Great video Brett, Amazing how quickly stuff deteriorates when not in regular use. The rubber on replacement steering rod ends is pretty poor apart from the Lemforder ones however you can replace the boots with poly ones which are cheap and last much longer than the poor quality stuff which now passes for rubber, also stainless steel Gater clips available. DA3493 Track Rod End Polyurethane Boot ( I have used them when the steering rod balljoint is otherwise good but Gater is perished. £3.00 Inc VAT DA3494 Track Rod End Boot Clip 33MM DA3494 (Stainless steel spring wire Internal Diameter - 33mm) £GBP 1.43 Inc VAT Both available from Britpart at decent price and quality is very good, terms not always used in same sentence. Try to save the spring on the lower pin end as I have not been able to source decent replacements for those, if you find any let me know. A good quality repair kit for the steering box drop arm is made by Transtec (Mike at Britannica Restorations in Canada also uses them, have a look at his videos on steering box repairs) Steering Box Seal Kit -Output- (Transtec) STC2848 STC1042 £8.40 Inc VAT Steering Box Seal Kit -Full- (Transtec) STC2847G £30.00 Inc VAT A brand new Adwest Steering box is now approx £750, recon ones are much cheaper but many are poor quality and do not last. Your leak may be from higher up on the input shaft which may be easier to fix in situ ? I did mine with steering box off after attempting in-situa and abandoning after failed attempts.

Hello from Ballarat, I have the same battery in my 130 300tdi since 2015 still start the engine today, on the top of the battery the blue section, It is a lid I can open it and 6 plugs underneath for toping up water, I do check it about once a year plus regular put a ctek 5A charger on it. Yours only 4 years old still new.^^

Preventative maintenance can never be underestimated no matter what the vehicle or age! Especially with electrical!! (& definitely a Landy!!🤣) Keeping the consumables like glues etc fresh is also another important thing to consider. There's something about good old, "Old school" mentality as per what you do, far too many want the $250k worth of gear just to venture out there! Good job! 👍

Good update Brett. Very thorough as per your normal approach. Had a chuckle when you mentioned the brass punch. I recently bought three bits of brass rod from a metal merchant, so I can have one in my vehicle and a couple in the shed.

Hey Brett. Those Fuses failed on me a few times, it might be worth swapping for midi Fuses that don't wobble and are of better quality.

I think the only book you're missing (other than the spider book) is one on reptiles. :)

Maybe consider a pre cleaner for the snorkel. Almost looks like your power steering belt is inside out. The ribbed should be on inside.

I am pleased to see you came through what was obviously a mid-life crisis - your videos had changed and there was clearly something going on in the background. If you get back on the road again maybe the bug will bite you and you'll want to expand your horizons. Mine continue to get ever bigger. You weren't the only one affected by covid. I shipped the Defender to Borneo in early 2020 and the first lockdown started 2 weeks later. I spent 5 months under lockdown with nowhere to stay apart from wild camping and being hounded by the police who were indoctrinated by the government that dirty foreigners had brought the virus in. There was a lot of xenophobia. Since I was unable to make the overlanding videos I had planned I did a short series on the Sandakan - Ranau death marches instead. It was an experience but not the one I planned. You have to take it as it comes.

Had to use compressed air to blow out the hoses for the windscreen washers in our Defender.
