Specifying and Setting Up a Lighting Network
best explanation ever.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the amazing videos on networking. I am excited for part 3 to come out. Would love for you to cover network setting that are confusing for most of us, like the spanning tree and multicast and igmp snoping. Thanks again! Video 1 and 2 are awesome!!
Thanks for the idea!
this is the video to show people to explain lasers
I wish there was a laser repair school
Hi, Could you explain, or better still make a video of, what is the advantage of using Radiator, as compared to say Quickshow's abstract generator with a MIDI controller? I get that it's standalone, and that it can interact with modular gear, but are there any other features that aren't found in the most popular software packages? Thanks for your help :)
Thanks for your question! We are working on another Radiator video this week and we can touch on that
Great video and explanation 👍👏 I just got a china laser which can project custom drawing, text with true type fonts that you can upload and do lots of animations. I just love to play around with this. Lasers are somehow so fascinating... Oh and yes I am careful with the 2w china laser
Gotta try this!
Thanks for dumbing this shit down. Needed it.
Fantastic video and resources, thank you!

Interesting interview, commenting as one of those laser show producers from the '80s era of fragile glass blown, water cooled, 30 amp 3 phase, $15k per 5 watt, ion gas, with custom developed controllers, aka the aloof hippie on the tour, toking hash from the beam through rolled up $ bills. Did you say expensive? Regarding creative collaboration, when a client is paying the price of lasers, client gets what client wants, under the direction of client's LD, right? As relationships develop during tours, so does trust, respect, communication, and collaboration. During one tour, I had to sneak a sine wave into a flat scan during sound check to gain the artist's approval, 1/2 way through the tour. Artist freedom grows with respect. I was simply given the "Go lasers" cue and mostly did whatever I felt was appropriate... on stage productions, but rarely during tightly scripted AV conferences. Every gig and client is unique. JS If laser artistry is what you want, then look no further than Neon Captain's Radiator, sold by X-Laser. Christopher Short knows the true essence of laser art Glad you guys have come around to using stage lasers responsibly, with X-Laser's support. 😎
Thanks for your comment. It's very cool to see how far lasers have come, especially in the last 15 years! And the Squeek team is killing it, while working within NYC laser regulation restraints.
@@Xlaser Yes, modern inexpensive, compact, energy efficient, air cooled diode laser projectors are very cool! They've enabled me to get back in the game @ 72, developing my own personal system, again....using a $40 MIDI controlled MCU, to be revealed on PLF when fully baked. NYC regs have been the worst, no thanks to Blue Oyster Cult's laser tech stated during a radio interview, "I fry thousands of eyes during every show." Took my OSHA license exam during the '80s on the 101st floor of World Trade Center Tower II. Did an off Broadway shock horror musical production of 'Carrie'. But, it was shut down, due to dancers thinking it was cool to interact with 10W scanned beams on stage, against my warnings. BR
I need a setup that won’t break the bank for a guitar project that has a speed adjustment and is sound activated, I need it flow with my music, but I’m not looking for a strobe effect . Scouring the internet for hours lol
Have you looked at LaserCubes by Wicked Lasers? x-laser.com/collections/lasercube-by-wicked-lasers

This is awesome
Any plans to make another audience scanning laser now that the old one was discontinued
Hi, thanks for the question! We can still do audience scanning on a custom basis. Email us at sales@x-laser.com if you have more questions about it.

This man is amazing! Keep grinding, Just saw the ADJ light show. Was beautiful.
Steve is the best!
Surprised y'all didn't mention clear patterned glass sometimes used in making stained glass panels. Comes in about 15 different patterns, very cheap.
The song sounds much better in this video than anywhere else I can find. Everywhere else, it pierces the ears, but here it's nice and soft and rich in bass.
Wow, this looked GREAT!
Excellent tutorial. Thank you for sharing.
Where is part three? Part one and two were very good.
Part three is high on our list, it got pushed to the back burner for a while but we have plans for a lot more videos this year! We appreciate the enthusiasm!
I had tried in trail version of parallel, but it not detected my fb3 software
is it possible to get some more visual links to what is being discussed. I appreciate you are not a big fan of visualisation! Essentially I am imagining a software that frames lasers into the usual personalities you would get with lighting fixtures (all types) as well as providing the usual laser options. Thank you
Thanks for the feedback, especially since we'll be doing more of these interviews this year! To your point about previs software, our profiles are compatible with Capture as well as a few other previs softwares. We also have a free software called XLERATE which has a previs function included. You can check that out here x-laser.com/pages/xlerate
Thank you, I will check it out. @@Xlaser
Thank you for creating this excellent tutorial, Chris.
where's part 3?
I know part 3 is long overdue! It's been pushed back for a number of reasons unfortunately. However, we are in the process of planning videos for the near future, and I will make sure part 3 is on the list!
How do you deal with heat when using high wattage lasers? Won't things like epoxy melt or catch fire if you left it there for more than a few moments?
Great question! There's a couple of "what ifs" involved here, but things like limiting power level and keeping the beam moving help (i.e. not using a static "hot beam" and instead some kind of pattern)
You guys crush and the shows are epic!!!
I call this effect "Splatter-Web " light effect.
Hi Adam can u tell me how my neighbors have faces showing on walls inside my house?
Hi! Do you mean like this? czcams.com/video/mDUVMyR4z9c/video.html You can make faces and animations using the Lasercube, made by Wicked lasers and distributed by X-Laser in the US. The control is simple from Mac, PC, iPhone or Android
The glass tray in a mocrowave?
Could you project old vector games using this method or is it limited to circles? Tempest comes to mind. :)
Great conversation, Guys! I can totally relate to every comment. Glad to hear Chris giving kudos to Glenn Thomas, whose Laserium show at Griffith Park 'disrupted' my life in 1977 so profoundly that I quit my job in the MIC to become one of the 2 laserists to launch Laserium I at the London Planetarium the following year, then become an independent freelancer for the following 10 years. Chris' YT laser videos disrupted my retirement to purchase a pair of cheap RGB projectors, LSX & an APC40. Over the past few years, I've been developing my own MIDI controlled laser synth using a Teensy MCU. Yeah, just like my mentor Swamidog, the T4 Laser Synth is still under wraps until my act's together, it's ready for showtime and ILD file literate. Just completed its (my 1st) PCB design in Kicad. Ain't no big thang and won't ever be as awesome as The Radiator. Nor would I ever dream of being worthy of competing in Da 'Dog's arena. Just enjoying playing with cycloids in my living room during my final years. 😎
We just bought 4 lasers from xlaser, already have 4 at another club, these are 7.5watt, can’t wait to play and excited to hear we can do DMX instead of network, we have problems with DJ’s messing with things, would much rather just give them midi buttons, so much less choices, please take this topic into future videos, ours should be arriving in the next 2 weeks.
What’s the password for Lasercube Wi-Fi?
Hi, the password should be Laser2020 (and can be found in the manual on page 11)
Best & most comprehensive Radiator tutorial I've seen yet, Chris. Very eloquently presented as well. Was wondering how you achieved X/Y-wave CM & blanking. Radiator was the 1st controller I've seen doing it. Love the LCD display. Sure beats my Arduino serial monitor. 🙄 HDMI output and 3D rotations are among my 'I wish' dream list. FWIW to your Radiator customers, my all time favorite DAW is the fully customizable Reaper 6, with hundreds of VST toys, track grouping (submixing), track CC modulation, output master busses (multiple projectors)... Apologies for the 'shameless promotion' (Watch ReaperMania's tutorial) not for self nor am I affiliated w/Reaper; just a huge fan. Radiator is a very impressive 'instrument' ; ) Your artistic skills ain't too shabby neither, 'dog. 😜 Thanks for sharing. 😎
Thanks for your comment! We're stoked to be putting these in people's hands soon.
where do we report venues that have (high power)lasers aiming at the people or mirrors.
Hi, we apologize for the delay. You can report unsafe laser shows at the Contact Us form on our website: x-laser.com/pages/contact-us . Provide any details in the Message field.
So useful, thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
This would be a perfect video without the background "music." Unfortunately, that decision makes this video unwatchable.
Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, as this is one of our best-performing videos, we will do nothing to change it
after connecting these, can i use the mobile phone app instead of a laptop like what you're showing?
Yes, you can control with PC and Mac over Ethernet, or iOS and Android over WiFi
Wait, you can’t do two instances on one computer?
Correct, you can not do two instances on the same computer. In order to have different outputs with different cubes, you will need more than one device running LaserOS
Just got mine yesterday. I did this and the white lights never go solid, they just continue to blink.
Hi, if you're still having issues, please contact our support team via email at support@x-laser.com
@@Xlaser thank you. It wasn't clear that after connecting the safety device to push the green button and wait for the lights to turn solid. Got it working. Thank you! Great product!
Nice video ,thank you for sharing :)
Could lasers be used for toll signs?
Lasers can be used for signs, but you do need to check with local authority to make sure they are being used safely and legally, which can differ depending on which state/country you're in.
Bonne idée. Affaire à suivre. Régor Genève
I saw a Pink Floyd concert in the late '70s. Lasers were just being introduced to rock shows & this was the first time I saw one. Very simple compared with what came after. During one song (don't recall which) three seemingly solid lines of green light were blasted from the stage right across the length of the Pacific Coliseum (Vancouver, Canada). They looked about finger-thick & they were unwavering, almost solid. The next song started & at an appropriately dramatic moment, those three green lines suddenly began to rotate in unison. It actually felt as if the building itself was starting to rotate. The crowd went nuts with the Oohs! & Aahs! Quite the thing. Today, with a lack of tobacco & pot smoke filling the air, those laser beams would not be quite so spectacular. As well, I think everybody at the show had at least a contact high, so the effect was enhanced. I always think of that first time when I see or read something about show lasers.
Can this lase change colors or is it permanently set in the this lay out
The A4C is static, so no you can't change which aperture the colors are coming from.
"...because Adam loves orange" You guys are the best
Mickey!!!! Killin it bro!
