This video proves women are stupid. 😂 The WNBA makes 180 million a year. The NBA makes 10.5 billion (that’s 10.5 1000 million for the ladies reading this). Yeah. The wage gap is not some fiction. It’s what they are worth. If more people watch, they make more. Pretty simple.

I can’t tell if this is a joke or something, but probably not as people don’t get basic economics. If the WNBA is smart and takes advantage of Caitlin Clark’s appeal it probably will lead to higher salaries, but it takes time. She hasn’t even played a game.

Nobody will start watching WNBA games simply because they're not all that entertaining compared to NBA games and I'm not sure she changes that. Even if she does, she's only one person. Also, 1 good year of Caitlan raising the viewership ratings doesn't mean they are on pace with men's sports as far as viewership goes. The WNBA loses money every year. They have no fan base. 90% of the sports fans in America can’t name 5 players in the WNBA. It should go out of business and then CC wouldn’t make any salary. I loved watching Iowa women’s basketball the last two years and she is an amazing athlete. I watched her run in the NCAA tournament the last 2 years. But I’m also a realist. You conflate the pro and college game. Women’s college basketball was easily more compelling this season. She’s already having an effect on tickets, TV, and jersey sales for the W. But to say she deserves a certain amount of money is somewhat absurd. Not completely, but somewhat. I might contend that athletes might be underpaid in relation to the revenue they generate. But it’s absurd to say she deserves $12 million per year from her team. The W hasn’t proven that they can sustain interest and revenue. Why, they have yet to turn a profit. Instead of babbling some nonsense about an imaginary pay gap how about you instead support the W financially by buying tickets and merch as well as watching the games and supporting the sponsors. When more money comes in then the players are in a better position to negotiate for more money. That’s how the men grew their game; if you want mens money then do things mens way. 😂

There's 82 games in the NBA and 40 in the WNBA. Everything is done by percentages. More games, more revenue, more money for players. More women that watch WNBA and support the teams more money players would make. Also WNBA has been around for 30 years while the NBA has been around close to 80. Give it time it will grow and with that so will pay.

She definitely was 99% of why that game had such high viewership and absolutely deserves the biggest cut of whatever money that one game brought in But the pay gap in basketball is valid because women don't support women's basketball. If women watched women play basketball as much as men watch men play basketball then there would be just as much money for the wnba to divvy up. The wnba season is more than just one game. Who knows, maybe Clark will be a hugely bankable star Being highly paid in athletics has nothing to do with how good you are, it's how much money your league is making. Michael Jordan almost single-handedly kept the NBA profitable, made basketball shoes into some kind of high fashion thing (men's fashion i guess), and yes he was the best player but it wasn't just that and I won't even give Jordan credit for doing anything on purpose per se, it was a concerted effort to make the NBA huge and Mike was the star of the project. Maybe Clark can do something similar, she's off to a good start. But men will need some convincing before they choose to tune in to a wnba game. I'm not saying that's right or i agree with that, I'm just saying this is what I read and hear. I used to work in the building the university of Louisville plays in. Louisville has a great women's team. The women's team gets further in march madness than the men. Donovan Mitchell was there when I started. Asia Durr, Nyisha Hines Allen, Kylee Shook etc I was allowed to watch the games basically next to the home bench. From that angle i enjoyed the women's games just as much as the men's. But I found that i don't like watching women's basketball on tv. My theory is that they have the camera in the same place for men's and women's games. And women aren't as fast and until they lower the rims they aren't dunking on each other, so something about filming from that angle just doesn't serve the women's game. One last idea, make a wnba game, make it bad ass. Don't make it realistic, make it like some combination of nba jam and tecmo bowl. I read that the Japanese developers of Tecmo Bowl hadn't seen a lot of American Football but probably had read a lot of comics so the goal was to make the players into action heroes. So they put in all these animated cut scenes that make the game feel more like a movie. It's great! Do that for the wnba. No one in the NBA can do the moves they do in NBA Jam but it's still fun. If the wnba doesn't want to lower the rims, then out out a popular video game with crazy dunks and wildly exaggerated feats of athleticism. This is a golden age of girls playing video games. I don't know if it would translate to lots more viewership of wnba games but it could be another source of income. Like maybe Caitlin Clark makes 100k on her basketball salary but a couple million for being on the cover of WNBA Jam or whatever it would be called. And I bet guys who aren't interested in watching women's basketball wouldn't mind playing a fun women's basketball video game

There is no rule stopping her from declaring for the NBA draft. There is also no rule barring her from being drafted and playing in the NBA. She's more than welcome to try. Always remember: Only women can play in the WNBA, but anyone can play in the NBA. The NBA isn't a mens only league. There was a woman drafted into the NBA in 1969. Just do it.

So the fact the NBA supports the WNBA at a loss of about 10 million a year means nothing? The college game for woman is more popular and the NIL deals the women get show that. Caitlin made a lot of money off her likeness and image in college due to her popularity and that's great. Unfortunately the WNBA still has not caught on like the woman's game in college. Maybe her being their will make the WNBA more profitable, time will tell but for now when you lose money every year you can't expect a big raise. Saying this a gender pay gap issue is disingenuous.
