    I currently am having an issue with recording of Invoices sent to Customers. This issue is only happening with my customers not my vendors. Currently any paid invoice by a customer is classifying to interest income in my profit/loss report. I am not sure why this is happening or how to fix this issue?

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog Před 19 hodinami

      It sounds like you have a product/service, or maybe even multiple, that have interest income incorrectly set as their income account. I have a video on this: czcams.com/video/SKsXXtIdef0/video.html In the video I show how to update the income account for a product/service around 3:00. There is an "Also update this account in historical transactions" checkbox which I mention and caution against clicking. I'd like to also mention here that I DO NOT suggest clicking that as it can screw up a lot of past transaction and can be very difficult to fix. If you need further assistance fixing this issue you can schedule a meeting and we can look at it together over Zoom and get it fixed: www.gentlefrog.com/meeting/

In this situation, how many accounts are supposed to be involved for Debit and Credit side when making a journal entry? Thank you in advance.

    • @GentleFrog

      Make a truck asset and then choose that when recording the purchase in bank feeds. If the money did not come from a business checking account then use a journal entry and debit the truck asset and create an account for the source of the cash (if one doesn't already exist) and credit that account.

    i have a customer saying they can't see the payment options on their emailed invoice, but I can see it on my end. I resent it and still they can't see it. Have you run in to this problem before? I did what you said on this tutorial already. Is it a problem on his end with the web browser possibly? He's a long time customer and we've never had issues with his invoice. Did QBO update something again and I didn't realize it?

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog Před 7 dny

      I've never encountered this. I would suggest sending this exact invoice to your home email and see what happens. Open the invoice in a different browser so it's definitely not logged into QBO. Ask the recipient to send you a pic of what the recipient sees. There's the possibility that you may have unselected the payment methods. In the new invoice layout this is in the Payment options section of the Manage menu to the right of the invoice. I have a video about it: czcams.com/video/AZxPcmS9-fw/video.html

    When I click import QBO says, "Import invoices isn't quite ready to support sales tax We're working on it. Support for sales tax will be coming soon." And then it only gives me a "got it" button to go back to the "Import Data" tab. Why can't it import my invoices and either use the sales tax that is already on the invoice or let me assign the sales tax? Is there any way around this?

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog Před 7 dny

      Unfortunately, if you use sales tax you can't use the QBO invoice importer. There are lots of apps that let you do it. I'm a big fan of SaasAnt, I have several videos where I show how to use it: czcams.com/play/PL1KoTzZLwfD0dD9R0Agqh_URFAEwu7XvU.html

    I just upgraded to 2024 Desktop Pro and get rid of QBOline - it was horrible. I have hundreds of transactions from Bank of America to add to QBD 2024, but Bank of America does not have an option for QB formats - only quicken. The only option is to download bank transactions into Excel. The bank account is a commercial bank account - which seems to be the difference, because my clients with personal BOA account, I can download into QBDesktop files and import them easily. the only import that seems to exist in QBD is to import vendor and customer files...worthless to me. Is there a tool that can import from bank transactions from Excel into the bank register in QBDesktop 2024? Great Video - just not sure if you were using a 3rd party app...looked too easy 🙂

    Shoot. I wish I had watched this first. Here is my scenario I would love you to do a video on if you haven't already: I realize what I did was not an effective way to handle CC fees, but circumstances were such I needed to do it this way. Basically, it was, “If you pay with card, pay whole amount on Invoice. If you want to pay with bank transfer, let me know, and I will revise invoice and resend.” I have a Customer with various projects assigned under his name. Let’s use “Awesome Project” for this scenario. Invoice #1111 Fake Customer, Jr:Awesome Project 1. Services $10,000 2. CC processing fees $350 Invoice Total: $10,000 if bank transfer OR $10,350 if credit card Fake Customer paid with BANK TRANSFER via QB Payments with but paid total of $10,350 and needs refund of $350 for card processing fees. I wanted to write a check for the refund and apply it to the Invoice, but because it was connected to the QB payments online, it wasn’t letting me. (QB wouldn’t let me do ACH refund). I then did a CREDIT MEMO and applied to Fake Customer:Awesome Job When I went to print the check, the name of the PROJECT was printing on the check and not customer name. I Googled and found that QBO won’t print customer name if applying to project. Good grief. Giving up, I edited Credit Memo and selected Fake Customer (no project), and the check printed with his name just fine. I then completed the process of receiving payment and attaching to unapplied credit memo etc. Not unexpectedly, the credit memo/check is not attached to a specific project so when I run a project report, the true numbers will be incorrect. Obviously, I did many things wrong (won't be giving options on invoices anymore). I know this is very lengthy, and I don’t expect you to reply with a tutorial. I just thought if you could create a video regarding refunds when invoices are fully closed, paid with online means, etc. Holy Moly. Thanks for all your wonderful videos. I appreciate you so much.

    Interesting - Thank you. Question which version of QB would allow several different companies under 1 subscription. Thank you!

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog Před 13 dny

      TLDR: The best practice is separate files/subscriptions for each company, but you can ask the tax preparer what they'd prefer. I recommend one QBO subscription per company because you can't get / make separate balance sheets. If there is an audit for a particular EIN, you want to share only the info for that one EIN, not others. There are specific circumstances when it's not a best practice but actually 100% necessary otherwise the tax preparer will have to spend a ton of time dealing with the records in order to prepare the taxes.

      One more note, if you're a real estate investor, a colleague of ours has a work around to consolidate them into one QBO file for his bookkeeping clients. His name is Greg Cullup, his business is rei.thenumbersguy.biz/

    For progress invoicing, if the client decides they want to change the scope on the estimate, like add more furniture (if they were an interior designer), can you just adjust the estimate?

    Hello Rachel, Thank you for the knowledge sharing. Can I ask you this? Should any balance sitting in every Opening Balance Equity account be zeroed out by trasferring it to another relevant account or just be deleted ? If transferred/ moved to another like you did in the vid, could there be duplicate? Thank you!

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog Před 15 dny

      Yes it should be zero. The answer for how to resolve it depends very much on why it's not zero. If you need help figuring it out you can schedule a 15-minute meeting and we can take a look at it together: gentlefrog.com/meeting

    Would someone be able to tell me how I can take an invoice template on QB Desktop and take that exact 8.5 x 11 invoice template and shrink it to a 4" width with a star printer. i know it can be done. I am only getting 1/2 the invoice printed vertically. I am just missing something. it is not the printer. When it printed half it was perfect and looked like the real 8.5 x 11 invoice but just shrunk down. any help is much appreciated.

    • @GentleFrog

      That is not my area of expertise. You could try saving to a PDF then adjust it from there. You can try contacting desktop support: quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/account-management/contact-quickbooks-desktop-support/L9d0ZUCrC_US_en_US It might also be something the printer company can help you with.

    How do I move a company from "QuickBooks Online companies" to "QB Accountant companies" ?

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog Před 19 dny

      You need to accept the invite as an accountant user first. In the client's account on the Manage Users page your email address should be on the Accounting firms page, if it's not they need to add you as an accountant user: czcams.com/video/fjVnYgtTGu8/video.html Once you accept the invite the company should show up as a QB accountant company. If you are already an accountant user for that company then you'll need to contact QB support: quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us?product=quickbooks-online-accountant

      @GentleFrog Před 27 dny

      Yes! Click Manage to open the menu on the right of the invoice. At the top of that menu is a little Actions drop-down menu. At the very bottom of Actions menu is the transaction journal. They've certainly made it difficult to find all the things we're used to.
