Glass jar candle holders
Neat windproof candle holders using olives or jam glass jars cut with a dremel and diamond discs. It can hold regular candle sticks glueing a piece of metal tube in the lid. This is a way to reuse those glass jars that would otherwise go in the trash.

mini burner
zhlédnutí 3,2KPřed měsícem
Turn on the subtitles for more information. This is a version of one of my alcohol burners but much smaller and easier to make. I used a piece of copper capillary tube, a small drop candy can, cotton wick and tin solder wire.
Sawdust stove
zhlédnutí 2,1KPřed 2 měsíci
Simple sawdust stove using a large can, metal mesh and steel wire supports. I used coarse sawdust (flakes), I don't think this will work with powder sawdust. The flame is not that hot, it boils 1 liter of water in around 15 minutes. Needs alcohol or some flammable liquid to start the fire. I like the idea of using sawdust as fuel because it's something that always goes to waste.
Water-cooled stirling engine

Turn on subtitles for more information. So... this is a water-cooled external combustion engine made with spray paint cans, steel and aluminum wires, copper tubes, high-temperature silicone sealing, screws, etc. It's an evolution of my last engine, but it's not perfect. There are things to improve in the next project: - the power piston is still made of rubber, which sucks; - the displacer pist...
Disposable lighter no more
zhlédnutí 1,6KPřed 5 měsíci
Playing with a common EMPTY disposable lighter. The fuel has run out but there is still ferrocerium for hundreds of sparks. I filled it with alcohol (5ml) and added a wick, it works relatively well and it's refillable. Of course, it's not perfect. The flame can only be lit for a few seconds to avoid overheating the plastic. But it's open to improvements and I'll still revisit this project. Need...
Homemade portable wood stove
zhlédnutí 4,9KPřed 9 měsíci
Turn on the subtitles for more information. This is a wood stove made with a freon gas cylinder, a piece of sheet steel and some more steel junk. Works even better than I expected, however I would change a few things: - a simple lock for the door; - i think the chimney can be narrower (2"); - triangular feet for more resistance to weight; - the perforated base plate with larger holes. This stov...
zinc from batteries
zhlédnutí 3,7KPřed 10 měsíci
Extracting zinc from ordinary batteries. Batteries must be ordinary zinc-carbon batteries. Zinc is useful for: - electrodes; - galvanic anodes; - zinc-sulfur powder; - mix with copper to make brass. 2:52 melting zinc can release fumes that aren't exactly healthy, that's what the mask is for. The zinc melting point is low, so iI made a I made a small bar with approximately 20 batteries. Of cours...
Magnetic spinning top
zhlédnutí 2,1KPřed 11 měsíci
This is a simple toy similar to one i had when i was a kid. I couldn't find any for sale out there so I made a similar one. It's a spinning top with a slightly magnetized shaft that, when spinned, drags a snake-shaped piece of tin foil back and forth. I used: - a nail or rivet core; - a 1ml syringe - a cap from a bottle or flask; - a small magnet (neocube spheres works fine); - piece of tin to ...
Solar lantern
zhlédnutí 2,2KPřed rokem
This is a small electronic project for a flashlight that runs on solar energy by charging a battery. - the capacitors are decoupling capacitors, they are used in parallel with voltage regulators almost always; - the schottky diodes prevent current from returning to the solar panel. I chose schottky because it has a low resistance and most similar circuits use it too. The ones I used are oversiz...

Deodorant can stove
zhlédnutí 19KPřed rokem
Turn on the subtitles for more informations. This is a simple, small alcohol stove using a deodorant can. Pros: - uses only one deodorant can; - stronger than a soda can stove (deodorant can have much thicker walls); - easy to make; - no glue or silicone or any kind of sealing. Cons: - flame a bit unstable; - needs a stable and rigid base to support; - less efficient than rift or capilarity sto...
anti-spill alcohol stove
zhlédnutí 11KPřed rokem
Turn on the subtitles for more informations. This is a small simple alcohol stove made made with glass wool, candy can and metal mesh. It's not the most efficient stove, but it's arguably the safest, as the glass wool absorbs alcohol and reduces the risk of spillage.

Copper coil burner

Turn on the subtitles for more informations. This is a alcohol burner I made using copper tube, cotton string and tin cans. Works very well as a burner and kinda well as stove. 🔥🔥🔥 be careful when handling alcohol and fire 🔥🔥🔥

Wow! Maybe a good camping stove?
Funciona con la tapa de la lata abierta o tiene que estar cerrada? Mejora su rendimiento si la tapa tiene un sello estanco de goma? Gracias!
