Did the drivers use this display of the map as an aid to initially learning the track, or was it still attached for later sessions. I have searched for outside footage, and it appears that it has been removed by the time of the main race show.

He as interviewed recently and he said you can't do that with todays bikes because of all the electronic controls. He said through a corner, todays bikes are no faster. He said it was old school riding the bike with the drift happening and the tyres allowed it. Now, its 100% grip or nothing and thats deadly.

No doubt Stoner was an "artful master", and he deserved a lot more than what he got. However, he will always be remembered as one of the most brilliant motorcycle riders in history.

I mean, Casey was my favourite racer at this time and his talent was undeniable but if I have to compare his skills to Marques in his prime I would say Marques was still on another level ...but maybe because of his high risk taking too.

I was there, hardly any cars finished, the track blew up and it was hot as hell. Still a great race to watch if you could see the cars over the barriers

Check out the book 'The Last Road Race' by Richard Williams; fantastically atmospheric account of everything to do with the track's one and only Formula One championship race. It was the longest track layout ever to host an F1 meeting at 16 miles/25.5 km. Those old cars reached speeds between 190-195 mph/305-314 km/h on the fastest sections of the course!

My wife and I went to this race on our honeymoon. Met all the drivers in the auditorium on Friday. My wife was given his Saturday t-shirt by Jacques Laffite, he gave me his Sunday race t-shirt. Wonderful experience even though the track was a bit of a mess.

One of the worst tracks ever. Joke. Dangerous as hell too.
