    Lebron James sat out many games during the seasons you’re talking about that’s why he has so few seasons under 60 wins, also the 12-13 Heat won 27 games in a row they are a top 5 team ever and many think better than 13-14 Spurs. They beat that same team season before. Funny though you named 3-4 great teams in Brons era left out celtics but what great teams did Mj have to face? None unless you count the bad boys he is 1-3 against

    I can agree and that's the argument that makes him the goat. He had great success despite not having a coach and a system. That's not a issue of play style but lack of having a good organization behind you. Like starting a business, you can plan but you still need great timing and some luck.

    When it was announced that Jordan is back, Kerr and Jude Buschler had a conversation about whether Phil Jackson would make him a starter or not, and the conventional wisdom is that it's impossible for a player to suddenly become a top-tier player after nearly two years away from the game. At the time, the Chicago front office recommended that Jordan return in the start of 95-96 season due to his body not being a basketball player's body and the long layoff, but with a playoff berth in doubt at the time, Jordan opted to return right away, and returned at the end of the 9495 season. In the 17 games Jordan played after his return, Chicago went 13-4 and clinched a playoff. While he often looked like his prime in the regular season and playoffs, the problem was the ups and downs of his play. Jordan committed several mistakes that weren't very Jordanian and this was ultimately the main reason for the series loss to Orlando. Also, with the exception of Pippen and Armstrong, almost all of the players were changed from they were in the 1st 3peat, so there wasn't enough time to build optimized team around Jordan. Pippen's playoff struggles have been a virtual constant, so I don't want to point fingers at him as the cause of the loss - Chicago was a team that needed Jordan to play ridiculously well to win championship anyway. That's why the #1 and #2 all-time championship teams that won with the least amount of scoring supporting cast from their teammates are 98 Chicago and 97 Chicago. The bottom line is that Jordan's '95 second-round loss was actually a series in which he did better than expected, as this video shows. He just didn't have enough time to regain his body, his technical confidence, and his bond with his teammates. IMO even if Rodman had been in Chicago in '95, Bulls would have had hard time vs Orlando in '95 if Jordan hadn't regained his form into the Jordan we know. After that season, Jordan once said he realized that his body was not optimized for basketball due to his baseball days, and that his physical abilities, such as speed and quickness, vertical had diminished from his prime, so he knew he had to change his style of play. So, starting in the 95-96 season, his post-up play became more of a focus and we got the Jordan we know from the 2nd 3-peat era. Note that Jordan's body would not be optimized for basketball again until the 96-97 season. In fact, the Bulls were actually better than they were in 95-96 at the starting of the season, and probably would have broken 72 wins if it weren't for injuries to teammates in the mid season.

    Michael gave the City of Chicago something it's never had before or since: bragging rights for the best team in NBA history (96' Bulls) a near-guaranteed Championship every full season paired with an all-star/healthy Scottie Pippen, the Best basketball player/teams sport athlete of all-time! I grew up in Chicago and I remember the pre-MJ Bulls, nobody paid them any attention! Michael Jordan's contributions to sports in Chicago were so incredible from 85' thru 98', I can't see knocking anything he's done!

    I’d say this is the one series where you could blame Jordan for the bulls losing his entire career. Game 1 and 4 were on Jordan but the other two losses were more on Pippen and Kukoc who added nothing scoring less than 10 pts. I mean if Jordan’s worst series is him going 31 ppg 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game that’s not bad at all. He’s never had a meltdown like Lebron in 2011.

    • @MrKurtykurt
      @MrKurtykurt Před 21 hodinou

      And who gets all the blame? MJ. And rightfully so…that’s not how it works for Lebron. 2011 and is the only series LeBron actually gets blame bc it’s impossible, at least without looking like an idiot, to argue he shouldn’t. What about 2008 when he avg 19ppg on 26% and 6 T/O in the first FOUR games of that series vs Boston and the Cavs STILL won 2 of those games. Which just goes to show how much better that Cavs supporting cast was than ppl care to remember

      Lebron costs his team in turnovers. Lebron GOAT of turnovers most in NBA history. Most points kind doesn't mean much if you have most turnovers as well. You cost your team a 6 point possible swing when you turn the ball over. Take possible 3 off of the score board for you and give the other team possible 3 points instead.

    I count this against MJ. But everything has context. The man hadn't played meaningful basketball in 1 1/2 years. His supporting cast was subpar. And they were a few points away in every game from being the 4-2 WINNER. In my mind, defeats help build the legacy to overcome adversity. That's what made MJ(and most of the greats) so GOATISH. He didn't cheat his way to a title. Nobody said that KG, Ray and PP would 3peat. The Heatles said not 1, not 2, not 5... no adversity in any of that. That's why going 4-6 looks worse than West going 1-8. Broke down further, West went 22-33. LeBron went 22-33. However, West's teams were NEVER swept. LeBron's supporting teammates were way better than West's. West never laid an egg. MJ never laid an egg in the playoffs. LeBron has.

    No, these criticisms are misplaced. Fact is, no matter how great the player, if **80%** (four of the five) are not contributing at a high enough level, that one great player cannot get it done. Jordan lost the majority of his 60 point games. Wilt lost all but one of his 70 point games. What more were they supposed to do to win those games? The fact that they HAD to score so much to try to win those games reflects a weak team other than them. The common headline in Jordan's early years was 'Bulls lose despite Jordan's 37 points.' He couldn't get his teams to even .500 (his first three years) until he got better teammates. A team sport requires a good enough TEAM. Generally in the NBA, that meant two all-star level players and another player who was just below that level who could get you 20+ points fairly regularly.
