The whole peak week water manipulation section of the podcast is so vague. It's as though the guest doesn't want to give away his secrets? I wish there were more specific example protocols. E.g. water intake was x litres per day for the 1st 3 days of prep and then 0.75x litres 2 days out because of xyz and then just sips of water on show because of xyz. To say it's an art form more than a science and we don't really know the science anyway is so vague.
That’s fair! I think the point he’s getting at is there isn’t a cookie cutter way to approach the water manipulation of a peak week, it’s different for everyone. And it’s probably a red flag if a coach uses the same method for every athlete I agree that tangible examples are helpful though for sure
What %age body fat is target for a natural bodybuilding show? Apologies if it was mentiined but I missed it. If we know target body fat %age, we know target weight. Then we therefore know target weight loss required. Then we know weight loss per day from now until show, so we know daily calorie deficit and thus daily calorie target during the cut.
Really good question! Typically the aim is below 5% at which stage it becomes very difficult to accurately measure. Bodyweight is one useful tool to use as a target but sometimes you might gain muscle during a prep so the number wouldn’t always be precisely correct
Gidos land based fishing right up there with all other yt fishing channels,, possibly even No #1 ,, he's the man 🎣🎣👍
Too right man, agreed! His stuff is easily one of the best on YT 🙌
I've had the pleasure of meeting Ash and seeing him compete here in Hilo, Hawaii for world sprints. A cool bloke and the rest of Team NZ was so awesome and amazing to have seen in person.
That’s epic! Yeah he’s the nicest guy
Good podcast, I enjoyed it.
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it
Great Interview, just a heads up I noticed you mentioned South Australia at the start, actually it's Western Australia (the South West Coast in particular)
Ahh thanks good catch! I’ve just heard Gido mention the south coast a few times so I appreciate you clearing that up 🙌
Great interview., nice casual discussion..I particularly liked the video clips you added showing what Gido was mentioning.
Appreciate the feedback! Glad you enjoyed it 🙌
When one of Gido's videos comes on CZcams it's pretty much down tools and watch.....after I've made a BLT sandwich 🥪.
Not the same without the BLT 😂
Gidos fishing videos deserve so much more viewership. Best fisherman on YT
100% agree man. The stuff he does is crazy haha
yappanomics degree holder here
That sounds fancy 😂
That’s like saying if you ran with a 50 pound vest and took it off you wouldn’t be faster 😭
Haha you’d be faster if you did that for sure. What we’re saying here though is that there’s an intersection between weight loss and performance - more weight loss doesn’t equate to better results
Yeah, but you're asking me to do math, so I'm just going to eat pizza
Hahaha pizza has carbs, fats and protein so that’s perfect
Well a bit late to the party, but finding this podcast about Flo made me just admire him even more! I am a huge fan of his and I recently had the chance to meet him for a bit. Thank you for doing this! I hope his career goes to greater heights and we will all be there to support him. I really enjoyed this podcast its like I learned more about him and his careers that he is very passionate about. Cheers! 🫶
Thanks heaps for sharing your thoughts! He’s such an awesome guy and thinks so deeply about his sport - I’m sure he’ll appreciate your comment! I’ll pass it on 🙌
Love it💗
Thanks for watching! 🙌
It's great to see such a long interview about Flo. The perspective of the interview is also very interseting. I've always admired him as someone who can balance study and sports, and this interview gave me a chance to get to know him better. So appreciate. (from a fan of Germany volleyball NT)🥳
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed the episode 😊
A very informative discussion. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate it
Gosh that was a great interview, one I found both interesting and motivating. Well done.
Thanks so much! Really appreciate you checking it out and sharing your thoughts 😁
One of the most inspirational guys going around. Always someone you can look to for motivation and guidance. Keep it up chef.
Couldn’t agree more man, such a humble guy as well 🙌
Sitting watching this from Whakatane wanting to hear your thoughts given where you are and your first shot of Whale Island! Love New Zealand!
That’s awesome! Can’t beat Whakatane man - I grew up in coastlands so that was my local beach. You know it’s nice but when you leave you get an even deeper appreciation for it
@liftingandlifepodcast just need to turn on the news these days to appreciate being at the bottom of the world..
Haha so true. Can appreciate the vast distance between you and everyone else
Damn man blood sugar levels is something I never even think of, super insightful. I wish I could give my mom all of this advice lol.
Super interesting aye! Haha share this episode with her
Damn this sounds good!
Yeah boy!
Dah-tuh
🙌🙌
Brilliant interview Cameron, Rob is top-level, and to get him on your show is amazing. Really engaging talk, and he knows a lot of stuff. Really interesting when you dived into rep ranges and what is actually happening when you get stronger - fibres vs cell size increase. I would love to know what he thinks of comparing 20 rep sets at a certain weight against 7 to 8 reps of the same weight but with slow negatives, e.g. 4 seconds - so time under tension. Keep them coming :-)
Appreciate that Chris! He's certainly a top tier athlete and coach! Thanks for checking out the episode
This was really interesting. Simon is so humble 😂
Unbelievably humble, just gets on with it 😂 Glad you enjoyed it bro!
Definitely learned a lot from this!
Awesome bro! Glad to hear it! 😁
You go Cam

Nice one pal 😀! Promotion that works - P r o m o S M .
Jeff was a huge part of my journey into fitness. He was always encouraging me and feeding me words of inspiration which always kept me motivated. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be where I am today without that guy.
Man that's awesome! Jeff really is an inspiration. Thanks heaps for the comment Chris - keep up the hard work 🙌
It’s nice to hear a superstar LM instructor say that she was shy in the beginning. I really appreciate that. Loved this, thanks 😊
