuidado ⚠️⚠️⚠️☣️☢️☣️
You gotta be east coast I’m from Boston ma and it’s just constant rain
Up here in central Maine, rained almost every day since mid June!
@@SometimesGarage same here
😂
And he thought he was going to go fishing today. 😂
The harbor was too busy for that!!
Put the open side of circles down so down force keeps the circlip tight when engine is revving. Assemble piston rings and cylinder dry and rings will seal instantly and engine will have more compression over its life time.
what no always lube the rings when instaling
Wait, what? Lets see that retaining clip trick again
I'll see if I can find another piston laying around, I'll make another video on it!
YESSSSS!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤ need me a lift like that.
It’s a game changer!
Gotta get you a drone 😂
I forgot it at home😂. Also I don’t think you’re allowed to fly them in Acadia National Park.
@@SometimesGarage potato 🥔 potato 🥔 spud!
What size nut is that for the rear lower strut bolt? I need one lol?
Ride it. You won’t 😂
I did already, the film crew was absent!
@@SometimesGarage weak
Question are them hoses supposed to just hang down ,just asking for my self plz and thank you
You can't file it. It will not have the right clearances.
It's is not a long term fix, but would get you through a race or two while you are waiting for the new basket to arrive. Thanks for watching!
I wanted to see the ride 🎉
Had a little snafu. Carb is leaking profusely. Ordered a carb kit.
Click 😂
“YEET!”
Torque it. “CLECK!” 😂
Helps me! Though, I’ll probably never do it 😂
Only two washers? I've seen other videos that use (from top to bottom), nut, wahser, bushing, truck frame, washer, bushing, washer.
This is what the kit came with and what the instructions showed. It doesn’t seem like a good idea to me to have a metal washer on top of the lower bushing, but every manufacturer is different I guess
@@SometimesGarage I see, I just installed mine yesterday. The kit also had two washers but the original shock had three, I wasn't sure so I reused the existing washers. And you're right, the middle washer, the one against the frame makes no sense.
😂 who’s the camera man? The kid? Wife? BRO?! 😮
Wifey took the camera on this one. And made fun of me the whole time!
Show. Me. MORRRRRREEEEE🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I need the intake off that
I want to see more of this project. I’m letting you know in the comments.
Show me more right now.
Question what the#Maine for?
that's where I live
@@SometimesGarage Me to Kennebec?
Please send some rain to NE Baltimore,no measurable rain in 4 weeks.
When you said, "we tie one on?" I heard "We Taiwan on."
Very beautiful rain and pizza
someone gave me a mower and i thought i was soo lucky. i know how to fix them and thought i just saved $300. well. bought a new filter box for it. cleaned the carb. turns out it was locked up. pulled the plug managed to free it up. but than it got stuck again. upon further inspection the ENTIRE engine is dislodged from the base and the shaft was bent. she toast! well.. anybody need a refurbished honda carb?
Blow the dam up
Or, you do what I and many other small engine mechanics do and that's straiten the crank. Don't believe me? Search "mower crankshaft straightener". Cheers! Zip~
Thanks for the tip!!
What wrench did you use to tighten the top?
That’s a ratcheting wrench I bought off the snap on truck years ago.
@@SometimesGarage Nice. I think I'll get on of them. 👍
@@ghtyhgyuu they say boerm on the side, I bought some on eBay as well. Cheaper than snap on.
Did you lift it too?
It was already lifted. I used an old man emu kit to lift it years ago. Only thing left of it is the rear leaf setup
Air hammer and a drift pin bit will get those pins out every time; never had to replace a caliper due to stuck pins on one of those fixed calipers.
after 10-15 salty Maine winters, I've had to cut them out on my older Toyotas, but the calipers had more than one seized piston so it didn't matter.
Lmao 😂
You love doing what you do and you enjoying it at the same time😊❤
Is it just me, or does dude kinda look like James Hetfield
Hetfield written all over his face 😂
