An awning window option over sink is a great alternative to double casements.
Whether it's a great window or a bad window the "quantity" of windows directly affects the cost. The awning window is a great alternative to double casements over the kitchen sink.

You "Get over it" What a jrk.
There's a really annoying high-pitched noise in the background of all your videos :-(
Thank u for this. I wish I would’ve seen it a little sooner ! I think I might have ruined my uncles windows by turning it that full last turn to make sure it’s shut tight and now we have one of the windows stuck wide open.! Turn the crank and it will open wider, but can’t get closed past one crank. Did I ruin it all the way and do we need to have the whole crank replaced?
There is no requirement that laminated glass has to come in an IGU, anymore than any other glass pane has to be dual pane. In fact, in certain parts of the country laminated can be used by itself and still meet code since a softcoat LowE coating can be included between the lites of a laminated sandwich in order to achieve the required SHGC value. Add an exposed hardcoat on surface 4 and you have the required U factor as well. I agree that putting the monolithic lite to the exterior is preferable in an IG unit that includes laminated, but there is no requirement to do it that way, just that it's a better idea. Also the single lite (as opposed to two lites in the laminate) doesn't have to be tempered, it can be annealed or heat strengthened as well.
incredibly helpful video, thank you!
in process of door shopping. Really appreciate this info!
This company is a total RipOff and Ugly as 💩
Wow there are so many coments on what is good and not good. Ive read books and watched videos and offivialy more confusef than ever. Im now considering just replacing tge windows with a wall.
what do you think of flexscreens UV product?
Marvin has a door with three bolts
Vinyl windows are the longest most expensive snake oil in the history of snake oil. And foam will absolutely improve the user experience by noise reduction. So say what you want about air gaps. But if the frame has no foam sound can pass right through. Use your loaf.
Jay I just bought luminated glass but the glass is 1/4 , I think the company did not explain about the size of the glass that I need for my infront windows 😊
I sell windows. The main way a consumer can know if its a quality windkw is look at the warranty. The back side is where all the exclusions will be. A better built and installed window will have a lifetime parts and labor warranty and only exclude acts of god, which wouldn't be fair to make a window company pay fir anyway. Most sales people will not actually show you theres warranty. Theyll just say it has a lifetime warranty. Read the fine print.
Warranty is good as long as they stay in business.
Will white vinyl or fiberglass have to be painted with age?

So what’s ideal to look for in the northern zone? Trying to determine how important energy star is
No link bro
Great video. For anyone wondering what brand, it's on the door behind him. Provia is the company, and they make exceedingly good doors - you get what you pay for, and in this case you get quality. Pella use them, so do independent contractors. It's either the Embarq or Signet line (Embarq are the really thick doors with the extra seals on the right, Signet is the one in the middle on the table in front of him). The glass design in the door is a decorative one called Carmen, using 'waterfall' pattern privacy glass (they also do art glass where you can choose the color accents to match your siding or window shutters or your flowers). I just went on their website and 'mocked' up a few doors with sidelights. Different looks, colors, sidelights, amount of glass, design of the glass, types of glass, doorknob and lock hardware finishes. It's step-by-step, you can add a storm door as you're going along (they come in various colors too, not just white) and it takes a few minutes. Then contact someone like Jay, talk through your ideas, get a price, and get a door that might just outlive you!
Instead of using expensive metals why dont they use steel and have it galvanized. Fyi your content is awesome and probably under rated. I cant believe this is the only comment considering how much window's cost to have installed.
[low e glass probably has negative health effects and/or will start a fire outside everyones houses with some sort of sun simulator burst or something like that. the gabberment always pushes things for nefarious reasons. ALWAYS]
Thanks, I'm a carpenter, fixing lots of casement windows, wish a lot more had that common sense, appreciate the video.
RBA does have triple pane available now
Simple and satisfying explanation 👍
What do you think of Larson Platinum locking system for added security?
Hell ya. Educating customers is #1. Its amazing how many manufacturers will walk through the motions of building a good window, but intentionally ignore crucial details leading to failure in a short period of time. Other examples are gas injection and the use of foam spacers.
At 6:30 there is a picture of a double hung window with significant condensation. In your comments on the window you describe it as having "roomside" condensation, however that window has exterior condensation, not roomside.

So what is the best door in regards to both strength and insulation. Wood or fiberglass?
Why not fill those chambers with foam insulation?
It's Height, not heigth.....

What does a 7 degree temperature difference between doors mean? I'm in the industry. I have no idea what that means.
The brand of door can be seen on the bottom of the sticker behind him.

Been binge watching your content, good stuff, and I figured you for LE or Martial Arts Instructor lol. Its the way you stand and carry youself. Respect.
İt would be better if you show how are they working in fact. By the way thanks for explaining
Not all doors are created equal, a home depot door "single entry door" by Feather River or MP will run you $500-$1000, same would be said for a single door for Thermatru at Lowes for $750. Now go compare a door from Provia, Thermatru or Captiva and a single door now cost $5K+, double doors cost $10K+, door with sidelites cost $8K+. were talking a differnt animal. you start to learn about a door once you buy it, go look at your door and see if it has a bull nose or its flat edge door. Lets not forget if you want special glasses for lighting and privacy, this bumps up the price. the average person has a $1k door or less. you'll know a good door quality when you seen one, and once you do, you know that door started at the prices I said. live and learn
