What you doing with the white tr7? I dis tell you it was your engine mounts, I had the same problem fitting the header on my 2ltr
Yes, you were correct. All swapped-out now. New video coming soon. Cheers and take care. Chris Robinson
Funny, those mounts look exactly like motor mounts for a TR6
Glad you got the the height issue sorted Chris, should sound great with the big bore exhaust. ☺
Hello Oliver 👋👋 💖🤗
😸😸😻😻😻😻😻
Wow those eyes
Yes, I know. He is beautiful.
Hes Gorgeous!! ❤🐾❤️
Hi Chris, just watched your video, lovely stuff. I'm having trouble with my scrapheap challenge of a 74 range rover classic. Has previously been fitted with a 3.9L efi but looks like they share the same oil pump in this scenario. Hasn't ran in two years until recently after getting fuel to the engine. It runs rough and doens't like to rev up with only occasionally idling. Have checked many possibilitys already but am next onto oil pressure. Should have been higher up on the list i know, guage wasnt hooked up as it turns out and so when i wired to the oil pressure sender unit on the pump, the guage goes to max pressure on turn of key but then falls to nothing when engine is 'running'. Am i to presume i have wired it up correctly and there is no oil pressure for the hydrolic lifters which will cause the terrible running? And as far as fixing this issue, i'm thinking of just packing the oil pump gasket full of grease to hopefully create a seal. I'm guessing I'm going to need to prime that thing too so out comes that distributor too...Am I on the right tracks for all this? Cheers
Firstly you must get Oil pressure. The Oil pump does not self prime. You can buy the tool to fit down the Distributor hole. Just make sure when you remove the Distributor, the engine is at TDC for number one cylinder. Check this by taking the Rocker cover off. With this off you will see Oil coming out of the Rocker shaft. It also sounds like the oil pressure gauge sender wire and the oil pressure light have been mixed-up. Check online which is which. What fuel delivery system are you using. EFi or carbs?
@@chrisrobinson61 yes oil pressure is a must, the oil in it looks good from the dipstick so thats something. Yes I understand that, although won't turning the engine over with spark plugs out do the same thing (have seen this done by someone else and worked fine). Smart to take the rocker covers off anyway however just to have a look, I will need to do some research on how to go about adjusting tappets when it has hydrolic lifters, they're a first for me. Yes that would make sense with the oil pressure light, do you know where is the oil pressure guage sender supposed to be located as the internet has not been much use so far for me. Am rocking the EFI system which ive been swearing 'at' not 'by' haha but thiking that might all change if that wasn't the reason why its not running correct. Cheers
@@jamesfry8520 Church House Classics on CZcams is a good place to start understanding the Rover V8
@@chrisrobinson61 Legend. I have been working under Steve Ogg for a while now if you know of him (largly known locally for anything land rover). cheers
That looks like a chonky boy.
Nice to see it getting together Chris, least it's only an engine mount or two. Appreciate the updates.
Aww thanks ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nice one Chris, its great when you fix one problem then get another, hope the new engine mounts fixes your height problem, you can always make a spacer to add a touch more.
Cheers Mark. I think I'm going to go with the Full Rimmer Brothers Exhaust system. It'll save a lot of messing around. I'll compare the new Engine mounts to the ones fitted to the Blue car. Take care mate. Chris Robinson
Hello Oliver the rescue cat! 🤗🤗🤗
Oliver says Hello. Take care. Chris Robinson
He’s lovely, will make a great companion 👍
Nice looking manifolds Chris, no room for error with the V8, everything so close.
Mark, you are so right.
Im after a tr7 or 8.
Contact Robsport International. They will help you.
Great video Chris, about time the weather gave you a break!
Bad luck with the fuel tank Chris, I hope you get the manifold sorted.
One TR7 rebuild would be hard work Chris but two others as well as a bike!, your doing well, I have only my MGTF and its done now, but even one old car keeps you busy, I am aiming to have a TR7 coupe again in the future but I think the two litre will do me, the one I had was great, can't see me finding a good one very easily but I hope so in a couple of years.
Cheers Mark. These projects keep me this side of sanity. More videos to come. I also have a Honda Sabre 1100 in the kitchen. Something to work on when it's raining. Take care mate. Chris Robinson
Hi Chris, lost track a bit, why did you remove the sender? was it leaking? Testing the sender unit when it is in the empty position you should have nearly zero ohms, which will bypass the delay unit to maintain the low fuel light on the dash, plus the empty position on gauge.
Nothing worked, Low level light and the fuel gauge. I suspected it was the sender unit. As it happens it appears it wasn't. I'm going to check the wiring to the sender tomorrow. I'll post another video tomorrow with my findings, that's if it isn't raining. Take care. Chris Robinson
@@chrisrobinson61 look forward to it buddy, hope the rain stays off
Maybe you can get it altered, I would think twice about it being so close to the starter, all that heat might damage it, also can you remove the starter with the manifold in place. Hope it works out Chris.
I'm going to fabricate a heat shield to protect the starter motor, Mark. Cheers for your observation. 'Going to give it another attempt if it ever stops raining. Take care Chris Robinson
Change your engine mounts for new ones it will give you the clearance u need
The Engine mounts are new. I reckon it's the orientation of the actual engine. I'll give it another try when it stops raining. Take care. Chris Robinson
Maybe a sensible car maker wouldn’t make you remove the engine, but Audi would.
Looks very wrong. Maybe for a P6 or SD1. Totally different to the tubular one fitted on the other car.
Hi Chris,I had a TR7 back in 1980 and had a problem with the pop up headlights when I switched them on they would rise and fall out of sync,Triumph issued a recall to change the headlights motors as it was deemed a safety issue.
David, nice one. I'll keep that in mind if mine ever go flopsey. Take care. Chris Robinson
Had one when I first passed my test went like a rocket used to shake the carbs to bits as I remember
Does the drill need to turn clock wise or anti clockwise.
From memory, it's the same direction as the distributor rotation. Clockwise. Take care. Chris Robinson
Hi Chris, good to see the car run well, happy days!
Thanks 👍
Nice sound from the V8 engine : ) Jay
a man in a dress ? that is different......oh well.....for the car ? that's easy ...forget horsepower...you need a larger engine with more torque.....way better to drive day to day .. Cheers indeed : )
ok...that's my sense of Humor.... Ever heard of " Group 44 " and the Triumph Tr8 ?
A DHC TR8 was my latest purchase. Keep watching and take care. Chris Robinson
@@chrisrobinson61 i have one of my own....a TR7 with the old Ford 5.0/302 and carb...backed by the 5 speed ( my adaptation ) and a Ford Mustang rear end . ..cheers Jay
Great video Chris, can't wait to see the blue one finished.
She's getting there. Take care. Chris Robinson
Love these updates, patience of a Saint Chris.
My 8 is one of the last Wedges built Chris, August of 81, and the window regulators are fussy and difficult to adjust...a friend with an early production 7 had the same issues....yours seem to work perfectly, and the cards look like new
Nice one, always thought the TR7/8 was a lovely design. Love it when survivor cars fall into good hands.
Dam rain, we seem to be getting wet very often these days. What's happening with the white car Chris, have you shelved that for the time being.
Mark, I'm just concentrating on the cars that are outside while the weather is so good, LoL. Take care. Chris Robinson
are you a specialist British leyland Womble ? 🤣
Nice job Chris!
Nice going Chris.
What's the plan Chris - are you aiming to build a fleet so you can drive a different car each day?! 😊 It's great to see someone just working their way through the issues and sorting them out..keep up the good work. 👍
Really pleased to see progress Chris, sounds lovely, sad i sold it so long ago.
Stuart, thanks for that. She really is in great condition. I made a mistake on this latest video, the plug leads for #6 and #4 were the wrong way around. I'll explain tomorrow in the next video. That's if it's not raining too much. Take care. Chris Robinson.
Nice one Chris, getting somewhere now.
Look into re engineering the alternator bracket to have the part where you have tacked on the washers, thick enough to be tapped and threaded. You then don't have the pain of using 2 spanners to get it all tightened up. No nuts, just a lock washer. It looks as if you will have very limited adjustment so I can imagine your problem with belt size. A length of cord should get you very close to the correct measurement but V8 converters should have it figured out by now. Good luck from sunny Kent. Commented before viewing your next upload.
Painful but its still forward progress bud 👍👍
