    Adopted a deer head chihuahua. She is great other than not being able to be trusted not to pee on the bed. No urinary cystitis, I take her out to pee constantly, but every once in awhile, as much as I've stressed it, she will do this and it drives me insane. I do NOT use "puppy pads" or any of the other toy breed methods that stem from either the wrong environment (city where people are too lazy to take them downstairs on the hour or walk them at all) or not taking her out enough. It's maddening because I live almost under zen monk cleaning principles and I cannot deal with this. I've had a Bullmastiff, beagles, a pitbul and NONE of them did this sh_t. Please help!

      Most definitely works with dogs that have been semi-trained or trained but some dogs they still insist on a unwanted behaviour because they either focus on the subject and don't listen to the cues so this is a great way to redirect them instead of getting physical with the dog and punish the dogs that way.

    Great video! I feel I controlmy dogs quite a bit, but they continue with this behavior. They don't pee inside, but they mark every 20 steps they take outside. How can I stop them from "competing"? They are both 6yr old mix french poodle males. I've tried treats, exercise, not letting them pee immediately when we go out, but they continue with this.

      Training, including to provide their daily five essential needs will help them to gain more confidence and pay more attention to you and your cues rather than getting distracted by what is out there. They are simply to focused on the smells rather than being focused on you.

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining Před 15 dny

      It would be really hard to train a 14 year old to start peeing indoors as it has become a natural habit for him. Unless he is having accidents then you can make him wear diapers. Otherwise, as humans we can't force dogs to do things that are not natural. It also depends on your breed, personality and willing to change. So, I would just take him outside with an umbrella or somthing to let him pee outside rather than stressing yourself for something that is not realistic.

    Yah, beagle lovers everywhere!!! More-so to those who help the humans who think all beagles come pre-trained. Our two beagles now and the two late beagles all thought they knew everything at 10weeks old. Smart and would have run the house. They go through life thinking I can do that and figure it out on the fly. My husband always said a beagle they are deductive reasoning experts. We go on ‘SNIFFING WALKS’ which they have to the end of the short leash to smell whatever and no tugging at the front or back. Yes it can be done because all our beagles have done it. They lay down while we have coffee at Starbucks or Lunch downtown. Thanks for the video’s. Our first beagle had me in tears and I went to dog obedience training and suffered while ‘golden’s’ did everything right. A beagle breeder-trainer took compassion on me and showed me how to connect with a beagle. I was off and never looked back. That’s what u are doing. Again thank.🥳

    Thank you. I have been delaying spaying my 1.5 yr old beagle for these reasons. With looking into all the options it seems none of them are holistic and I’ve been torn because of the stigma around not being spayed. I love her energy and I fear it could alter something about her that I would regret not to mention the risks involved throughout. She is my SD in training. I have 3 other dogs that are “fixed” since they were from rescues. My SD is always in my care and I am able to keep things stable during her heat and I don’t take her out as much and prevent potential problems during that time from occurring. I can see how tubal ligation would be helpful for public scenario and for a peace of mind. I will do my research to find a vet that does performs it as there will likely be some travel involved. Thanks again for sharing this information!

      @SaroDogTraining Před měsícem

      Allowing a dog to stay intact, teaches dog owners to be more intune with their dogs and connect even more. The main reason it is advertised to 'spay and neuter dogs" is mainly because of cats and bunnies that multiply like crazy and dogs have been mixed in the bunch. It is mainly to stop the overpopulation of the dogs and the health considerations have been ignored.

      You should be able to accomplish this in a weekend or a long weekend. If you are finding it really hard to accomplish the basic potty training a puppy or a dog, you should reconsider the choice that you have made about getting the dog. Dogs need the dog owners to spend a lot of time on them at least in the beginning of the relationship.

    As a dog trainer, who almost exclusively works with behavioral dogs (evaluating bite record dogs at the shelter, traumatized, dog reactive, people reactive, fearful, overstimulated, overwhelmed, and often dangerous). I couldn't agree more. I can spot an e-collar trained dog from a mile away. Dog reactive dogs trained with an e-collar hold their bodies a certain way and you can see a dog crazy focusing on the owner (seemingly under control and very still) go from quiet to blow-up. In order for dogs to be able to handle stimulus in their environment and be relaxed, they must practice calm and relaxed. There is nothing about being afraid (of being shocked) to break eye-contact with the owner or move that promotes relaxed. The dog is in a constant state of stress. The dog is not practicing calm. Yes, with the e-collar, you can stop a well rehearsed reactivity cycle from continuing to be rehearsed (which is good), but your dog is not changing their brains response to other dogs correctly. You can get compliance, you can see quick fix results, but these results are harmful to the dogs' well-being. I've had to undo the damage caused by these big box training companies year after year for nearly 16 years. I am also a therapist. If I shocked my clients diagnosed with PTSD when they showed irritability, agitation, ECT in crowds, their outward presenting symptoms would likely go away. No one on earth would be like, "you've cured that person!" "The results speak for themselves." Any reasonable person would know the client is only now suffering (even more) in silence. I'm not skipping processing, teaching life-skills, healing how the brain 🧠 and body respond to stimulus for my human or dog clients.

    • @SaroDogTraining
      @SaroDogTraining Před měsícem

      I agree. A dog who is used to be trained with a shock collar is always in high arousal state of mind and can not relax because it never knows when it will feel the pain or the discomfort. It is a stressed dog mentally but physically is not showing it maybe because it is shut down emotionally.

    Hi Saro, my beagle was once lost and stolen by stranger. He has become unfriendly and barks a lot every time someone passes by. He doesn't want strangers to touch him. How should i make him understand that strangers do not bring danger and he should not bark? Please help me..

      I’m sorry to hear about your beagle’s distressing experience. It’s understandable that he might feel anxious or defensive around strangers after such an ordeal. Here are some steps you can take to help him feel more comfortable and reduce his barking. Start by exposing your dog to strangers at a distance where he feels safe and doesn’t react. Gradually decrease the distance over time as he becomes more comfortable. Help your dog associate strangers with positive experiences. Arrange controlled, calm interactions with strangers. Ask a friend to help by approaching slowly and stopping if your dog shows signs of discomfort. Reward your dog for calm behavior. Teach and use the sit and stay commands. And finally, provide a safe space where your dog can retreat if he feels overwhelmed. This could be a quiet room or a crate with his favorite bedding and toys. I hope these tips help. Let me know if you need more help.

    How do I stop my dog from the spinning around in circles and barking when I car passes or when somebody enters the house energy she has is very bad then after that she gets tried and goes for the water bowl

      That is a sign of an excited dog due to the lack of its needs being provided. The body and the mind are not stimulated enough so when exciting actions such as cars or people happen, the mind can not rest and does not know what to do and how to control its body and mind. So, focus on providing your dog's daily needs explained in this video: czcams.com/video/7PLTj5zNSVw/video.htmlsi=a59xe8mMV5Z4Ksrh

      @@SaroDogTraining if you have met all of his needs and he is still doing these problematic behaviors, what steps should you take? Ignore puppy and give no attention?

      If you provide them all and if you still get problematic behaviours, it is a sign that you either didn't provide them properly or not enough or too much of something. You just have to provide what your dog needs and not what you think it needs.

      For sure. For instance I suggest to exercise a dog not more than 60 minutes a day and not less than 30 minutes.
