ECO Tireflator Valve Cam repair
After my model 97 ECO tireflator stopped working, the issue was found to be a broken plastic pin on the valve cam. This is the home (maybe temporary) repair I made to get it working again.

right on
Thank you so much for making this video, I was just going to use dynamite and separate it LOL
Turn your grinder around this is painful to watch my eyes are bleeding
That turned out amazing, well, within an average guy's skills. As a Canadian, you do get extra street cred for the hockey pucks.
Thank you. I thought the pucks would work well for mounting the tub to the frame... and they did. My brother will be sad when he realizes he is missing a bunch of pucks.
Any info or update on your issue with timing chain skip? Were you able to realign the cam shaft sprocket with your crank shaft pulley? If so, what work was involved to correct? ...or was the issue unrepairable? I might have same issue.
I realigned and cranked the engine by hand. I confirmed some valves were bent... got a used engine and did an engine swap.

Thanks for digging into this and sharing
The biggest problem both the AX5 and AX15s had were a snap ring coming off and allowing the reverse and 5th to clash. That part you referred to as syncromesh is the synchronizer assembly and the rings are the balking rings. The pieces that had popped out are spring loaded. Placement of those on the springs is important. Upon reassembly, you’ll find them slightly tedious to keep in place. Once you get them back in place, you’ll fully understand how they work. I would rather do any manual transmission over an automatic. But you can’t get all the gravy all the time.
I am definitely not a transmission expert. Thank you for sharing your knowledge,
I appreciate the bit of info about the measurements and such, but any chance you could show how to mount the tire, and maybe some other settings?
Thanks a million. Yours is the only video to show this.
Hello, Great video on Blue Viper wheel balancer. Can you do a video on OPT and ALU settings?
How the machine holding up? Planning to buy the same just wanted to know if it will be a good purchase.. thank you
I have used it to balance over 100 tires. It does the trick. Make sure the base is well anchored to prevent the machine from shaking when spinning the tire. I found the instructions where tough to follow, but I figured it out. It is used a couple times a month. It meets my needs. I am happy with the purchase.
Thank you
Any video on main shaft break down?
I did not take the main shaft apart
Was there an indicator that showed you or you heard that it had skipped? Our 08 civic has 230k and chain has never been checked, not have valves been adjusted, I hear nothing strange. We purchased new.
I purchased the car as a project. Motor was slightly taken apart when I got the car. The motor stopped running when the previous owner was driving it. No idea if there was any previous symptoms. The previous owner had taken it into the dealer who took it apart and verified the chain had slipped and wrecked the engine. The car had over 300000K. The chain was stretched. I realigned the chain and did a compression test. compression was 0 in one of the cylinders
@@jeepsandstuff9113 interesting, thank you. I have a tapping or ticking noise from my engine i hope it's just a much needed valve adjustment. 225k miles and i don't know if it was ever touched
How can you change the display to ounces?
Press and hold at the same time: Stop and +a and -a (a is the up and down arrows on the left of the display. the weight locations)
great video. Could you explain ALU a little more? And maybe balance a wheel using ALU?
So I had to replace 2 of 4 the bushings that connect to the small pulley on an old Shimpo. I'm trying to reattach the small pulley but the belt is so tight I don't have enough slack to line up the bushings with the 2 holes on the front wall of the base. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can get the small pulley in place? It's really awkward trying to line up all 4 bushings at once while trying to keep the belt on both pulleys. Any advice would be a huge help!
Can you please advise with the issue I’m having with my Eco 98? Here a video I made. czcams.com/video/DdybZnN8g5A/video.html
Can you explain the OPT function? I don’t understand what the button does and I see OPT when I try to balance a tire and don’t know what to do.
Do you have the owner manual? Opt means the tire is out of balance by more than 30g (1.1 oz). The instructions say to push the opt button to do a second spin. I am not sure what this will do. I have never tried this. I balance based on the amounts displayed. I am going to try the opt button next time I balance a tire and the display shows opt,
@@jeepsandstuff9113 That’s my understanding is push the OPT button then C and start balancing. Didn’t work for me and I think it is an important step to learn. I ended up splitting the difference in weight it showed OPT and then continued to balance the tire with success. If you try it and figure it out please do a video.
@@brentcoutts8568 I just balance a few wheels a year. Every now and then I get a OPT on the screen and I don't know what to do. Do you think it wants me to optimise the wheel?
Hi, did you eventually repair this AX-5 and what did it take to repair it parts wise. I also have an AX-5 out of a Jeep Wrangler YJ 2.5 1995. There is a problem engaging 1st and second gear,i suspect 1&2 synchromesh and keys as per your video. Are there other factors l need to be aware of
Aside from the obvious, are the 2WD and 4WD versions the same?
I do not know for sure, but I would expect the internals to be the same or very similar.
Can we set it to ounce
Yes, after running the balancer with a tire installed and all dimensions entered, the required weight can be set to ounces. After running a tire and seeing the weights needed, press and hold the stop button and then press both the up/down arrows for the inside diameter together (together with stop still pressed). The displayed required weights will switch to ounces from grams or visa versa.
Thanks for showing how to properly install the tire on the machine.. smh
How do I get the rest of the re ud video's

How did you mount the door striker?
I have a fiberglass tub and no some direction on how to install them.
You can buy an aftermarket door latch mounting kit for fiberglass tubs. I made my own based on pictures of the aftermarket ones. Mine were made out of 1/8 steel plate. It was a lot of trial and error. I am happy with the result

Is it possible to find a replacement motor?
I replaced the piston rings on my 2.5L and now I’m not getting spark ⚡️. I’m assuming I need to re align it this way to get it going again.
If I can't downshift could it be the clutch or gears?
Really nice job! I have a 1979 cj5 with a 4wd Hardware glass body tub. Easy installation!! My Dad and I are currently rebuilding his 83 cj7. New frame and used 4wd Hardware body tub. Looks like the same guy had your tub and the tub for Dads Jeep! The guy must have loved drilling holes… Thanks for doing these videos.
where the hell did I get this extra 10mm nut with the washer sorta attached to it after doing this?
Hi - I got that same error code and found what it was for, online. But, no solution was given. Your video was very clear, well done and now I know where to start. If only I could easily get to the back of it, it would be so much easier. But, taking the front off to get to it is what I must do. Dang!
The 'lever thing' in your video has a flaw. It is connected to two potentiometers located underneath the lead weight tray. One of the pots is used to calculate the wheel diameter and the other is used to calculate the wheel hub offset. The wheel width is manually entered after you measure it with the plastic width gauge. My WB100 machine stopped working in the middle of a job. I discovered that the plastic gear on the wheel offset pot was jumping the linear gear rail underneath the plastic tray top. This issue caused the machine to stop accepting control inputs. I resolved the issue by removing the top tray and rotating the wheel offset pot gear until the numbers on the 'lever thing' matched the numbers on the wheel offset digital display. The problem is temporarily resolved until I figure out how to stop the pot gear from jumping the track. I've balanced approximately 30 tires on this machine since new, so it is lightly used and less than two years old. As for the terrible instructions that came with the machine, I contacted the company that sold it to me and they provided me with a much more detailed service manual. The service manual had lots of spelling mistakes but I was able to edit the manual so that I could understand it better. Overall, I really like this machine. It gives reliable and repeatable results and makes balancing tires a breeze.
Is the manual digital? If so could you send it to me? I'm having an awful time trying to figure my balancer out.
@@dougurch8778 Yes, it is. I would need an email address in order to send it to you.
@@dougurch8778 Hello Doug it would be good if you sent instructions to me because I have the same balancer with poor instruction thanks
I am having a terrible time doing aluminum wheels. The OPT keeps popping up and not sure what to do. Instructions are terrible and with this machine a good understanding about the controls is important for a successful balance. My biggest one is the OPT when it comes up. I asked some Technicians and they didn’t have a clue
Can you explain the OPT function?
Are the ax5 and ax15 tail housing the same spec? Dimensions?
Again where is the 5.7 vids folks
I'm working on a 5 and been through a gallon of resin. Just found out that there is a wooden core in between those inner and outer shell. I've come to replace both rear body mounts and removing the outer or bottom shell running between them. Using aluminum angle and foam board for a composite connection. The tail gate is great, I'll be trying this myself. I'm even thinking of a resin injected hard top. Great job.
Good job. Any good reference for mounting the Fiberglass Tub. I found a used tub but haven't really found alot of info mounting it
The fiberglass tub does not line up with all the factory CJ7 mounting locations. I will create a video in the next couple weeks showing how I mounted the tub.
WTH you get attacked by a dang werewolf
No werewolf, just need more practice with an angle grinder
Good video and that sucks about the valves…
I heard you say you are using weights measured in oz you can change the setting to read oz instead of g, might make things a little easier for you
How do you switch the settings?
Thank you so much for posting this. I had the same clog and this was such a perfect fix.
Have you figured the aluminum rims balancing - 1 or 2 mode. As far as I know the mechanics, machine needs distance + diameter to each balance point. What I do is switch to mode 1 using ALU, drag the arm to inner weight position, hold, drag to outer weight position, hold. Just not sure if machine is taking a1/d1 and aE/dE like in S mode
I have recently purchased the same unit. The instruction manual that came with it is very poor. There are two wires (green & blue) at the back of the wheel balancer which is connected to a microswitch for the operation of the cover. can you provide me with some instructions for the connection of the two wires? Thank you.
On my machine, the wires to the switch for the cover are both red. The switch has two places to plug in the wires. I do not think it matters which wire goes to which connector. As long as the switch creates a circuit when the cover is closed, you are good to go.
@@jeepsandstuff9113 you are right! Thank you Sir.
@@yaoliang2943 Glad it worked for you.
Can we change from grams to Ounces
@@pinoyh100guy8 yes it is in the manual
Do you need to slap on a new cover gasket if you just want to pull the cover of just to examine it?
I reuse the same gasket.
How do you know where to put the weight?
when doing the calibration, the 100g weight can be put on anywhere
Interested to know if there are any differences between the AX5 used on the 2.5 gasoline and the AX5 used in the Diesel jeeps?
I do not know the answer to your question.
Diesel Jeep? I only ask because I’m swapping a Perkins diesel into mine.

Hi thanks for the upload. I have a Whisper RK3D, unfortunately it has stopped working. We have just took the bottom off and revealed it has a different motor. It does not have a belt drive, but is a direct drive which is placed under the wheel head and it has a control panel to regulate the current. Our guess is that the controller board has blown, perhaps because we live on a boat and it cannot be earthed , or it’s time is up as it’s probably more than 10 years old. These controller boards $320 plus shipping and tax to the UK. I am not sure if it’s worth fixing to be honest. Anyway thanks for the upload.
I do not have any experience working on a RK3D. I would try to help you if I did. I hope you find a solution.
@@jeepsandstuff9113 that’s very nice,, thank you. I think we will talk to someone perhaps in robotics who knows about controllers.
