Nice, but your math assumes an VHF distance of only 5 miles, Such a poor antenna set up on a boat is lubberly to be kind about it. Routinely I see AIS data coming from over 30 miles away giving more like half an hour of warning.

Thanks for adding these discussions on powerboats. We love using your route planning. One question came up as I watched. Is the draft the hull depth? I was using the true draft including the rudders and props, but to model your boat it makes more sense that it is the hull. Is that right?

I don't like this because anything useful/interesting is disabled unless you buy the $500 EVERY YEAR subscription professional version on top of the cost for the data hub hardware. It is just too much. I wish I haden't purchased the data hub. It is sitting in a baggy thrown in the corner. I wanted it for the tracking for safety and the boat polars for performance. I should have just gotten the Garmin in-reach and made my own polar. I think predict wind should allow the standard subscription allow the tracking page (I wanted it as a safety feature) and if you need something in the pro, put the AI polars there.

Just one seemingly small but significant edit from a data geek from me being your mention of not being able to stream videos from the unit which granted is the case. But at around 14:20 you mention 88 megabits per second download speed, which would of course allow you to stream youtube quite nicely. But I'm fairly certain it will download at something more like 88 kilobytes per second so something like 125kilobytes in a megabit, you're potentially overselling that by something like 15.6 :D Hopefully this hasn't caused your sales team any stress with people seeing this and then expecting much more speed. Again, love your work and looking forward to owning your suite of great products soon. p.s. if you feel this is such a worthy edit I would gladly accept a sponsorship discount :P

We sail the northern Caribbean and you guys aren't very accurate in our neighborhood. We're out in steady 25 knot winds where youve been predicting gusts to 17, steady at 14. Had to reef underway. Thank goodness ours is a big sturdy vessel.

One question…is the roll number a straight line, in that, is a five 20% worse than a four or is it like earth quakes where each number is twice as bad as the lower number like a five is twice as bad roll wise than a four?

That is great. I love seeing you do a mock trip. Makes me want to get a sailboat again and get back into the ocean. We have a semi displacement powerboat with speeds from 8 knots to 21 knots so we have lots of option to play with PW data. Can you do a mock trip with a powerboat at some point. I am really interested how to change roll, acceleration and slamming by changing speed and course. Powerful tool. Great work team.

Great video. Using pw for passages n powerboat. Is the slamming and acceleration based on the boat speeds in our polars.? In the real world if the boat is slamming, I slow down which makes it more comfortable since waves come slower. Can I effectively do that in pw ? We have used it several times and trying to figure out if those two results are speed related.
