Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life by Jon Lee Anderson
A biography beyond any I've read in terms of its detail, investigation and ability to remain impartial while rolling out the life of such a controversial figure.

JFK & The Unspeakable by James Douglass Book Review
zhlédnutí 2,2KPřed 11 měsíci
Maybe the most extensively researched book I've ever read. James Douglass left little room for debate with the facts he presented and remained honest about the genuine unknowns, even if the writer and reader and make logical inferences. He handles this controversial ordeal and it's heroic yet complicated subject with grace.

The third book in the Beartown trilogy arrived like an early Christmas present. I was anticipating it, which made it even more joyful. I love to cozy up with Backman's books in the winter because even though they aren't the most challenging, I find them so engaging and the characters a beautifully crafted, especially after 2 whole books to build things up.

    I just got done with the book today and heard good things about it. I felt like you did, so it was nice hearing your review. I was trying to find reviews to see if I missed something. I started reading Vonnegut 2 months ago and i am going to read one more (Welcome to the Monkey House) which will be my tenth. The thing about his works is they are easy reads. I am not a fast reader and I flew through his writings. He does jump around in some novels and sometimes i do get lost. THe beginning and the end of the book when Eliot is talked about i found interesting but in the middle of the book when talking about other people I got bored of it. What is your top 10 Vonnegut books? Or did you already make that video? This is the first video i have seen of yours.

    I have research the assassination since 1964. This was a very good book. If one has never read a lot on the assassination, first read "Conspiracy Of Silence" by Dr, Charles Crenshaw. He was one of the doctors, when they brought Kennedy into Parkland Hospital. "Crossfire" by Jim Marrs is one of the best book I have ever read on the subject. Marrs goes into great detail. Always remember when read anything on the assassination...there were probably two Oswalds, the real one, the patsy and then the decoy. IMO, the real Oswald was not even on the 6th floor when the shooting started. He was in fact, a FBI low lever informer....CIA while in Russia.

  • @rawbacon
    @rawbacon Před 5 měsíci

    Oswald acted alone and in 60 years no one has ever presented evidence showing anyone else's involvement.

    • @richardwingert2827
      @richardwingert2827 Před 5 měsíci

      The evidence points to Oswald's innocence. The weapon found on the 6sixth floor of the School Book Depository Building was ineffective as a weapon. The FBI tested the weapon and even the best marksman could never duplicate what Oswald was supposed to have done. The Warren Commission report was a complete and other sham. If Oswald would have been able to give testimony at trail he would have walked. The government's case had absolutely no merit

      To believe the Warren Commission is to accept there are unicorns, that there is a Santa Claus, etc. Just the trail of suspicious deaths of key people who were there or connected to Lee Oswald is telling of a coverup. Do you remember where you were on 9/11? Of course (if you are old enough to remember.) Later CIA director & President Bush "forgot" where he was the day JFK was murdered. He was in Dallas helping to plan the murder of the President.

    "I knew coming into it the story we've been told is not true." If the story you're referring to is that Lee Harvey Oswald killed JFK (and J.D. Tippit) it is absolutely true, and if you look at the actual forensic and ballistics evidence, and properly weigh all of the eyewitness and earwitness testimony, it becomes very clear that LHO killed JFK.

    The story is true! Conspiracy buffs never read the actual Warren report and HSCA report. I’ve owned and read dozens of conspiracy books (including Douglass book) and believed in conspiracy for 30 years, but I never read Warren or ANY official source. Then seven years ago I did. Every conspiracy theory is BS. If you want to review a book, do the Warren report. Or better yet do Vincent Bugliosi’s Reclaiming History

    Look, man… You need to stop listening to crackpots ok?.. Ask yourself this.. Why is Lee repeatedly acting guilty on the streets of Oak Cliff?.. Why did he kill a cop (alleged)?.. Why did he discard his jacket (fact)?.. Why did he avoid the police with his back turned to the street in front of a shoe store (alleged)?.. And why did he try to commit suicide by cop when he was surrounded by cops in a theatre (fact)?.. Conspiracy guys just aren’t very bright, ok?.. James Douglass wouldn’t last 10 minutes with me..

    One of my all time favorites. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy it. It’s a wonderful satire. This book is for the blue collar man who wants less gambling, sex, and drugs in his literature and more dynamic storytelling through great vonnegut character development. When the book left Eliot for a few chapters and covered Fred, Bunny, Mrs. Rosewater, etc all I could think about was Eliot and what he was doing. I couldn’t wait to snap back to Eliot’s perspective. It’s a beautiful story. The average joe hates reading about the conniving lawyers, money money money, tennis, and sailing clubs and that makes Eliot that much more lovable to the target audience. The ending was such a huge build up where we thought Eliot was going to be proven insane and instead he turns around and finds a loophole to do what the lawyers told him he would never be able to do : to “squander” his fortune on charity
