    The African Queen & Apocalypse Now? You did mention Conrad's Heart of Darkness too. Great to see that number of immature cutthroat. Must be converting to good cutthroat rearing habitat. People fish Siddle Creek at the head of the slough in spring and catch post spawn trout. I wish it would be closed. Where you went ashore by the small creek - I think that was the old Red Rock access. So named because someone spray painted a good sized boulder fluorescent red and left it by the highway access. It's long since been removed.

    • @davebeningfield
      @davebeningfield Před měsícem

      @@RalphHify Yup, Apocalypse Now and The Heart of Darkness were the two linked items I was referring to. Apocalypse Now was a modern retelling of Conrad's story, which took place in the Belgium Congo in the 1890s, I believe. I'm pleased you managed to watch through until that part, I know this one's a bit long. Also, we actually didn't spend a lot of time fishing, just casually here and there, and still found a lot of small, healthy cutties, which surprised me as it looked like marginal water - this time of year, at least.

    Enjoy all your videos! I feel your frustration with the wind. I fly fish from an open top inflatable kayak which has lower wind exposure and use 2 anchors. works well but sitting with legs flat means 2-3 hours at most b4 I cramp up. I have a similar canoe to yours but solo paddling/fishing in the wind was too hard. After watching youtube: Wendy Outdoors I see she has a seat in the middle of the canoe and uses a kayak paddle… hmm better solo maneuverability and weight balance ? After watching your video I feel inspired to try my canoe in that configuration sitting on a real seat w/ knees bent - might be much more comfortable. As for fishing but not catching I feel your pain too but Mother Nature, a good book, good beer and a fire make the trips worthwhile ! Good luck

    Awesome video, I am curious though what type of fly line you like to use

      Hi, glad you liked the video. On this day I was using a 6 weight 9 foot rod and a 6 weight floating line with a sinking tip. I was just expecting to catch cutthroat trout. I wasn't expecting or targeting steelhead.
