      The paint will cure similar to oil paint that may take quite a bit of time. That being said the wax will make it more durable and seem dry as soon as it cools

    I know this is an older video but I have a question as this is the first tutorial video of this type of art I've seen. Do you need the torch or can you use a heat gun?

    • @OozyToast
      @OozyToast Před 11 měsíci

      Yes the heat gun is better for the overall painting. The torch is faster and more localized for details. I would use whatever you have. In the long run you might want both

    Really cool idea for all the storage, but where do your knees go? Do you only use it standing up? Seems it wouldn't be comfortable to sit in front of as you'd have to spread your knees wide to get close or lean in a lot.

    How to keep your oil sticks soft and no skinning over: store in a lidded box with a piece of cloth with a few drops of oil of clove. This is an old technique for keeping oil paints on a (covered) palette fresh.

      I believe oil pastels never cure and sticks do making for a more permanent work. I’m also not an expert and I would think if they are fused with the wax in think layers it might be ok

    • @OozyToast
      @OozyToast Před 2 lety

      For my setup the top surface is larger the. The bottom so there is and overhang. I stand mostly at the table and would hit my knees yes. You can modify this to use a larger top with more overhang for leg room or even a hollow base table if you like

    So I recently purchased R&F x2 and Kama x1 pigment sticks to use with encaustic. Did not realize the Kama was hard - not soft and plyable like R&F. Wonder if you have a way to make hard pigment stick more pliable...add it to oil or solvent? Would rather not use solvent tho. Thanks for the demo.

    Matt, I'm new to the art/painting world. I have a workbench I purchased from Home Depot years ago. It's great for painting but it has zero storage. I'm thinking I could get a table top from Ikea and mount it on the bench with the piano hinges. (?). But there will be no storage. Your desk is so cool. It has everything a crafter could want or need. Where did you find the rolling tool box?

    • @OozyToast

    **I absolutely love this desk and it works perfect as an art table. **do7.pl/ZDesk** Assembly was a tad difficult but only because a few pieces were heavy. I recommend to get an extra hand when putting it together. I was worried that it wouldn’t be too stable but I’ve had no issues so far. I originally asked for a refund because after I purchased the desk I found one that someone was throwing away. The Seller was very responsive and understanding to my request and offered a refund. But once the desk arrived I decided to keep it instead because it was so nice and the free table I got wasn’t big enough. Now I have 2 work areas and plenty of space.**
