I am using this channel to share a couple of what I think are historic moments which I was fortunate enough to be present at with a video camera in my hands.
How lucky was I to be at the 4th Doodah Parade back in 1980 in Pasadena, CA and have a video camera? The quality is sub standard but the video tape has survived 40+ years.
43 years later, in 2003, I was on tour (not a musician but tour support)with Ray Manzarek & Robby Krieger of The Doors. When we arrived in Paris there was a planned visit to Jim Morrison's Grave in Pere Lachaise Cemetery.

The video quality isn't the greatest but it is what it is. I went to a few Doodah parades when I lives in southern California.

A 1 hour ride around the towns that I grew up in, Lynn, Swampscott, Peabody, Salem and Marblehead, and hung out in back in the 50's & 60's. This video was shot sometime around 2002-2003, I think.

December 8, 2003 - As the crew heads straight to the hotel for a little rest and then on to La Scene to get ready for this evenings secret show at this small 300 person capacity club. The band was taken directly to the Pere Lachaise Cemetery where Ray, Robby & Ian were greeted by fans and press photographers. Ray & Robby at first were not going to sign any autographs when they got off the bus, ...

On December 10, 2003 The Doors of the 21st Century took the chunnel train across the English Channel from France to England. Enjoy the ride
Camera guy seemed to have lost control of his zoom button on the grave stone

Whos the third person with the shades
In the mid 80ies i visited Friends in Paris. Back then i worked a lot in Photography, and… Of course i planed to go to Pere Lachaise. But knowing about Masses of Fans i got up at 6 a.m…. hoping to have a silent moment at Jim‘s Grave. A lucky thing… it was raining like hell, and was foggy on the whole Graveyard. Believe it or not; They opened at 8:00 a.m. and… i was the only one (except lots of cats!). Another lucky fact: By THAT time, Jim‘s bust was still THERE… not stolen yet. So i could shoot (imho) the best „Musician Portrait“ of my Life. The Fog was sooo dense, that you could barly see the Head… with just one sad dead ROSE beside Jim‘s Head. I don‘t know if it is allowed… here the link to the photo: mega.nz/file/9g5jxLyI#j5__-s0ievLRs-drjfzaSF2-B5w6Gmk1jnFjf7BKmOA
Who is the lookalike?
A different era, everyone is so happy, and fit.
Who was the third person alongside Ray and Robbie? What a great couple of guys, there to pay respects to a longtime friend and to be bombarded with fans. Neither one complained and spent the time signing autographs.
So sad that they can't go visit the grave without been mobbed And look now is 2024 and after 53 years people still visit his grave and He was so charismatic that people forgetting that He wasnt himself ,there was a band The Doors And imagine he would be 80 years old now like Mick Jagger or Rod Steward
two eejits
It sucks they were mobbed like that. I went to see Jim’s grave a few weeks ago and it was quiet and peaceful. I was alone for a while and then A few tourists came trickling in.
Ray, such a dignified gentleman
Annoying people wanting them to sign these things so they can later sell act like fans but their real goal is to make money.
this is hard to watch. I saw the Doors at Seattle Pop Festival along with Led Zeppelin. Hendrix came to Seattle many times, too. Those were the days my friends. this is sad. Time goes by.
I think Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger gave Jim Morrison Stability and Energie,But Jim was to different,R.I.P
Made me think and realize that I don’t remember where they buried Pamela..
Ray Manzarek was an incredible artist! I saw him play in a small venue in Switzerland... sitting 1 meter away from him... What he played, and the calm way he made that organ follow his thoughts and plans, was a unique experience. And he achieved what many around him didn't. He stayed down to earth, humble and kind. While I am much to young to have seen Jim... I would be surprised if he would have impressed me more.
The last time I visited Pere LaChaise, Morrison's grave had been fenced off. That would have been December 2014.
To bad the people couldn’t just give them some alone to do what they came for!
Why are they burning stuff?
I like this Visit - Because it shows the highly respect of his longtherm Teamfriends and is completly out of fameness or other glittering - Just a honering of his great genius - Rest in Peace Jim Morrison 🔱
Why they burned the stuff on the grave?
viva jim.
look's aukward
Yeah but…..it’s a cemetery……have some respect…….this is kind of fucked up…..who’s cleaning all that up……probably the caretakers….not cool….
they were way too nice to the French here. awful people
R.I.P jim 🙏😎
Rest in Peace and Bliss Mr. Morrison
Thank Guys! Honor to Jim! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️
Us boomers had the best music. 1967 was a great time! LITE MY FIRE
Open the Doors !! Mister Krieger and Manzarek, in Light Fire in The grave of Morrison.. RIP... Mister Morrison..is Rock and Roll !!!
The feeling was completely different when I visited often his grave from Finland in the 1980's. Spent nights with the anothers around the world. Now it looks to be a one helluva circus.
Gross distugusting people doing anything for a bs autograph. People still do that to Robbie at the Whisky in LA. Just harass the crap out of an 80 year old man who’s tired and wants to go home.
They are handling the crowd with grace. However, if theyre not assertive, the crowd wont ever go away
Thank you Mom so much for introducing me to their music when I was sixteen
While I love Ray, and recognize that he did about 80% of the heavy lifting, songwriting, and press... It forever did and will always disappoint me about him always teasing the 'Jim may still be out there' crap. Felt like a battle to stay relevant.
Good times and bad times. Those were the days. ❤
I wish Ray would of quit smoking early on. In the end, they did him in. Sad. He always talked about Jim's drinking problem yet those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!
Why's Robbie wearing a UVA hat? Did his kid or grandkid go there? Just curious
Why did they start a fire? Lol Light My Fire joke?
Rays talent was out of this world
Beautiful
