I may be looking into it too much, but the fencing scene between A, B, and C really shows how Colin and Benedict’s relationship with Anthony differs, although they’re all brothers. From what I understand, when the scene begins we see A and C fencing, where C ends up losing to A. But what I personally noticed is when A and C were sparring we can see how C is overwhelmed by A’s aggression and ‘power’, you can interpret this as a physical portrayal of their personalities. We know Anthony to be rational, decisive, and blunt, whereas so far, (I am writing this is before the release of s3) Colin is much more gentle and emotion driven. So when these two personalities ‘fight’ each other, the prior personality tends to win. In a way it’s a very obvious older brother younger brother dynamic, as C tries to help A in this scene but doesn’t fully grasp A’s tendencies so A almost immediately shuts his advice down. Colin can also be deemed to be slightly immature, mostly in s1 that is (at least in A’s perspective), when C suddenly asks for Marina’s hand in marriage, and he and A have that argument in A’s office. - But that doesn’t mean Anthony doesn’t love, care, and trust Colin and vice versa, because they do (e.g when A and B are talking in A’s study before the s1 duel, and A ushers C into the study as well, after seeing him). They have a fun brotherly bond I hope to see more in the upcoming season😊 Meanwhile when Benedict comes to face Anthony we see him win A twice. I like to believe it’s because B can handle A’s signature aggression and even make a joke out of it as B is so used to A that he can handle his very forward character. If B were to get serious, who knows, he could beat A entirely, but because B’s easy going, witty, funny, yet a very intuitive character, he doesn’t, because he understands this match is just an outlet for A’s frustrations, and ultimately that isn’t who B is. Maybe it’s due to Benedict being the second born son, but it’s obvious in this scene, s1, pretty much all of A and B’s scenes, that Anthony relies on Benedict a lot. - We see that Benedict doesn’t advise Anthony much because he knows Anthony won’t be influenced, instead he jokes, quietly spares with him, waits for him to be on guard, and every so often outwardly states how Anthony feels without A having to tell him, e.g. 2:29. Benedict is probably the only person other than Kate whom can talk to Anthony so bluntly where Anthony listens to them without being offended. I’m very excited for Benedict’s season after breaking this down because I figured out that in a way, Benedict’s natural and unconditional love for his family makes him a chameleon. In the sense that his character adjusts depending on which Bridgerton siblings he interacts with. With A he is very teasing but becomes more serious when he realises Anthony needs his help/comfort (e.g when A asks for his help with poetry for Edwina), with C he’s very playful and boyish (e.g when Eloise asks how a lady becomes pregnant in s1), and with D and F, as B hasn’t had any scenes on his own with them, I assume it’s similar to how he acts with E, a funny but caring and gentle older brother that you can talk to when you need it (e.g the iconic swing scene between B and E), and finally, the babies G and H, he’s a more authoritative, but still much gentler than A, adult figure who helps educate and look out for them (e.g where Colin walks in on them and Violet during breakfast after his sudden proposal to Marina in s1 where B tries to stop G and H from arguing). Benedict is more than what we’ve seen so far, so if his season doesn’t come out like a month of Polin’s IMMA CRY😭 (To those who were interested in my analysis and actually read all of it, thank you! The Eng Lit student in me awoke😂)

Hated him in the books& didn’t like the story with Sophie at all, but he’s my favourite bridgerton sibling in the show. I hope they’ll rewrite his story because 1. it wouldn’t make much sense with this version of Benedict 2. Cinderella stories are so boring and outdated
