Mariners have excellent pitching, and good defense. If the bats can get hot, good things will happen in Seattle. If they can't make the postseason again... then they have a nepotism bug they need to shed. Hoping guys can "find their swing" has become a Mariners legacy.

Most weeks Oregon was the best teams conference... Just go watch the games. There's a good chance they'll be the best team in the conference this season. I think whoever wins the conference is going to need a couple breaks to go their way.

Yea Oregon isn’t in SoCal as these guys know. Weather generally sucks in Oregon during football season so I don’t think weather is going to impact the team. Far more likely is having to play in new environments and travel time.

I'm unconvinced that Portland is interested in taking two wings in the top 10. A big and a wing seems far more likely, and I suspect they like Clingan a lot. If that's the case, that's the scenario where I can see them valuing moving up to 3 enough to package 14, Brogdon, and perhaps even Williams to get it done. Houston wants another star, but Udoka getting both Brogdon and Williams might be enough enticement for them to swap 3 with 14 instead of using it to get that star.

I guarantee that the fans can stomach more losing seasons if it isn't the half measured crap that Cronin pulled this last season with refusing to trade the vets (and if the rumors are true, wouldn't even take phone calls for said vets). Nobody wants to watch Brogdon play 35 minutes again and have us lose anyways. There's no hope behind that, there's no excitement behind that. Cronin needs to lean into the rebuild properly this time, if he decides to short circuit the rebuild and lean into the vet thing again, he will set this franchise back a decade. Trade the vets, get some picks, play the young guys. Because the one thing this fanbase is capable of is rooting on young players who are exciting to watch even if they lose games. If Cronin decides to do the Rockets approach and goes all in on play-in (as the rumors have stated he wants to do prior to season end), this fanbase will and should immediately ask for a new direction with a better GM.

It bears additional emphasis that Portland needs to trade veterans if for no other reason than to prevent Chauncey from trying to win games by giving them all the minutes. Seeing highly paid vets with dubious injuries in street clothes just isn't good optics. Nobody feels hope when they see that, so get as much value as you can get right now, and get that youth movement in full swing.
