Imagine it´s 1974 and you really want to meet Milton Erickson. How would you approach Milton to get him interested to meet YOU? Gunther talks about how he did it, the crazy letter and the riddle.
Part 2 - Encountering Milton Erickson
zhlédnutí 1,9KPřed 6 lety
Milton had a unique way to enter into people´s reality, playfully and skillfully. People really felt seen. Those who met him say: „He really meant me“. This exceptional human quality is one of the main reasons why - unlike other influential figures of his time - we still remember Milton today. Accordingly, Gunther´s and Stephen´s experiences with Milton vary a lot.Get to know them here.

He encouraged them to develop their own way, respecting their individual qualities. They also talk about Milton´s own development as a therapist, especially regarding his indirect approach in working with clients.Get to know ...

Moments of deep feelings like the death of beloved ones or the birth of a child may impact you in profound way. What worked before, doesn´t fit anymore. So you have to look for a new way. Stephen describes how - when his father died and his daughter was born within one month - led to a more body-oriented concept of trance - today known as „Generative Trance“. Get to know how Stephen did it.
Part 5 - The Balance of Consciousness and the Creative Unconscious
zhlédnutí 798Před 6 lety
A creative self involves a balance between the conscious mind and the creative unconscious. You have to have a foot in both worlds, creativity being the conversation between them. This is true within a person, but also between different people (such as the client and the therapist.) Major aspects to get into balance are integration, adaptation and awareness (mindfulness). Please keep in mind: Y...

The world seems to be out of balance. Thus we need to use what we learned to support more integration and to help people to connect again to each other. Not as a nice option. It´s a necessity! We can´t let violence destroy our world, we have to offer opportunities to people who are not integrated or those that lost hope.Let´s stand up an take a position!Learn more about our opportunities

What I dont understand why you would make an artifical differentiation between ego and inner world. I mean I do understand why people do it, but couldnt one also say that the ultimate goal was to make the ego state(s) congruent to what your inner world wants, or making your trance state congruent with what you want in your 'real' life? Or isnt the ultimate goal as you are describing the implementation and congruent making of the trance state with your real life experience? But yeah, the differentiation if course helps for the sake of describing.... I also find it interesting, how Gunther Schmidts perspective stems then from a relatively qualitative different cultural experience...

As a Therapist for the past 25 years, I have noticed on some of the days that I least felt like going to the office, that I was most sleep deprived or even in some sort of physical pain - that I have been most on, most effective and most helpful . . . maybe in these states, we are more available to get over the Self and step into the lives of others.

I think what you said at the end is the key. To see how your own rebellion creates the same level of wrong actions you are purporting to stop will help bring down the heat dramatically. This is one of the biggest , if not the biggest complaint from the Trump supporters against the left. The hypocrisy is so clear to the right and so incredulous it is not seen by the left. Until the left sees this and changes the dialogue from that hypocritical perspective...it will continue to get worse. The right cannot stand the left responding with a righteous indignation while coming at them with even more violence. They will never let their guard down or feel safe enough to dialogue when confronted with such hypocrisy that runs so counter to their highest values. Not that they don't have their own hypocrisy to contend with.
