Peoria City Court 10100 N 83rd Ave, Peoria, AZ 85345 July 31, 2024 Subject: Request for Dismissal or Reduction of Traffic Citation No. 07210000276266 To the Honorable Judge, I am writing to formally request the dismissal or reduction of the traffic citation I received on July 27, 2024, for failing to stop at a stop sign located at 130000 W/Lone Mountain Rd-Vistancia, Peoria, AZ. My name is Liang Chen, and I am the driver involved in this incident. Case Details: • Citation Number: 07210000276266 • Date and Time of Incident: July 27, 2024, at 7:04 AM • Location: 130000 W/Lone Mountain Rd-Vistancia, Peoria, AZ Explanation: Due to the severe windstorm and dust storm in July 2024, tree branches fell and obstructed the view of the stop sign at the intersection where the incident occurred. This obstruction prevented me from seeing the stop sign clearly, causing me to not come to a complete stop. I ensured that there were no other vehicles at the intersection and proceeded slowly and cautiously. The police officer on the scene must have been aware of these circumstances, including the typically low traffic at the intersection, the unclear stop sign, and my slow and cautious approach. Nonetheless, the officer issued the citation, which I believe to be overly strict, akin to a “gotcha” enforcement. Despite this, I appreciate the opportunity this incident has provided to learn more about traffic laws, and I am grateful for the police officer’s role in this educational experience. I believe in the compassion and fairness of the court, and I am proud of the empathetic and inclusive nature of American law, which is one of the reasons I chose to leave my home country and integrate into the United States. I have always been a cautious driver and have never violated any traffic regulations before. I take pride in my clean driving record. Request: In light of these mitigating circumstances and the evidence provided, I respectfully request the court to consider dismissing or reducing the citation. If dismissal is not possible, I ask for leniency in the form of a reduced fine or the option to attend an additional traffic school. I have always maintained a clean record, and I hope to keep it clean, take pride in it, and continue to uphold this correct attitude. Thank you for your time and understanding. As for amendment five… A lot can happen between a primary election and a an actual election. If you are making it easier for people to get elected in these situations, then you have to make it easier to get rid of them by the people.
