True words - I'm dyeing a batch of clothes black right now, as I've just realized that's basically all I ever want to wear and what suits me best (in additon to a few dark purples, burgundies etc.) :D Yes, I've come to realize I'm somewhat (or a lot) goth at heart (despite my age.) I'm going to let go of all society's prejudices against black, and finally fully embrace it! But yes, the thing is, if one knows even rudimentary DIY, one can get a new wardrobe easily by updating one's wardrobe, no need to go (even thrift) shopping. :) (Though I love thrift shopping!)

I am 20 with carpal tunnel in both hands and POTS, I am still learning about ways to help with my POTS, I am currently in the process of getting my diagnosis and on a waitlist for a POTS clinic/specialist. I bought my first cane yesterday and it has actually helped a lot. I just don’t enjoy the looks I get, especially because I am also a young mom with a two year old at the same time and I dress alt. Constantly feel like I can’t catch a break from judgement 😅

I have a friend who shared some of her first responses to people who ask her "what happened???" Or "what did you do???" When theyd see her with her big giant leg braces. With a total poker face she says "yeah i really should have remembered the parachute when i jumped out of that plane" or "well that lap dance with the six inch heels..." obviously depends on the situation, but for her she was able to just laugh and turn the energy around. I still struggle with that feeling like i must have done something to myself, which is obviously insane, but then i end up thinking "maybe im just too weak and i should be tougher about the pain and push through" (which ends in total disaster). Thanks for bringing awareness and for sharing your experiences

Okay I really thought this was going to be super complicated but it’s kinda simple! I’m getting into Lolita and I cannot afford Angelic Pretty dresses so I’m sewing my dresses for now 💀 And what do you know, most Lolita has shirring in the back. Yes, I could choose to just not shirr it. But! The problem is! The shirring looks so cute!

You are supposed to put a backing on the back side afterwards and glue it down, also trim the excess threads. The ''nice'' side is meant to be trimmed to give it a fluffy look.

I watched this video several times between the age of 11 and now, hoping one day to sew one. Finally started learning to sew off and on a while ago and I'm so glad to return to it at 21! I know Anika doesn't post anymore, but I am so glad she kept her old videos up.

how do you fix gaping from the front side near the arm holes?

I have been using a cane/stick for almost 16 years now, and some folks just think it is part of my overall look, yeah my cane/stick has a skull on top of it, but as some one I worked with put it - if you have to use a cane/stick you may as well look good doing so, and most of the bods who thought my cane/stick was part of my look work at the jobcentre, well until I point out just why I use my cane/stick and they see my needing to walk with it

I can only imagine how going out in mobility aids can be tiresome for people with invisible illnesses. I have suffered a major injury in both my legs that caused me to have to relearn how to walk, i had to use a walking frame everytime i got out and oh my god do people stare, it is very tiresome and made me want to punch someone in the face, and dont even get me started on the lack of acess to most places, i literally had to be in the middle of the road when i gone out with a wheelchair just from how impossible it was for it to be on the sidewalk :/
