How many duplicate cards do you need to do this on average, I'm figuring out backgrounds and thickness effect easier but for the character Pokemon how do you decide?

I did something similar to some my mtg cards one was in fact worth 500 bucks but not to me. I got it out of a booster and it cost me 4.99. people would get so mad when they saw my altered cards. Can careless about secondary market, it's literally nfts. Worthless outside a small section of collectors
