James, better known as Amuck, is a multidisciplinary artist from Los Angeles CA. he is a DJ, Producer, Photographer, Content Creator, Mentor and Small Business Owner. Amuck won the RE/FORM spring contest by unanimous decision, and in 2022, he secured victory in a remix contest with Chemtrailz for Physical Techno. Later that year, his remix caught the attention of Charlotte de Witte, who played it during DJ Mag's Top 100 celebration, marking her No. 1 spot for the second consecutive year.

Actually, it’s quite correctly worded.
It’s not about ‘feeling good about yourself’, it’s about saving everyone’s ears and hard earned money going to gigs with diversity hire DJs that have no idea how to mix, never will, and yet somehow get gigs because of the ‘optics’. I’ve taught dozens of aspiring DJs the fundamentals of music arrangement theory and some just don’t get it. Their brains can’t count it. If you don’t get it really early, or don’t already have it, you likely never will.

Pretty good explanation. I bought a sound table like 1 week ago been grinding since. I studied sound theory in college in the past so I would say I came into this video hoping you'd elaborate a bit more into the mixing element, talk a bit about keys maybe (atleast thats what im trying to get a better understanding of right now ahah) but you explained it well with your practical example

What if, as a begginer you've got to bring a track quickly, without looking at the linked CDJ bars, a track without drums or beats at the start, if I had at least Drums I could start to try beatmatch but some songs are quite quiet sometimes. Mixing hardcore techno, from 160 to 250+ bpm and it mostly have to do with slower tracks. for the other cases you often have kickdrums at the start of tracks to help you bring them on and to a smooth transition
@@mpk25069trz6969 Yoo Thankyou for your comment. In that situation if you’re running out of time there’s a few things you can do. I’ll start with my favorite; 1. On track A you can add reverb effect and high cut filter swiftly at the end of a phrase leaving some of the low end rumble. Track B should also have a high cut filter applied. You will then swap the volume from A - B with the reverb still on slowly transitioning your mix. This works great because a lot of tracks have this element in their structure. I do this every now and then and it gives a moment of rest and anticipation for your audience. 2. You can have your tracks preset with cues 3. You can backspin A and throw B in I’ll make a video on this and tag you when it’s up 🙏🏼
