That's really interesting to me, because this video actually was given to me by my teacher who wanted me to see what the dance looked like, because I had done an article Seminole Green Corn Ceremony in Florida. it's good to know that this wasn't necessarily a great depiction of what their ceremony might have looked like
B. Wynn um, no. The Seminoles harbored run away slaves and intermarried with some of them. Afro-centrics use the pictures of the mixed seminoles to push the idea that Seminoles are black. In Florida you have the mixed Seminoles around Fort Drum, but the true bloods live further down South in Broward. Most of the mixed bloods don’t go to ceremonies or even speak their own language. You can tell who is a traditional Seminole by their scars.
Idk about Seminole traditions specifically, but I do know there are “social” stomps and I’m sure this is one. I assume it would be ok to video with permission at one of those, but I would defer to the Mekko.
