Kuttawa Cannonball Run 2023

Once again we are in Kuttawa for the Kuttawa Cannonball Run. One of our favorite places to visit and an excellent weekend running on 2 different lakes. Hu B's is such a well run and well kept marina and restaurant. We took our RV and our boat down to spend some time on the water with all our poker run friends.

If it wasn't for bad luck we'd have no luck at all! Parrot Head's engine has been rebuilt. After a few setbacks, we have gotten the kinks worked out of the starboard engine rebuild and she is alive. When installing the engines with the drives already on, the spline shaft going from the drive into the transmission won’t slide in very easily and seems to be blocked by the shaft bc it isn’t perfectly straight due to the u-joint. Any tips or should the drives come off and the engines be placed first, like you did, then put the drives on? Thanks the drives we have are SSM 5.
I've never had to do a set of engines with #5s, but removing them first is the easiest. The engine is the bulkiest part of the equation, and you want to get it set and lined up.

Poker Runs are great, surprized none of the people on the boats were not wearing any PFD. One of the largest Poker Runs in America is in Boyne City, Mi, Everyone is required to wear a PFD & no alcohol until after thr run.

OK, we’ve boated a few times near Magnet, Indiana, which is right across from Meade county Kentucky. The river is really deep in that area. Way deeper than any other place I’ve seen on the Ohio. Thanks for the reply and have a great day!!

looks like the boat and everything need a washing kinda sucks that you take a boat trip and it get so slimy and dirty on some of the rivers and waterways you get back from a nice trip and have to clean everything twice and getting it looking great before the next trip. ive been told i have a full time job..... washing the boat and truck. well when shane get yours all cleaned up she is more then welcome to help me do mine looks like she does a really great job ty for the nice vid... where did u launch and what part of the river where you running around on?

Hey man just had a quick question. If I wanted to own/operate and maintain a boat just like yours with around the same hours, how much money would you recommend that someone would have to make a year to be able to comfortably afford the payment, major or minor repairs and maintenance, fuel, insurance, slip fees and winter storage? I own a small 3 bedroom home, not married, no kids and my monthly bills are around $2,300 a month now and I currently make $80k a year at my job. I'm guessing I would need to make at least $120k a year before I even think about getting into a plus 32' go fast and not be strapped for cash. Could you please respond to that question?
Well, it really depends on how much the boat costs you. It's getting hard to get loans on boats older than 20 years. You can still finance them, but you may have to put more down or finance on shorter terms. Insurance will cost you on average $200 a month, give or take. Most all the boat we've had average 1mpg, that should give you an idea on fuel usage. Regular maintenance is basically oil changes on 2 engines once a year, raw waterpumps every other year or so, and in our case maintenance on a trailer. We're not anywhere near a lake or marina to keep it in a slip. And we enjoy not being tied down to one body of water. Our boat stays at our house all year so.we don't have to pay for winter storage and I do all the maintenance and work on it.
@@BarrowedTime I would be interested in getting a 32' twin engine go fast for around the $75k mark. For something like that, do you think making around $120k a year would be a good benchmark to be able to afford it and run it once or twice a week? I would prob only drive around 50miles per week with it.
@richr909 I would think so. Always try to buy the biggest boat you can afford, haul, and store. That way you're not losing money trying to upgrade all the time for 1 or 2 feet extra.

Been there. Drug the boat 5 hours to lake Texoma for the Texoma throwdown. Had the boat in the water foe about 2 hours of run time and the starboard drive wouldn't go into gear. Luckily I was able to get on another boat for the poker run.
Its not about the fastest boat like you said it"s about having a good time! And also your wife is a free spirit!! She really loves to enjoy the boat wish my wife would have enjoyed my 27 Activator with a blower motor.
I’m 53 been operating boats pretty much my whole life and never bumped anything. Although I’ve had several encounters with Captains that can’t handle their vessel rub me. I remember one in particular I had just loaded my boat shutdown engine and was lifting motor up when I was hit in my side by a pontoon. Go figure why was this guy allowed to captain a boat why?
Don't know if you've seen any of our other videos, but we didn't hit anyone with the boat. Boat came off trailer when someone pulled in front of us on our way home from a poker run. Boat came off trailer and hit truck, landing in the ditch. Wrecker service bent rails lifting Boat back up on trailer.
