Wade Ward's Die in a Field of Battle (banjo)
I was spending way too much time with Kyle when he put this out. A fair amount of it is from Charlie Faurot's original outtakes recorded for the 1st Clawhammer lp. Kyle had Paul and Verlen come by and add the guitar and mandolin. I don't remember when all this happened but I'm pretty sure it was a few years after 1973.
Thanks, Tom! I’ll try to find the correct release year. Does the rest seem accurate?
Me gusta .esta mucica . saludos.
this is great
I'd love to find a copy of that record for my collection!
Mike Seeger to Kinney's left, I believe.
Thank you so much for sharing this. The late and great Dave Freeman on mandolin behind Doug.
Thanks so much, Corbin!
Wow! What a great album
I love the mix of styles and multiple banjos!
@@andrewwalker4087 Me too! I love that John Hardy.
Much obliged.
This is quite something! 😎
Beautiful! Are you in double C here?
Thanks! I think of this tune as being in double D, I might have had the banjo tuned closer to double C when I took this video.
Hey Andrew, would you consider changing the status on this to be public?
Sure. I hadn't done so previously because I don't own this 78 and didn't make the transfer myself, I just had the file on my computer from somewhere. But if it's useful, I'll make it public!
@@andrewwalker4087Thank you! I suspect it is likely in public domain after literally 100 years. I have this in my archive too, but its great to share Harris's excellence. Hopefully Harris's Prisoner's Song, Blackberry Rag / Knoxville Blues / Chattanooga / Jeff Davis, and Cumberland Gap will be released by MTSU soon.
@@seanDF5 Whoa. I'd like to hear those!
@@lastfirstfaceThey're up on Rob F.'s soundcloud but they're copies of PA system playing it. Still good thou.
@@seanDF5 Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this. I was lucky enough to snag it on vinyl many years ago but I'm always glad when the other Camp Creek Boys albums make it into people's ears. Most people know the one on County (for good reason) but they did three others that are so good and not as many people know!
Thank you for commenting and for being so kind! I agree and hope that more folks can hear the lesser known records by the Camp Creek Boys that you mention. Please let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to change or if you ever prefer that I take this down. By the way, I copied the credits from the liner notes on the back of the LP, but I’ve also seen your grandfather’s name spelled “Verlen.” Did he prefer that spelling?
@@andrewwalker4087 Yeah, he actually spelled his name "Verlen." It is not uncommon for it to be spelled "Verlin" in liner notes and things from back in the day, so I usually don't think anything of it. But he did spell it "Verlen."
@@wesleyclifton7828 Thanks! I've changed it in the video description.
Any kin to Ronnie Clifton?
Just in time…
This is so good. Thank you!
you're welcome! glad you like it
Aaaa I've been looking for something like this for ages! Thank you!

Great music!
Uncle Norm is one of my favorite fiddlers. Thanks for the upload. I'm glad you uploaded the Davis Unlimited 33002 version of this album, with the correct speed, and extra two tracks.
Well, dang I've been listening to this minimum 1 time per day since you uploaded. Thanks again lol
You're welcome! So glad you're enjoying it. I sure love this record too.@@seanDF5
Nice upload! Thanks
Thanks Andrew, Great to have this album on youtube!
