Meaningful song .

I remember this performance, watched it live in the days when the Eurovision Song Contest actually mattered. They were one of the favourites but it was really tense because things could still go wrong, but they were flawless and as the song drew to a close we knew they'd probably done enough to win. I still get emotional watching it now!

My favourite French entry, for me this is what Voilà is for many people. I also consider this the proudest moment of our at times questionable Danish jury with their 12 points (they blanked Céline Dion for one thing) Gorgeous national instruments, and in particular the build-up throughout the second verse and the transition into the second chorus is just out of this world, and I simply don't think French (and Corsican of course) ever sounded better at Eurovision than in this song 😄

It was professional to sing it even better on the reprise for the fans and audience. It would have been nice if it had tied with the UK for 1st place. Imagine if the France jury had been the last to vote that year, would have been even more tense.
