Great video. I took a picture of the wiring and where it connects in the heater, but photo did show where double white wire connects. Could you show a photo of the connection for the 2 white wires. Sally

I have found that the water heater cooks the cleaning solution. I have stopped using the heater and no longer have that problem.

I was given one of these with extremely few hours on it but it doesn't spray. Apparently the weak point of these is the heater.

TFS! I bought a proheat at an estate sale that seemed almost brand new but the trigger seems to have disconnected from whatever is supposed to be connected to inside. It will work intermittently but not for very long. Nothing comes out of the hose either. I put a bit of water where the tank sits and it did suck it in. Do you know if it's possible to access the area where the trigger attaches inside? I appreciate your time! Thank you.

I need to take the TOP part of the handle...to replace the trigger because I get constant spray, any pointers? I can't get it apart without feeling like I'm going to break something.... HELP!

After bypassing the heater core and connecting the plastic tubes, what do you do with the electrical connections that were attached to the heater core? Do we insulate these to prevent shorting out?

okay... Here's my experience.. i had this same no water spraying problem a few years back and I diagnosed it the heater core, but instead of cleaning it, I just replaced the heater core.. cost for a new one was about $20, i think.. this past week i had the same symptoms, no spray so i figured I try to clean out the core per this video before buying a replacement. after disassembly, I opened up the core there was a lot of soap residue buildup in there, but not enough to clog it. I cleaned all the passages out with Q-tips and put it back together, reconnected the electrical connections, but decided to test it before closing the cover up. Being careful not to touch the electrical terminals and making sure there were no shorts, I turned it on and manually operated the flow valve... i could see the fluid moving in the tube up to the valve, but wouldn't pass it.. So, i thought maybe the valve was clogged.. I disconnected tubing from both ends of the valve, and blew through it with it open and it was clear, so I reconnected the valve. Then I traced the tubing from the valve back to the tank. It runs into the fan belt compartment, and then inside the underside of casing, up to the tank seat valve pin. I wanted to check to make sure water was flowing out of the tank, so i manually cycled the valve on the bottom of the tank by pushing up on from the bottom with my finger (recommend holding the tank over the since when doing this..) After confirming that the tank was clear, i thought maybe the tubing was gummed up, clogged or kinked inside the case. So, I opened up the fan belt compartment, and I gently pulled and squeezed on the tubing from inside to make sure the fluid was moving around inside the tube. I could see the fluid moving in the tube. After doing the above, I turned the power back on, and activated the flow valve up top and water started flowing. I put it all back together and its working now.. I'm not sure what exactly fixed it flow problem, I'm betting the tube was either partially blocked or kinked, and squeezing it dislodged it. Either way, I definitely recommend you flow clean water through the system every once in a while, especially if you don't use it that often. The soap does solidify and will buildup in the lines...

Brilliant. When Bissell told me that there were no spares available for model 7901-J I almost gave up, but thanks to your video and another couple on CZcams, I have got it working. I spent a lot of time looking at the pump end of the Bissell but then realised that if the accessory hose is pumping the problem must lie at the handle end - either the fluid switch or a blocked heater. My problem was the heater. Thank you scottswimz. Thank you CZcams!

Great video, but how did you get your hoses off? In addition to the corroded heater core issue, one of the hoses into the heater core is completely clogged and I can't remove it. The connector that the tube is on is plastic, so I don't want to risk breaking it off. Any ideas?

Youre fortunate I checked mine and it wasnt bad at all but when I went to put it together and trun it on it leaked and everything was there and seated properly. So im guessing the rectangle gasket is bad because it leaks from the sides. I try seating it a few times it just keeps leaking in different spots new gaskets or by pass here I come.

I can't open the top part after taking out the screws. It looks easy for everyone else. It feels like something is holding it down. Can someone please tell me what could be the problem? My model # is 7901-T about 5 or 5 years old.

We decided to remove the heater coil and made an error in reassembling the cleaner so that the tubing goes up to the trigger in the handle. Is there anyway to purchase tubing and a connector for each end so this can be used again. As it is right now, it sprays constantly while sucking up the water. I took it to a vacuum place and they wanted over $100 to fix it. We know what the problem is, missing tube to the trigger. We would appreciate any ideas on how we can salvage this cleaner. Thanks

Great video - helped me as my heater core was completely plugged. In addition, the outlet tube going to the fluid movement indicator was also completely plugged Required removal of the top, but only 6 screws and the cap from the fluid indicator and it came off.

Preventative maintenance is the key to longevity, empty tanks when done using, run some clean water thru the system to wash out the cleaning solution, keep spraying so that the pump can empty out all of the solution hoses. If you have hard water use some washing soda in the water. (Hard water contains calcium and magnesium ions. The carbonate ions from washing soda produce a chemical reaction and removes the calcium and magnesium from the water).

Thanks so much for this video! If the water will spray from the tool attachment, but not from the main floor unit, could this still indicate deposit build-up in the heater core or would it be somewhere else?

Took all the screws out and just can not get the front piece off that covers the heater. Think I might just have to throw the whole thing out. What a waste of money.

Great video. Ours is about 10 years old and has never seen any maintenance aside from post-use cleanings. It finally threw a belt just a couple nights ago, so I figured may as well give it a complete once-over while I'm tearing into it. Can't wait to see what funkiness awaits me....

one year later and your video is still serving the people well. thanks for posting it. i tried a couple of other simpler suggestion but none worked. this one worked great. i found that the hose nipple on the heater box was really clogged up with this hard white pasty stuff. i had to use a drill bit to clean it out. 1/16th than 1/8th. also the tubing had some gooey sticky substance in it. i squirted a little degreaser goop inside the hose and flushed out the gunk. it looked like greasy soapy sticky stuff. thanks again

i got a replacement heater core for 25 bucks 75 something for a brand new one
